  • Chances are your family could use some meal makeovers too, what a great inspiration you might be for them! I am sure you have learned a lot about calorie intake thru MFP. My best suggestion would be to sit with your mom and make a list of the family stand-bys or favorites and them start googling the meal's makeovers.…
  • This had me intrigued, so I went searching for an evidence-based answer. I know there are a lot of folks out there who believe in raw eating, and to each their own, but perhaps that philosophy is what you happened upon when reading about salmon. There was a study in 2010 that says that cooking and cooking method had little…
  • Thanks, I will try some adaptation of this. We have Bluefish here on Long Island - its a very strong, oily fish that I normally wouldn't eat and a friend made cakes and they were great. Salmon is a great source of Omegas and I prefer to get nutrients from whole food over supplements when possible. I am getting my Masters…
  • Looks great! and I have a smoker too :)
  • EXACTLY!!! Thanks for the idea :)
  • Hi I just turned 42 and have about 50# to loose. Add me as a friend - I would love some more peeps to share PROGRESS with :) Lara
  • I doubt you were in starvation mode at 1200 calories. It all really depends on the workouts. Thats why this site is such a great tool - let MFP do some of this Math work for you. When I say 1300 NET calories above, I mean including workouts and eating back those calories. just follow the calories left in your budget found…
  • I just ran your numbers in my system 1st, I think that you should have been loosing on 1200/day - i think maybe you might start weighing/measuring your portions. Numbers I got for you were between 1200 and 1320 depending on the equation. Why don't you try 1300 NET calories for a week with 55g of protein.
  • Good for you - you are changing the outcome of your health. You should be very proud of yourself! I know this is close-to-home for many.

  • I have been able to pull up the recipes using "Jumpstart" in the search when I am logging. I think these recipes are GREAT because they are so filling! I am not following the plan to the mark but am instead eating a fruit for for dessert and after I log all my snack veggies I am close to my 1200 kcals of food. I am…
  • Clams are loaded with iron. Loosing weight should not contribute to anemia as long as you are eating a heathy diet. However it is important that you know If you are iron or b12 deficient (can be both - sometimes iron deficiency can mask a concurrent b12 issue) Also you may be lacking intrinsic factors that enable the…

  • .8 to 1.0g per kg of body weight is the standard calculation for a heathy person. (finishing my Bachelors in Dietetics next week)
  • Sodium is an electrolyte (chemically charged element) - you need sodium for proper cardiac function. You may want to check your last blood work up with your doctor - a normal panel includes sodium ml/L if this is your normal intake.
  • Bizgee - The lid pumps air into the sprayer, I would say you get about a quarter teaspoon per pump-up.
  • I would love to connect too! I am back on the wagon and I also need an active group :)
  • Re the fat %: would guess that this might be connected to the type and quantity of olive oil spray you are using. I use one of the manual pumps - I feel like I am hitting the fat.
