You already have muscle, as long as you maintain it by lifting heavy and eating adequate protein on your way down you'll start to see definition and "tone" as the fat comes off. Definitely look into a lifting program and don't be afraid of heavy weights, they'll make you slimmer, not larger. Good luck!

Yeah I don't care for this, it feels like an artificial conflict drummed up between thin people and non-thin people when I think the real enemy is the idea that our self-worth depends on our pants size.

I can't see your diary but a LOT. OF. PEOPLE. have this problem when they restrict calories too severely. The "default" setting of 1200 is much too low for most people.

You have very little weight to lose and may have set a goal that is unrealistic. Change to losing .5 lbs per week, set your activity level ACCURATELY (probably not sedentary) and eat back exercise calories.

Flirting, definitely. I'm sure he knows that you are a newer lifter and was more implying that once you have hit your stride and been lifting for a good while you will be happy you got the gloves... not that you are lifting "improperly ". HE has gloves, he wasn't sassing yours!

3lbs in a month is right on target for anyone that isn't obese.

Cardio burns muscle+fat. Strength burns mostly fat, little muscle. You also retain more water doing strength to aid in muscle repair.

I'm 223 and 8 months pregnant and I squat/deadlift all the time. Not sure how everyone's belly is "getting in their way".:huh:
