Former Marine, Bad accident = weight gain!

Hello everyone! As the title says, I am a former Marine. ayone who has been in the military knows that we lived a very active life; ate and burned mega calories. The problem is when we get out, it is hard to change those eating habits. On top of that, I got in a very serious motorcycle accident shortly after getting out and was in the hospital for more than a month. This was 25 years ago.

Needless to say, I gained a lot of weight, and due to my injuries, I was very sedentary for over a year. I went from 180 to 250! Since then I have been able to lose the weight, but I struggle t keep it off. I was here about a year or so ago and got back down to 180, but then, as it has before, it creeped back up. I am at 218 now.

I would love to have some good supportive friends to help me lose the weight and keep it off for good this time. Feel free to fired me.

Dave

First, thank you for your service! My situation is not even close to yours, but I always welcome new friends. I do know how you feel as far as the struggle to keep the weight off. Several times I have lost weight, sworn I would never put it back on, then gained it all back and more. I think my problem was I wasn't making sustainable changes, so that's what I'm trying to do now. Good luck to you.

Retired Master Chief here. I lost 10-15 lbs to get into my dress whites for retirement, then I relaxed. I mean, I really relaxed... 18 months later, I was 250.

I'm at a lower weight now than I had been in my last 14-15 years in the Navy and it feels great. The work that it's taken me to get here is something I need to remember. It will take a little work to keep it off, but nothing compared to what it takes to lose the weight.

I guess what I'm saying, is keep aware of what I'm eating, keep using MFP app, and keep myself active.

You said it Kevin. Diligence and logging is key.... and keeping active... and making healthy choices(most of the time).
