Good sneakers is key for the PF. I could not afford the $400 orthotics, but I bought some running sneaks (about $100) and after a month my PF was gone. I had my feet and stride measured at a running store. I started the couch to 5 K jogging program at 5'4" and 267lbs. It sucked b/c I had no conditioning in my body, but I…

You had a well worded non confrontational post. I just wanted to share a bit about my son who was a "runner". He is an incredibly independent boy. Holding hands would cause a melt down. Full on screaming. falling to the ground melt down. Consistent time outs did not work, spanking did not work, removal of toys did not…

I'm like a moth to a flame. I just keep coming back, lol.
-
Well some of us like being leashed on a frisky Friday night, lol.

Wow, there are so many perfect parents on here. I am in awe. I know where to come for any decisions I need to make about my kids. Phew. Thank goodness.
-
Yup, I have used a leash on son #2. Before kids I thought they were horrible. After kids, I could care less what anyone thinks of the way I parent. My hubby and I are the only ones that have opinions that count in how we raise our boys. That includes circumcision or not, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, feeding…

Yes, but let's not judge people who would resort to violence against parents raising their own kids.

It's my graduation week and I feel like everything is against me. We have been having wicked storms every night, and I have had lots of distractions. My car choked up and died after driving through water that was too deep and tonight we found out my DH's missing wallet is actually theft and we have had to freeze…

At 5'4" and 255lbs I look nothing like the athletic people on the trail. Plus I turn bright red. And every person who I pass on the path smiles at me. They know it is hard and I like to think they are pleased to see someone my size giving it a go. Be PROUD!!

You all are doing a fantastic job/

I am on my final week and it is not pretty. lol I jogged as much as I could and ended up with a total of 30 minutes (with breaks in there) and I only went a little over 2 miles. I am not sure if I can consider myself as graduated at the end of the week. It doesn't matter, I am going to keep on jogging. It was 80 and humid…

I always jog with one earbud out. I use a bike path that gets a lot of use and I need to hear if someone is coming up behind me. I think the only issue would be tuning out your surroundings.
-
Not only do you look amazing,, but you have an amazing confidence coming from within you. Inspirational.

Fantastic job. I wasn't feeling it tonight. After doing a 25 minute run on Monday, I struggled to even get past 8 minutes. Ended up w/ a 20 minutes of jogging w/ lots of walk breaks. Oh well, at least I was out there.
-
Don't worry about starting week 4. Everyone has bad runs. I was shocked when an 8 minute jog was near impossible to me just a few days after I had completed my 20 minute run. Some times you just have a bad run. You will knock week 4 out of the park!
-
Just did week 7 day 3 last night. I had to walk for about 30 seconds when i got about 2/3 in, but then I added an extra minute of jogging onto the end to make up for it. Can't believe I jogged 25 minutes and on a hilly path. I just wanted to add that I struggled at every step of the way. I barely made it through the 1 1/2…

In years past when I would "help" my husband with yard work I really haven't been much help. This year I was the one pushing us through to do more and I busted my hump for at least 4 hours clearing branches, hauling yard debris, etc. I am as sore as hell, but so proud that I truly was able to help!
-
BTW there is a great group here on MFP that is a C25K group. I recommend checking them out, they have lots of tips and pointers and a check in thread where everyone posts about where they are in the program. I will be doing week 7 day 3 tomorrow. Hoping to go the entire 25 minutes.
-
I have an app on my ipod I use, but the group I run with uses a timer.
-
This happened to me a lot in the beginning. I would pause the program and stretch whenever I needed to.
-
Twice now I have tried to start the 30 day shred on non-run days and both times I had to stop. It was just too much and my first priority is being able to run the 5k. In time, I am certain I will be able to work other workouts in. Great job on getting yourself out there.
-
I missed my run today because it was pouring. I was all set to run in the rain and was even looking forward to it, but not a downpour. I will try to get one in after work and before my son's concert tomorrow.
-
lol me too!

Week 7 Day 1, ran 23 out of 25 minutes. I had to take a couple of walking breaks after the 13 minute mark.

OMG I am suppose to run 25 minutes tomorrow. I think I am going for the 10 and 10 instead and saving my 25 minute run for Wed when it is cooler out.

Check out the C25K board here on MFP. You should be able to run this in 2 months or at least most of it. I would sign up for it. I am in my 6th week of the c25k and I am 258 lbs (down from 267). Go slow, very very slow.
