I think it's pretty normal to exhibit different behaviors for different caregivers. My daughter was breastfed for a while, but has primarily been bottle fed both formula and breast milk. She started 2x a week day care at 9 months and she barely drinks there. She seems very happy overall....naps well....plays with the other…

Oh what fun! Have you tried Glide or another anti-chaffing product? Not sure if it helps heal, but perhaps for prevention.

Good for you! Our daughter is nearly 10 months old. Initially, I lost all the baby weight plus a few at just a couple weeks pp. Then it crept back. I struggled for a bit, but it hasn't really bothered me. Just in the last month or so I seem to be back in a groove. Funny thing is...for me...it involved NOT logging! I'm back…

I had GD--which scared the heck out of me in terms of getting actual diabetes. I will say that meeting with a nutritionist while I had the GD was by far the best thing I ever did! I learned so much about food choices & pairing of foods!! If this is an option for you, take advantage of it! (It was covered 100% by my HMO as…

Not to dismiss PPD, but maybe there is something about the 8 month mark? Our daughter is 9 1/2 months now and it seems like between 7-9 months I was pretty much over motherhood in general! I finally decided to go back to work part time (I was a full time SAHM, now I work 2 days a week), utilize a home day care &…

I stayed home for nine months, and went back to work (teaching) 2x a week as of a couple weeks ago. What we did to make things affordable: --cloth diapers (not for everyone, I know, but it was the right move for us and we were doing it regardless) --we don't buy baby food, she eats what we eat --nursing can save tons of…

I started to show (in fitted clothes) around 20-22 weeks. In normal clothes... well, let's just say I didn't officially announce my pregnancy until I was 32 weeks. (I'm not a tiny girl, but not obese either. I just didn't show much. Didn't stop me from having a 9lb 3oz baby girl, though.)

Just read this and wanted to wish you the best! I, too, had an early miscarriage. Got pregnant again a couple months later and we now have a happy, healthy, thriving 9-month old baby (girl). Hoping all works out well for you! Also, the pregnancy that got us our girl...I had HORRIBLE bleeding. I was sure I lost the baby.…

There was no way to tell for sure. I was an IVF pregnancy so there was no doubt on the due date. But I was showing ZERO signs of progressing. Because I wasn't thrilled with the idea of a C, I saw a specialist less than 48 hrs before my procedure to make sure he didn't see any signs of progression. Between my OB/GYN and the…

I had a scheduled c-section (please don't mistake that for "I wanted a c-section" as that wasn't the case but) due to a number of factors. Honestly, it was a piece of cake. Got to the hospital at 6:30 on a Wednesday morning. Wheeled into the operating suite (adjacent to the recovery room, which was across the hall from my…

I was active for my entire pregnancy and our little one was jammed up so far in my rib cage I needed a vacuum assisted c-section. We made the call 5 days before my due date, delivered 2 days before my due date. (Glad we did, too, as she was over 9 lbs of perfection!)

Agreed about the media scare stuff! My sis-in-law had my nephew when she was 42. It was her 3rd child and her OB wasn't too concerned (though she did have a little additional testing done along the way). She had a healthy happy pregnancy and a very quick vaginal delivery--my parents stopped in to say hi and ended up…

I did not do it, but my OB was very much in favor of it. He doesn't actually do it but a midwife in his practice does with a pretty good success rate. As it turned out, my baby flipped herself but refused to drop so I ended up with a c-section anyway, complete with vacuum assist go get her out as she was so high up!

Lake County, lL checking in here. I'm amongst the laziest of my friends, logging only about 35 miles a week walking/jogging. I've slowed down since I have a baby now (8 months old today) but both my hubby and I work out almost daily, and use our 20ish lb baby girl as a kettle bell :-). We're lucky to be surrounded my…

I'm nearly 8 months postpartum (c-section that was a lovely experience). I lost the weight in a couple weeks and thought "well, I rock!" but a lot of it crept up in the following months. I, too, struggled with bf'ing and stopped completely at 3 months. I'm a SAHM who wakes up at 5 AM so I can shower and eat breakfast…

Within a few days I was doing "normal" activity....walking, shoveling (a few inches of) snow, etc... When I went to have my stitches removed (at about a week postpartum) he told me to do whatever I felt like doing and to "listen to my body". I was very fortunate and had a great c-section experience. I know many on here had…

My best friend is having a lot of problems with her 12 year old daughter. Similar stuff in terms of anger issues, lashing out, internet time needs to be monitored very closely, etc.... Her oldest daughter (now 19) was a dream so this has been really hard on everyone. I will say that one thing led to another and although it…

If you suspect you'll have visitors.....bring reusable tote bags to bring gifts home in. Everyone brought gifts and I ended up talking the hospital into giving me a 2nd huge tote bag (they give them to new moms, filled with all kinds of stuff for baby) so I could pack all the gifts. We didn't bring anything for baby. The…

Sorry...a friend showed up as I was typing. I would say 75% of my workouts were self-led. I have an old deck of cards that has different weight moves on it, so I'd just pull a few of those at night and do whatever it told me to do. The yoga stuff was whatever the workouts were that week online. And really, the rest was…

I subscribe to The Fit Box (it's basically an internet TV channel) on my Roku so I did whatever workouts they posted each week. Personally, pregnancy DVD's weren't for me. I really didn't enjoy them.

My baby is here already (7 months old tomorrow) but I figured I'd chime in too. I walked/jogged for most of it. I rode my bike--outdoor & spin--for most of it. I did yoga and strength training. Basically, I did most of what I did before, but adjusted the frequency and intensity as needed. One suggestion: work that upper…

Yep, it sucks. I hated nursing and hated pumping. I did it for three months. I went thru 2 electric (Medela & Ameda) and hated them both. In the end it was an Avent manual that I liked the best. I used that thing 8-10x a day for nearly 3 months and got a fair amount of milk doing so....way more than I ever got with either…

I gained right around 25 lbs. Lost it all plus another 5 lbs by 3-4 weeks post partum. Gained back about 10 at six months post partum. Working on it though. In a way it was easy to lose during the early days when I was sleep deprived and forgot to eat.....

I chose close to home for the appointments. The hospital is about 45 minutes from home, but I was ok with that. I still had to drive far (90 minutes) for a couple level II ultrasounds, but it was worth it as I liked having the appointments 5 minutes from home. Any chance you can do flex hours (come in early/leave early) on…

Agreed. I do on average 2 extra loads a week. I honestly don't even notice it. Now that it's summer here they get dried in the sun so that's no work at all. I had to go buy swim diapers the other day and it occurred to me that I rarely shop and running to the store for diapers was a huge inconvenience. So I guess it's just…

What about a sit & stand? With any luck there is an attachment you can buy as an add-on for the stroller you already own? My girlfriend has a double sit & stand. And I'm fairly certain the "stand" portion of it has a little bench her son can kinda sit on. He's not strapped in or anything, but he can at least lean a bit…

We double up....using 2 hemp/microfiber pads. At 6 months 2 weeks, we've had our first leak just this past week! (We use gDiapers and the pads we use are theirs. I've also read that their disposable liners are crazy absorbent, though we only use them for travel and the time she had a very bad reaction to butternut squash…

^^Agreed! The only thing I'll add is even though my daughter wasn't on much of a schedule, I woke up at 5 every morning to shower before my husband left for work. It helped me feel ready for whatever came. And that way, if I felt like going for a walk I didn't have to worry about "looking gross" and I just did it. We…

Yay! Happy things are headed in the right direction for you!!

I would definitely say something to the boy and the mom (or at least to the boy, in front of the mom so words don't get confused). I, too, am a teacher and can't help myself. It's been my experience both in the classroom and on the playground that most kids respond. If nothing else, I'd address the fact that he called her…
