  • It's ok! Guilt is the bobsled to weight-loss hell. You were celebrating, you had a good time. Now pick yourself up and have a wonderful, healthy day. We've all been there!
  • A smoothie with a cup of milk, a banana, 2tbsp of pbutter? That would get you almost to 400. Throw in some protein powder, that would get you over 500. A handful of almonds would be another 200. Man, I'm hungry!
  • I was gonna say the same thing! I could really go for an apple with about 4 tbsp of almond butter right now.
  • Dude. Seriously. You do realize you did nothing for your cause, right? Cowboy up and just hit the back button next time you read a post that irritates you. Berating and belittling people doesn't help them find strength, motivation or responsibilty.
  • Go here and read through the resources. http://eatmore2weighless.com/
  • Have you looked making sure you are eating enough? Many many people find success with eating (at a minimum) back their BMR. Check out the EM2LW threads.
  • Awesome!!! Good luck!!!!
  • I have the Link and love it. I have not had any issues with syncing to my iPhone, but have her complaints from others on here that they have. I like to keep track of my steps and burn throughout the day . I'm a teacher, so between the kids and staff I get lots of questions. I just tell everyone it's a fancy pedometer that…
  • I agree, read through "in place of a road map". Also, read through the MUST READS at the head of this forum. MFP puts me at 1200 cals a day, too, but I lose very little on that number. I'm going to do the opposite of what I used to think and I'm going to eat more. I have a bodymedia fit, and between that and figuring out…
  • Eat 1500 cals a day + exercise cals. It's scary, it feels like too much food! My poor, poor low-cal mindset.
  • Sorry, I was referring to an earlier post. I know that it's hard to watch others fall prey. We humans really like to watch out for each other; things can quickly become a hot mess when there are too many of us making it our fight when it's really not.
  • ...and if everyone ignored them it would take any power they have to provoke. Every action/reaction needs fuel to sustain itself. Unless you have walked in someone's shoes, you have no idea what qualifies as bullying to them. My heart is breaking over the bullying response posted; this treatment of a person is abhorrent,…
  • I completely agree with the OP. We are surrounded by so much information, it gets confusing when it contradicts what we think we know (1200 MFP daily calories, anyone?). We are all just trying to do the right thing to meet our own objectives. There is never a good reason to be snappy, judgmental or rude. It's easier to…
  • Yes and yes!! You want to have a healthy heart, lungs and skeletal structure besides being thinner, yes? Weight beaing activites help with bone density, and has the beautiful effect of causing your body to burn more calories each day. Welcome to the BMF! I've had mine for a few weeks now. I'm still trying to figure out the…
  • But this is a great start! Give up the crap you consume to balance it out and I'm sure you'll feel ( and see) a difference.
  • You can link the two ( BMF and MFP) and it will keep track or you. Some times it takes a little time for it to sync, but it always does for me. You can track a particular workout session if you want to see the specifics for that. You can also just workout and watch the calories burned get added to your daily total without…
  • I love our Sosa Stream, too. I was a huge diet Coke drinker, and the fizzy water completely replaces what I loved about it. There are other reasons not to drink soda besides weight loss. The acidity of the soda, the HFCS or artificial sweetners, dyes, chemicals. Congratulations for making such an awesome decesion fr your…
  • I think he missed the ENTIRE POINT of Forks Over Knives. Isn't the point of this doc (and Food Inc., Food Matters, etc) that we eat plants, but as non-processed as we can? There is nothing healthy at all about energy drinks and chips. I won't get on your soap box with you, no matter how tempting it is! Be secure in your…
  • Everybody is weighing in (ha, no pun intended) on this one. Nothing gets people fired up like discussing what is "wrong" with a weight loss plan. I think it's possible you are overestimating your burn. Our elliptical wayyyyy overestimates calories burned. I can be onthe treadmill, running hill intervals, sweat pouring off…
  • I was in the same boat, wanting to know how many cals I was burning in a day. I've been using MFP on and off for years for tracking eating, but wished I had a better account of calories burned. I got my Bodymedia 3 days ago. So far I am in love with it. I'm a teacher and was convinced I burned a tone of cals just working.…
  • Deprivation of favorite foods can lead to bingeing and falling off the wagon. Eat clean the rest of the day beforehand, put in a little extra exercise the days around it, and like the poster mentioned earlier LOG EVERYTHING. Oh, and avoid alcohol if you can; it can really put a hold on inhibitions and common sense. Enjoy…
  • Apples bananas TLC 7grain crackers with laughing cow cheese yogurt cottage cheese imitation crab pre-made protein shakes This are all things I have handy to have a quick snack during my teaching day. I get so hungry, but don't have much time to eat except during lunch break.
  • W...O....W!!!!!!! You look amazing!!!
  • Oops, sorry! I was thinking that your calories for losing was 1,600. So if you need 1200 a day to lose, then add the 500 for breasting feeding, and then 200 for working out. So that makes a total of 1,900. I think it's a good idea to eat those work out calories like you are planning.
  • I am nursing an ugly, recurring blister, too. I changed brands with my new shoes, and it has tremendously helped with shin splints; the downside is that I now get blisters on the inside of my heel and bottom part of my arch. I work with an amazing runner (have to give her props, she amazes me, just really gifted). She has…
  • Well, according to the math, you need 1600 + 500 + 200 = 2300. I think you can probably go a little lower, if you really make your calories nutritious. What I would do is research on a lactate sight and see what experts say about it. I didn't diet after my first born, at least not intentionally. I breast fed her, and had…
  • Good advice from the others! Good shoes are priceless and a training plan like Hal Higdon will get you there. I am training for my first half as well, which is in early June. The distance scares the heck out of me, even though I am running 5 miles several times a week already.
  • I love listening to Pandora when I run. My current favorites are the Rage Against the Machine and Beastie Boy stations. I have found Cypress Hill and Run DMC to be really good, especially for speed work, tempo runs and intervals.
  • Like you, I drink a lot of water when I run. I get really thirsty, and I sweat A LOT. Drinking helps me keep at it, increasing my comfort so that I can go longer or faster. When I run outside, I occasionally carry a water bottle with me, but it is uncomfortable to do so. I know there are belts you can purchase that hold…
