  • I still live west of Columbia...lol
  • IMHO- I feel she could benefit from working the calorie accountability right along with you. She can then see what goes in her mouth, and how it affects her. This site has the APP, and she more than likely has a cellphone? Even if she did the MFP herself, and you continue to do what you are doing. She is 15, and she can be…
  • Cheating is doing something behind someones back. He isn't being honest with her, and she hasn't told him to his face if she is ok with it...so yeah...it is still cheating.
  • Welcome Diane. I am newly diagnosed T2 also.
  • Thanks for your reply rhedmobile. I told the Dr office up front that I am self pay, but am planning on reminding her at the next appt.
  • Hello all! I am new to T2, but have been using MFP since Jan 2013. I was just diagnosed T2 this past week. It was a surprise, but it wasn't. Both sides of my family ahve the T2, and my mother lost one of her brothers to T1 back the 40's. So I knew it was in the DNA. I also deal with PCOS, and now menopause. So, here I am.…
  • 54 here. I need friends and always looking for new ideas and motivation.
  • I made comparisons, and found measuring cups/spoons do not match the food scale results at all.
  • Oh..simple fix. Don't close out your food log >:) I stopped doing that. It's bad enough if I have to use my cellphone to log food. Then the site says mean things to me :s Like....."You are getting close to your 60 sugar for the day".... or something like that.
  • I am 53 and have lost 55 pounds this year. I was experimenting with what I eat, when I eat it. More protein in the mornings. It seems to be working for me :)

  • I weigh daily, BECAUSE my weight fluctuates daily. I can also track the impact of too much sodium, PMS water weight gain and retention, etc......
  • Well, babies differ in their appetites. With my son, he had a huge appetite and I lost back to pre-marriage weight. With my daughter, just two years later...she was a picky eater ...even on breast milk..and would only nurse one side at a time.
  • Arrghhh....food! I love it! And I hate that I love it!! And I crave it. Losing weight is such a mind trip. You want something. You can taste it. You cannot stop thinking about it. You end up either going out and getting some...and over eating it. Or..somehow figure out how NOT to. The single serving of- lasagna. soooo…
  • I didn't even lose till I upped my calories from 1420 to 1600 per day. My body just wasn't getting enough nutrition on the lower calorie setting. Now I am up to a 55# weight loss.
  • WTG!! and congrats! I am halfway there...237 down to 182..since last November. I agree with all of your points..and practice most of them myself.
  • I count my 3 cups of coffee as "water", and log the cream and sugar added as food calories. Salsa is high in sodium, and I track it because I notice on those days I go over my sodium limit, I retain water weight. (of course). But it is good to see how it affects my daily weigh ins.
  • I log coffee/tea as water..and the added creams and sweeteners as food items. The foods I don't log are lettuce, tomatoes, onions, celery, cucumber. I don't usually see any impact from eating them, as they are high fiber and water content. I have still lost 55 pounds in 9 months.
  • Maybe time to work on maintenance for a while. Just eat what it takes to maintain where you are for today. You can go back to losing the weight when you have made full recovery from your surgery.
  • Oh..go to the thrift stores! I just lost 55 pounds, and have made a third trip for smaller clothes. Why spend retail $$ if they are just temporary clothing?
  • Yes. Definitely add more calories to his meals. Butter, cheeses, bread, noodles, potato dishes. You can cut back or just eat lower calorie veggies. No sauces. I have to cook and eat entirely different than my husband. He has food sensitivities, and cannot eat many foods. I on the other hand, need to stay away from…
  • 53 here!! Friends AND support would be lovely!! :)
  • I tried it back in Sept 14'. I ended up with skin rashes and yeast infections. I stopped using it, and the rashes etc cleared up.
  • Congratulations on getting to maintenance!! I myself weigh daily, and see fluctuations. But I can tell if it is water retention due to too much sodium, or maybe whatever activity I was doing that day. Monthlies also contribute up/down 3 lbs. So I don't worry unless I continue to over do it. Using the scale is merely a…
  • Keep your chin up and try not to give in to their bullying. Your height and weight sound quite proportionate, and no where near an overweight range. It is hard to learn to love yourself as you are...and not feel you have to bend to other peoples demands on how you should look. That is how eating disorders begin. By not…
  • 2 freshly scrambled eggs..compliments of my hens out in the coop. ;) 2 biscotti with coffee. My morning round of 24 oz ice water. Eggs scrambled in unsalted butter. I find that is usually enough protein and carbs to keep me going till lunchtime.
  • Welcome! I too have dealt with PCOS all of my life. It has taken me several years of learning what works for me to finally get the weight to start coming off. This past January, I read somewhere...to eat your larger meal in the morning. More protein and fat...less carbs. I have done that, just to see if it works. Well, my…
  • Try for more protein at breakfast. Eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, butter (not margarine), lean meats. Make sure you get the healthy fats in...olive oil or something similar. Add some carbs....and drink lots of water. I have lost 40 pounds just by doing this. Eat your big meal in the mornings...and lighter the rest of the…
  • Hello kathybragg! I am almost your neighbor!!...just live to the south of you! I moved out of Fountain Inn in 2010. Anyway, jump right in..you're doing a great job so far!! Posting and sharing your life and weight loss struggles makes it all seam more ...attainable. Add me as a friend if you would like. We can communicate…
  • Logging food and weight daily helps me quite a bit. I live with hypoglycemia, and had to find the balance between protein and carbs for blood sugar stabilization. I think I might have found it. Keeping my energy levels up, and my blood sugar stable....is what helps me in the end to lose weight.
