  • Great move! Make your fresh food choices as convenient as possible. For example, I make up a container of fresh fruit salad so that I can easily eat plenty of fruit. My fruit salads change with the seasons so they vary throughout the year depending on what is in season. And buying in season is also cheaper, so learn what…
  • Australian dietary guidelines advise two servings of fruit and five of vegetables a day. Just think of all that yummy fibre!
  • Our boys have grown up and left home but we are still parents. We tell our boys that they can come home whenever they want to but we have a social life so they had better not forget their keys. Lol. Monday nights we go out for dinner then dance class, Wednesdays are my service club, Thursdays are his, Friday or Saturday…
  • Great topic! Tonight at my Lions Club meeting we had our usual raffle with a number of different prizes. Instead of eyeing off the usual boxes of chocolates and bottles of wine, I was hoping my ticket would get pulled out so I could claim the free month-long membership at a new local gym, or the box of fresh fruit and veg.…
  • 2012 Holden Cruze CD Equipe hatch in a deep plum color. Brand new, still has that new car smell. But my first preference is to ride and for that I have my 2013 Giant Defy One road bike in white with red and black trim.
  • Calculator - cos I was good at maths until year 11, then I went overseas as an exchange student so they never discovered that it suddenly got very hard for me!
  • Hoping that the bushfires in eastern Vic don't get any worse, and dancing all day and night at two separate functions with heaps of friends.
  • Heading out to Gumbuya Park in Victoria for a rock n roll dance event with DJ Jeff and Susanne so I'll be burning off every calorie I eat from our platter of salmon, chicken, cheeses, fresh fruit and dips. Then it's off to a birthday party with more music and dancing with more friends.
  • And if you are working hard or in the heat you might need to consider your electrolytes. One drink of something like Gatorade on top of your water could help.
  • Explore all options so that you can make an informed decision about what is best and most likely to be successful for you. Weight loss surgery is not an easy option but it can be effective. I have the gastric lap band and have lost more than 140lb. There are risks with all surgeries but WLS is no more dangerous than other…
  • Your letter makes you sound quite young but you are showing maturity by asking for advice on it. May I suggest you find a careers counsellor or similar in your local area and ask them to help you rework your letter. I note that you are in Australia (me too) and I suspect you will do better with local input. Good luck
  • Winter is not an excuse to stop riding, it's just a matter of having the right equipment. That, plus, you can excuses or you can have results but you can't have both.
  • LOL I work in the Latrobe Valley (live in West Gippsland), so I know exactly what you mean!
  • I'm so sorry to hear that your Mom has reacted this way. My son came out to us two days ago and it was such a relief all round. As parents we knew he was gay, it is just a part of who he is. We loved him last year, last week, and we love him today. it was a relief because he is no longer anguishing about his sexuality. He…
  • Works for me! I am naturally a morning person so am much more effective and motivated in the morning. I love nothing better than hopping out of bed, into my cycling gear and on my bike for my 75-90 minute ride to work. Then I shower, eat breakfast and start my work day on a high.
  • It's great that you are working so hard to help your children. The more help you can get them now, the better. I didn't get therapy for a traumatic event in my childhood until another event brought it up some 30 years later. I needed help much earlier but nobody could see the need for it. Keep on loving your kids.
  • Congratulations! And I know exactly how you feel cos I went out tonight wearing size 14 jeans - skinny legs! Keep up the great work.
  • Sticker o. My heated towel rack that says' "This product may become hot when used." Well, yes, I HOPE it does!
  • Mine has survived multiple house moves and even a house fire. And now that I can fit into it again, I am planning to wear it when my husband and I renew our vows, probably on our 30th anniversary in 2014 - although it may be a bit big by then! PS My Mum made my dress, so extra sentimental value there!
  • If you don't feel that you can have the conversation with him, try writing a letter. It's a great way to get your thoughts in order and lay out your case without interruption. And he will realise how serious you are. good luck.
  • You need to work out when it suits you, your body and your lifestyle best. I'm a morning person so it's easier for me to get up early and go for a ride or whatever. But by the time I get home from work, I just need to rest and relax. So just figure out what's right for you.
  • Great suggestion about offering to help out with the cooking. Also, manage your portion sizes and keep up your exercise.
  • Australian here and I LOVE daylight savings. It means that I can do things outdoors in the evening after work. And it's not daylight at 5am so I am not waking up way too early either.
  • Lamb's fry (liver) and bacon is a family favorite in our house! It's important to prepare it properly. Place the liver in a bowl of luke warm salted water for about 20-30 minutes then peel off the very thin, almost clear skin-like outer coating. I find it helps to use a sharp knife to score the coating and lift it off.…
  • Not quite at goal, but bought myself a lovely new road bike last week to help me get there. Would not have dreamt of it prior to this!
  • It is what's on guys. Love my DH just as he is, hairy and all.
  • congratulations! I ordered my new (first) road bike last night - then got a call from the bike shop today offering me a free upgrade because they had the next model up in stock but with a minor scratch on the wheel rim! And I got to pick it up and ride home tonight. Enjoy!
  • My mother took me to a dr with this problem when I was just a kid and he said that it was air in my joints. I still crack and pop a lot but have learnt to ignore it. I can even make my fingers crack just by flexing my hands! But the knee pain that I suffered from for years due to morbid obesity is almost gone. Now they are…
  • What does the job involve? Once you get past the basics of using the computer and telephone, office work will vary greatly depending on which part of the college you are working in. One of my greatest frustrations with other office workers (hence why I offer this suggestion), is people who don't stay current with commonly…
  • Follow your passion. You have identified the consequences of doing so and it sounds as though you are prepared to live with those consequences. It's much too easy to fall into the role that you are "expected" to follow. It's much more difficult and satisfying to forge your own way. Besides, I started university at age 40…
