Welcome to the newbies! I joined in January after hearing a doctor on TV mention MFP. Since then I have lost 30 pounds, and discontinued my cholesterol, prednisone and BP medications I have chosen to eat a plant-based plan to do this with no meat and no dairy. Ask me about that if you are interested. I also walk an…

I don't eat meat or dairy.- Here in Canada we have a non-dairy cheese which I just love. Come in blocks, shredded etc. Have a look at www.daiyafoods.com- maybe it's available other places. Anyway, My favourite breakfast is a baked potato with melted cheese on it. Obviously I use non-dairy cheese, but you could use regular.…

That was one of the first things I did with the MFP settings was adjust the level of sodium to 1500 mg. I also watch cholesterol and calcium. It's very difficult to stay under 1500 mg of sodium, but it's something to aim for. Sodium really is a killer

I eat quinoa nearly everyday, and you have everything for great quinoa cakes. Mix it all together, add some eggs and form into cakes. If it doesn't hold together, never mind. Sautee in a non stick pan. I add dill and cayenne pepper, and kale if i have it. Sometimes i heat it up and coverwth yummy carrot/ginger soup. Enjoy

If you don't want to fool around with dietary calcium, it's easier to take a supplement. I like the one that is 1200 mg calcium with 1000 IU of Vitamin D since they work together, and there is not much sun in my part of the world at this time of year :glasses:

You can customize your calcium setting by going to goals->change goals. It is set at 1000 mg (it says 100, but that means 1000) If you want to raise it, you would put in 120, I think. 1200 is correct for our age. I have adjusted (down) sodium to 1500. I like the fact that I can do this on this program.

Agree totally.

Most of you sodium is in the soup, I bet. NEVER use canned soup. Make your own sauce with a bit of butter /flour and either milk or broth Easy
