Weight fluctuations

I am in maintenance now, so my goals have switched from weight loss to fitness. With that comes new weight training programs, and more speed and distance in my runs.

With that said: my weight has fluctuated all month! And it's completely normal.

I guess I'm posting this because so many get hung up, in a bump up in the scale. Please don't get discouraged when you see this. Especially when doing more fitness wise. Even my food diary over the last month shows I have not been as on top of sodium and I've been over more than I've been under, another cause of "weight gain"

I weigh daily, to track these sort of things and this is my month. You'll see I haven't quite made it back down to my low point. I weigh everything I eat, and know what I'm eating so I know what it is.

Yesterday I ran 4 miles in 35 minutes, my fastest time ever. Walked another 5, and then did weights. Today, up a pound and sore as crap. Lol

Anyway, it's normal to fluctuate. Don't let it bother you!! You'll come back down eventually. 2jbguwioek10.jpg

    Congratulations on getting to maintenance!!

I myself weigh daily, and see fluctuations. But I can tell if it is water retention due to too much sodium, or maybe whatever activity I was doing that day. Monthlies also contribute up/down 3 lbs. So I don't worry unless I continue to over do it.

Using the scale is merely a gauge of things. I don't let it eat at me. I know if I am following a healthy diet, or exercising...or not. If I exceed calories, and add a pound...it will come right off if I get back into it.

Fluctuations WILL happen. I agree...there is no need to get discouraged with fluctuations! Life.... has a big impact on our bodies...and ourselves.

Large and sudden weight fluctuations are NOT fat. Fat gain and loss is a slow, slow process.

But knowing this, still doesn't completely free me from excitement when stepping on the scales.

Weighing every day makes it less of a big deal, though.
