Why does weight come off faster when doing cardio exercises instead of strength exercises?

Cardio burns muscle+fat. Strength burns mostly fat, little muscle. You also retain more water doing strength to aid in muscle repair.0

Keep in mind that building lean muscle allows you to burn more calories in a state of non-activity, such as sleeping. It's not a lot, but it's something!

I've found the complete opposite. I can do a lot of cardio but when I am serious about losing weight I need to hit the weights.
Of course, with lifting, you get the initial increase in water weight due to glycogen stores and water weight but once that levels off I see the weight loss.0 -

the same goes for me. the more cardio i do the more water weight i tend to retain. sure, i get to eat a ton more but i usually appear softer in my progress pics as well.0
