  • This month will just be a challenge to keep pace with the last few months. Summer is over and the schedule is a bit more busy. I've been working out with my son, and now that he's started back to (high) school, homework has put a kink in our afternoon schedule. I've signed up for a couple bowling leagues. AND... football…
  • I did pretty decent this month. I logged my calories. I had 17 brisk walks for 73 miles. I only missed one of my 4x/week workouts (plan to get my 17th this afternoon). I never quite got into the sit-ups and push-ups. I do want to get them in my schedule for next month. I had three weeks of virtually no change in weight,…
  • Wow. You look amazing and I love your attitude. My hat's really off to you for being able to do that, all while being as busy as you are.
  • Well, that was 5 months and 20 lbs ago. And I said I couldn't wait to see it again once I lost another 20-30. Here it is... GW - 180-ish CW - 187 SW - 247 -Kevin Aug 24, 2013 - 188 lbs
  • I guess we're at the half-way point. As usual, I've done good with my eating, I've logged nine brisk walks for 38 miles, and nine 1-hr sessions with free weights. I have added a few sit-ups/push-ups, but really haven't gotten it into my routine. It's a work in progress, and just need to fit it in. Oh, and I've dropped 3…
  • Welcome fitter_dad. I've been around this place since January and while we're not a REAL active bunch, we're supportive and do not judge. I hear you on all your reasons to get fit. I think we all feel similar. Our latest fad here is a monthly challenge. Not a contest, but a way to challenge ourselves. I think it's done…
  • My last 10-15 came off relatively easy. I got 10-12 to go. We'll see.
  • I just started week 6 of a 4-day/week program. Only missed 2 days in the first 5 weeks and already gained upper body while losing a couple inches at the waist. Looking forward to seeing what 12 weeks will do. -Kevin
  • Welcome Eric. It sounds like you found the right place. Lots of middle aged guys in here. Nobody judges.... As long as you eat a little less and up the reps, dude! :drinker:
  • Retired Master Chief here. I lost 10-15 lbs to get into my dress whites for retirement, then I relaxed. I mean, I really relaxed... 18 months later, I was 250. I'm at a lower weight now than I had been in my last 14-15 years in the Navy and it feels great. The work that it's taken me to get here is something I need to…
  • I guess just us... I did see one other but don't recall the name.
  • I ended up loggin 85 miles last month. Didn't see that coming! For August: 1) Continue to stay under my allotted net calories, 90% 2) Continue the walks 4-5x weekly, for 80 miles 3) Continue my strength training 4x weekly 4) Add sit-ups/crunches and push-ups to my daily routine At this point, I'm really not too concerned…
  • The day/month is not over yet, and am planning both an uppe rbody workout and a walk, but here's my stats: - Logged 20 brisk walks for 85 miles -14 upper body workouts - Lost 9 pounds, down to 191 Feeling good right now. I did not expect to log as many miles as I did, and I think that had a direct impact on me losing more…
  • Good job! It's hard to keep the diet/exercize routnes going when you are on travel!
  • :noway: Amisnercpa - Glad you got this month started. For the whole month of July, I had us back in 2012! I'll be back later as I'm still trying to pin down my challenges for August. Either this evening or in the morning.
  • Only a few days left. I'll check in on Wednesday, but I'm starting to think of what I want to accomplish in August.
  • I added it to mine about three months ago: KevinS62 burned 100 calories doing 20 minutes of cardio exercises, including "Morning Sex"
  • Good job Joe. Good start! I was where you are 6 months ago. I used my mfp app religiously and I've done pretty well. You can too. The Male Stop guys are good ones. No pressure here. No judging.

  • I'd like to do about 5-6 mph. However the pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back isn't allowing it. I'll continue doing my 3.5-3.6 mph brisk walks until I figure something else out. I still burn the calories, just not as fast.
  • Hey Lou. You're doing good. I've found the afternoon workouts work good for me as well. I work early in the morning and I found the added benefit of not being able to snack in front of the TV in the evenings. There simply isn't time after 60 minutes with the weights, dinner and another 60 minutes walking.
  • Phil, Go to the APPS tab. Then go to the "Ticker" page.
  • A week left in the month and I've hit most of my goals... - Over 57 miles so far (I should add another 20+ miles) - 9 upper body work outs, have 4 planned for this week. - Lost 6 pounds, down to 194 (last Friday) As I said, there's still time for me to improve on each of those, and already starting to think what I might…
  • amisnerpa - Sounds like you're doing it. Just at a plateau, possibly. I know I got stuck at one and took forever to go from 210 to 200. Keep up what you're doing and you'll break through it. And, the 71.5 miles is awesome.
  • Hey Daren, Good job so far. I gained a bunch of weight while I was in Afghanistan a few years back. I've got a couple fat pics of my in my ACUs. The food wasn't great, but I always seemed to be looking forward to it. I didn't miss many meals. You're doing the right thing by taking care of it now. I've been losing weight…
  • They don't allow us to have signatures in here and I forget half the time. i THINK i SAW WHERE (Damn Caps) we can change our login name. It says you can only do it once. I might try to change mine to Kevin or KevinS. I hadn't done it yet as I'll probably need to sync my logonIDs with the phone, Runtastic App, computer,…
  • Haha! Next up, I'm going to make them wiggle on command!
