I love this. So true. I will say (to echo other posters) one of the biggest things I believe people struggle with is overestimating calories. I have a friend who is a waitress and so her activity level is "active" but then she adds in extra exercise calories (300 minutes of walking) every day. She wonders why she doesn't…

I'm definitely not a success story yet but I'm almost half way to my goal. I started out at 169lbs at 4'11"! I began dieting on July 13, 2013 by running 1-2 miles 3x a week and eating 1350 calories a day. I'm now 145lbs and I eat 1300 calories a day and run 3-4 miles 3x a week. I eat back about 1/2 my exercise calories....…

Once a month. The doctor said that women have the least amount of water weight a couple days after AF is over. Thats always when I weigh and I stay away from the scale the rest of the month. It's nice to see a 4-7lb loss instead of 0.8 every week...

I'm just shy of 5ft and my doctor wants me anywhere in between 99lbs and 123lbs. My goal is to get to about 115 so that I can have a little wiggle room before I'd be considered "overweight" again. I don't buy into the whole big boned thing but there are different body shapes to pay attention to. My sister and I weigh the…

This^^ About once a week I have a Snickers bar. 250 calories of goodness. But I bank my calories for it. In fact, I eat something I really crave at least once a day, I just watch my calories so I don't overdue it. I haven't taken one day off since starting on July 13th because I know it would derail me. Have a cheat meal…

Bump.

Echoing a lot of what has already been said, food moderation and extra exercise. I plan on eating whatever food I want to on thanksgiving, xmas eve, xmas and new years eve (notice I said "whatever food I want" but I didn't say "however much of it I want"). But a huge issue for me is what I drink. I can easily drink 1,000…

I started my diet/lifestyle change on July13 of this year. 15 weeks later, I'm down 20.8 pounds. I think my average is right at 1.4lbs a week. Compared to some, I've lost quickly but compared to most I've lost slowly. I am short (4'11) and I believe this plays into it a little bit. Myfitnesspal has my calories set at 1290…

Within the last 2 weeks. I had lost about 18lbs and no one noticed anything. In fact they made a point to tell me that I didn't look like I had lost anything. Then all of the sudden, it was like everyone started commenting on how skinny I look. Weird.

Hey OP, I'm a short girl too (4'11). I'm 28 and started out at 169lbs 3 months ago. I began my diet eating 1350 calories a day and running 1 mile 3 days a week. I've since lost 21lbs and I now eat 1300 calories a day and run 3-5 miles 3 days a week. I know you don't want too (and trust me, I understand) but I would…

Breakfasts: 160 calorie oatmeal. 100 calorie banana. 200 calorie yogurt and granola. 250 calorie fruit/spinach smoothie. Lunches: 285 calorie PBJ. 260 calorie avocado and tomato sandwich. 190 calorie turkey sandwich. 250 calorie lean cousine. Dinners: 400 calorie chicken and veggies. 350 calorie fish and veggies. 500…

Just to echo the other posters, I believe people learn how and when to (over)eat based on their upbringing. My experience (and why I partially blame genetics) is all due to height. I'm just shy of 5 feet tall and I met my 5'10 best friend in college. We are the exact same age (born 6 days apart)... We went to every meal…

I grab a small handful (1 serving-70 calories) of chocolate chips and a banana. I can usually get away with only about 160 calories and you can even melt the chocolate chips and dip the banana in the chocolate if you'd like!

I started on July 13th and my goal was to drop 40lbs by Xmas (going from 169 to 129). At this point I believe I've lost about 21lbs (I'm not positive because I only weigh once a month), so it seems quite unlikely that I would drop another 18lbs in 2 months. Realistically, I'd love to be 136 by xmas, which is 12 pounds (i…

Stop skipping weekends. I recently went to Olive Garden for a night out and soon realized that if I hadn't been consistent and looked up calories beforehand, I would've had close to 2,000 calories for just that meal. That would've taken my entire calorie deficit for 4 days! It's so easy to blow it.

I've only lost about 25lbs altogether. But I only eat back 1/2 of my exercise calories. Most machines and apps over estimate your calorie burn so I'd rather stay under than risk going wayyyy over.

Good for you! You can do it. I started in late May of this year and it took me 12 weeks to complete C25K. Most people are so gung ho that they won't redo weeks. I redid week 3 and I redid week 5 twice! Now I can run for an hour straight (over 5 miles) without stopping. Don't go too fast, run at a conversational pace.

For my height, a healthy weight range is from 99-123. My goal weight is 117 (which may be re-evaluated once I get close). I chose mine so that when I am fully dressed and go to the doc, I'm still in a healthy weight range. I'm sick of being told to lose weight. My fear is that I will get to my goal and the doc will STILL…

I'll remind myself how I felt and looked when I started and then ask if I really wanna go back there again.

You've lost a good amount of weight in less than 3 full months. 25 pounds is great. I would keep doing what you're doing. You might be retaining water. Give yourself a few more weeks before you weigh in again.

The only time I've lost weight significantly was 5 years ago. My husband and I were doing well financially and emotionally, completely secure. We were both logging food and lost a good amount of weight, we had just entered maintenance logging. Then, I resigned my high-paying job to take on an internship in my college…

Maybe it's just me but I don't really consider my sugar intake, I just watch calories. Using two TBSP of Sweet Cream in the morning only costs me 70 calories. And are most of your other daily sugars natural or added?

Once a month. But I'm the type of person who gets discouraged by the daily ups and downs. Find the method that keeps you on course.

I think it can be dangerous to not count them. But about 500 of my calories everyday come from fruits and veggies! Good luck!
-
This is why I'm such an advocate of only weighing in once a month. If you are working out hard and your muscles are tearing, they store water to repair themselves. Secondly, make sure you count EVERYTHING. One of my friends complained of the same thing so we broke down her diet and I noticed she didn't count coffee creamer…

SW: 169 CW: 149 GW: 117 Height: 4'11.5 WHEN/HOW DO YOU WORKOUT?: I work out 3 days a week by running 3-5 miles. I still have fat to lose so I don't try and tone yet (can't tone fat!). My only strength training at this point is competitive Archery. ARE YOU MAINTAINING OR LOSING? Losing. HOW MANY CALS DO YOU EAT? When I run,…

YES!!! I keep a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper 10 in my fridge which usually lasts about 2 weeks between my husband and I. I was a "carbonated beverage" junkie for 10 years so this is incredible progress for me;)

See your doctor!

Mine is set to lightly active as I work p/t sitting at a computer 5 hours a day. But I take daily walks and chase my toddler around and I never log the walks or the time at our payground. I run 4 miles 3x a week and I do log the runs and eat back 50% of my exercise calories.

You're gonna have bad meals and bad days. If you stay on track, it isn't going to hurt your progress in any significant way. Today I went to a Greek Festival and had a blast eating what was probably tons of calories, I just made sure to exercise and have a light dinner. You live in the real world, don't beat yourself up!…
