  • I get this all the time from well-meaning family and friends but I won't be satisfied until I am healthy enough to no longer need blood pressure tablets - and then I will decide whether I need/want to lose any more. I've given up trying to explain to people that I am still obese according to BMI charts - they don't see it.…
  • Lycra for cycling. Now I am wanting to step up from my hybrid and buy my first road bike but that is going to take some serious saving.
  • Have you sought professional help to address any underlying issues which have led to these eating behaviours? I think it could be very helpful. Best of luck.
  • Just do it - find something that you love and then do it to the best of your ability and capacity. The more you do, the more you will be able to do. Just don't let age be your excuse for not doing any exercise. I am not quite 50 but have really ramped up my exercise in the last 12 months and don't plan on slowing down at…
  • To quote a very successful advertisement here in Australia: "Your tastebuds don't know what time it is." Ironically that was a line used to advertise a breakfast cereal being eaten by teenage boys for dinner.
  • Best - that sense of achievement and belief that I can do anything now, not to mention improved health and relationship with my husband Worst - that I left it so late in my life to do this - wasted years!
  • I have just worn my bodymedia fir through an Aussie summer and, yeah, people notice and comment/ask about it. I just say that it's a pedometer and leave it at that. I've had no negative comments, just encouragement. The only times I have taken it off (other than showering and swimming) was when I dressed up for special…
  • I set goals for myself - bigger goals are short, medium and longer term, smaller goals are more frequent. For example, one of my first goals was to get under 100kg - this was a big goal because I had always stalled in the teens (113-119) in the past. I rewarded myself with a new gold watch. Another goal was to look great…
  • I don't plan for a splurge or cheat day but I had o e yesterday. After 12 months of working hard in the lead up to my son's wedding, I told myself that I could relax on the day and simply enjoy. Well, I relaxed but was so busy that I didn't overeat on the day after all. Instead it was the day after as we cleaned up the…
  • It just tastes vile. But then so does all soft drink, diet or regular.
  • It sounds trite but it will get better. As your body gets used to you drinking more water, your bladder will stretch and you will sleep through again.
  • Setting and achieving goals keeps me going. This means that I have to set new goals so that I keep motivated, otherwise the will (won't) power just disappears out the door and all the old habits creep back in. Goal 1 - to get under 100kg - rewarded with a new gold watch (which now needs links removed!) Goal 2 - to look…
  • Just wear what makes you feel comfortable. If you keep at it and get into longer distances you will discover that lycra is simply more comfortable. And don't worry about what others think, You are doing this for yourself. Just enjoy. And remember, for every hill that you battle up, you get to fly down the other side!
  • I knew exactly what the OP was referring to cos we have friends who shag. In fact, we watched them shag on their wedding night. I even video taped it. Plus they were on TV shagging as part of a reality show. It's an awesome style of dancing to watch and maybe one day I will give in to my husband's pressure to learn how to…
  • It will get easier as you get used to it. And then you will have more energy to resume your exercise. congratulations contour job.
  • PC, laptop, tablet, iphone, iPod, ipod docks x 2, bluray, etc etc
  • Cycle to and from work twice this week (60 km round trip each day), walk x 40 mins twice, and 45 minutes of one swimming session. First walk completed! (It's Monday am here in Australia)
  • sorry to say, she is never going to change. All you can do is change how you deal with her. Limit your exposure to her, don't place any value on what she has to say or do. And be proud of your achievements. Good luck.
  • If you're eating that many calories you won't go into starvation. Mode so I wouldn't use that as justification for a cheat day. Not saying I'm against cheat days, but don't do them for the wrong reason
  • WTG! I have a set of flame retardant work wear for occasional visits to oil and gas sites as well. It was very tight 18 months ago so I am hoping for the same NSV as you next time I have to go on site.
  • I feel your pain!!! I was a compulsive nail biter throughout my childhood. My Mum painted horrible tasting stuff on them, slapped my fingers out of my mouth, made me wear gloves....everything she could think of. I managed to give up and grow my nails for my wedding because I wanted a particular photo of my husband and my…
  • Sounds like you are having a tough day. Hang in there. Remember, it took nine months to grow that baby and it will take time to lose your baby fat.

  • Well, that just quacks me up!
  • I find it easy to drink water but every now and then I get bored with it. That's when I mix it up a bit and put a couple of sliced, fresh strawberries into a bottle of ice cold water. Delicious and very refreshing on a hot day!
  • I like to save calories for the evening but mostly because I don't always have as much control as I would like over my evening meal. Breakfast, lunch and daytime snacks, I can usually pre-log, plus I tend to exercise in the morning. Lately I have also been struggling with wanting to over eat in the evenings, dinner time…
  • Congratulations on reaching your goal. That is awesome. Sometimes the people around us don't know how to respond to the changes that we make in our lives so they do it in a negative way. Don't let them bring you down!
