You were surprised because you weren't really burning those calories. HRM's only really work for steady state cardio and HIIT training. An activity monitor would likely be a better choice.

You're hair is falling out because you are starving yourself. You have lost 70 lbs in 3 months, roughly 5 lbs a week. This means you are running a weekly deficit of about 17,500 calories. You need to immediately increase your intake by at least 1200 calories per day. I would suggest a multi-vitamin regimen starting today,…

Please drink water. It is very important to stay hydrated.

To lose 9 lbs. in a week you would need a daily caloric deficit of 4500 kcal per day. I'm going to venture a guess that you didn't get to that level of caloric burn. Unless you were exercising a LOT (think a half marathon a day), the majority go your loss was water. This would equate to about a gallon of water and has…

Your target weight is 118 lbs.? Seems pretty light for a guy.

What a bunch of hooey...people die trying this. http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2012/04/27/eat-the-sun-sun-worshiping-fantasy-versu/

Tens of millions of people are overweight and unwilling to do anything about it. She writes books and gives speeches dedicated to the concept that this is a valid life decision. Not sure I agree with her conclusion but she sure has targeted a big audience for her products.

Okay.

Eat less. Move more. Simple.

Anything Dr. Oz endorses should be avoided like the plague. He is nothing more than a shill for the shiniest nickel. If you lost 5 lbs. in 5 days I can guarantee it was mostly water. Unless of course you had a 3500 calorie burn per day and ate absolutely nothing. It takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose 1 lb. That equals…

2 - 2.5 lbs. per week is waaay too fast. You are at a 7000 - 10,000 calorie deficit. Keep this up and you may have serious health complications. Slow and steady is healthier, more sustainable, and you are less likely to pack it back on when you start eating normally.

I've never really understood this. I have used a fitness center for years. Nobody that I have ever known or worked out with has ever said anything about anybody else working out. Everybody is into their own routine and spends virtually no time or energy watching, discussing, or criticizing anybody who is in the gym trying…

The boyfriend should do what he wants to do and the OP should do the same. Nothing wrong with the boyfriend expressing his desire for a plumper GF...nothing wrong with the OP not agreeing. They have to decide if it is a game changer.

How is mindless sex going to solve anything?

You are a young male. Forget the diet for now. Lift weights...a good program...eat whatever you want. Just lift, lift, lift. Your body will transform on its own from the lifting. You have the benefit of testosterone...pretty hard to add fat when your caloric surplus is going into lean mass. Once you get into the fitness…

After reading your profile, you need to see a doctor. You may have a serious mental disorder that requires professional intervention, or, you may just be a troll...I hope it is the latter.

As she said abs are 80% diet, you cannot spot lose. Most likely your body will hang onto the belly fat until your your BMi is low enough that you start eating away at those fat stores. Sad, but true.

Eat less, move more, log everything...problem fixed.

I'd be happy to loan you a few pounds... Calorically dense foods are the answer. Nut butters, protein, good oils, complex carbohydrates, and heavy lifting...lots of it. You could also add a high calorie bodybuilding shake...very high in nutrients (and calories).

Danielle - This may sound really silly, but don't hope for a good outcome...create one. You control this, nobody else. It is hard, but it is not magic. Determine that you will do whatever is necessary (and still healthy) to lose the weight and become fit. If you decide to be successful and are absolutely committed to your…

At 300 minutes of cardio per week? Yes. You will burn too much lean body mass if you do not take steps to preserve your muscles. This means heavy (or at least moderate) lifting. Reduction in lean body mass is what causes the skinny fat syndrome.

Here are some hints: 1. Take pictures now. Store them away so you can take more as you progress. 2. Take measurements now. Trust me you will need them when the scale stalls for a month or more. 3. Take the scale and put it in the closet for two months. Most likely, it will only serve to discourage you. 4. Work out a good…

Not much to say, you seem to have a pretty good plan...with persistence, I think it will help you reach your goals. Since you are going with a plant based diet, I would suggest you get good quantities of quality protein (at least 1 gram per lb. of lean body mass). At some point you may want to begin strength training…

As a wise man once said "Do, or Do Not, There is no Try". (I know it was Yoda, and maybe he wasn't a man, but it's still very true.) Be committed and you will succeed. This requires absolute dedication, even when things don't go well. As always, persistence pays dividends. You can do this.

I think I might begin to wonder about the guy who thought she would make a good mother to his child. This doesn't sound like a good situation on any level. Might be a good time to step back and reevaluate.

Hey, whatever you think works for you...I would remind you that co-incidence does not always equal causation. But if it works for you I'd say keep it up. I'm a little more comfortable not chugging saturated fat, but hey, to each their own...

Somehow a freshly brewed cup of fat doesn't bring back the memories of those hot cups of java on cold autumn mornings...maybe I'm the one with the underdeveloped taste buds. On second thought maybe we should try to sell the concept to Folgers...the best part of waking up is blubber in your cup...
