  • Yep, mom of two preschoolers! (4.5 year old daughter and 3 year old son.) I'd love to be friends on here...the encouragement is so helpful! :) Kate
  • That is so awesome!! Right now I can only walk. But I will be a runner someday!! :) Kate
  • Yeah, don't get frustrated if you can help it. My goal--someday--is in the 130s, maybe lower. I'm only 5'3", and that would be healthy for me. It may be that some others are feeling defensive because they have reached a goal weight of 150, and that's great for them. It just emphasizes how individual this process is. Be…
  • Awesome!! Good for you!
  • Doing so great, Christy! Congrats! Kate
  • Salsa chicken! Just cover some chicken breasts with you favorite jar or fresh salsaI cook all day on low. Pull th chicken apart at the end- delicious, healthy shredded chicken, great with salads or tacos or fajitas! You can do the same w bbq sauce, but I'm doing low-carb so haven't found a good one that doesn't involve…
  • Welcome!! You will find lots of people to encourage you here. As a fellow mom of young kids, it's been great just to have the accountability on what I'm eating. Feel free to add me as a friend. :)
  • Thanks for the feedback, all!
  • Welcome! You can do this, and the support from people on this site is so great! :)
  • I think the dietitian idea is smart. I have been following a low-carb plan (you can Google Atkins or low-carb and get a lot of recipe ideas; depending on which plan you do you aim for between 20-150 carbs/day) plus keeping my calories under 1750/day. I've lost 18 pounds in the last month and a half. It looks like you're…
  • Yeah, I'm right there with you, too. My oldest is almost four and my youngest is two and a half. We can do it!!
  • Don't be discouraged!! There are so many great dresses out there, that I bet you will be able to find something beautiful at your current weight. And if you lose more before the big day, it will fit even better! You may have to try some other styles. But I weighed more than you do currently when I got married, and I still…
  • Thanks, guys! I will get there this time!
  • We are here for you!! I find this board helpful, too. I'm really learning how key exercise is for me to have success--just having a few extra calories to work with makes a big difference, and it's a lot harder when I don't get it in. Welcome, and yay for Kimmy! :)
  • I used to have this problem. I got new shoes (New Balance) that fit really well, along with some inserts that give good support. Now I don't have that issue.
  • Okay, I ordered this from Amazon. 120 sq inch cooking surface, removable non-stick grill and pan underneath. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00176P77C/ref=oss_product) It's only about $35, but still really good. It doesn't have a griddle or other surfaces; it's just a grill, and works great for that purpose. I LOVE this…
  • You know, I have thought about the same thing, particularly when I notice that people are way under their calorie goals or are skipping a lot of meals. I just want them to be successful, but I feel like I shouldn't say anything because I don't want to come across as judgmental. I know that I am way over in my sodium, and…

  • You are doing such a fantastic job!! WTG!!!
  • Oh, I'll add one other thought. I've been stuck at my highest weight ever for about two and a half years because being mom to two babies (16 months apart) really stressed me out. I so understand eating when you're stressed. I am doing better now (they are 3 1/2 and 2 1/2) and am learning better ways to cope. And this site…
  • Okay, I love this. I'll just add the thought that maybe you could get in an extra workout or two in the next few days, too. I can't tell you how helpful it's been to see my "calorie allowance" go up on the days I work out...it's really bringing home to me that making exercise a regular part of my life will allow me to eat…
  • I like: Jello sugar free/fat free pudding with skim milk and 1 tbsp ff coolwhip= 95 Celery with 2 Laughing Cow wedges; right now I'm enjoying the light onion flavor Sugar free jello with ff coolwhip a hardboiled egg 100 calorie pack of almonds I'm watching carbs, so a lot of the low-cal options don't work for me. The only…
  • Welcome!! I've found this place to be really helpful and supportive. There are a number of us here with a lot to lose, so you fit right in!! Tracking your food on here helps so much, and I've found it makes me plan out what I'm going to eat to stay on track. Take care, and I hope you find this site encouraging! :)
  • I checked your food diary and it seems like you're doing a great job; but I will offer the very little I've learned in the last couple weeks of trying something different. I've always been a low-fat, watch the calories dieter, no attention paid to carbs. This time I am trying a low-carb approach, and it has been working…
  • Thanks! That is encouraging!
  • Thanks for your input, guys. I'm two weeks in and have plateaued around a 9 pound loss, but I know I will just keep going and see results. I think I need to be drinking more water. I will check out the website. Thanks!
  • That sounds really interesting! I will have to try it! :) Thanks!
  • I have been doing a lower carb diet for a couple of weeks, and the best part is not feeling hungry. I am not on a particular plan--how many carbs are you eating? I know "low carb" can mean anywhere from 20-150g. I haven't really felt terrible, but I may be getting more carbs than you (average about 60-70g). I heard from…
  • That's helpful. Whenever I go to the gym, I use the numbers from the machines (elliptical, etc) and enter those in...MFP is often nearly twice the estimate on the machine (950 something for 55 minutes on the elliptical according to MFP, but the machine said 550). It said I burned about 550 calories cleaning my house for…
  • You can do it! Good for you for being honest with yourself and the group here about where you're at. I myself have about 110 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight (as I get closer, I guess I will see what weight should actually be my goal). I find the community on here so helpful. I'm enjoying a low-carb diet, and it's…
