Congratulations! I hope to make that same goal before the end of the year myself.

If you are not enjoying what you are eating you may be on too strict a calorie allowance. Either that or you have put too many food "off limits". You can eat basically anything you want, as long as you control the portion size. Obviously 1000 calories of chocolate is not going to satisfy anything but your sweet tooth but a…

I read an interesting article on MFP about this subject. In summary it said that as long as you stay within the daily allowed calories for you weight loss there is no difference in when you eat those calories. They did find that, in general, people who eat more of their calories in the morning feel better and are often not…

First of all, there are no "bad" foods. There are healthy choices and not so healthy choices. You have to make the decision of what is important to you. Do you really want to lose the weight or would you rather pig out on whatever it is that you have decided is "bad"?

Many of us were raised in the "clean your plate club". How many of us were given the "starving children in China" speech? It has become ingrained in us that if it's on your plate you must eat it. It's difficult to overcome and involves a lot of guilt about "wasting" food. It can be overcome, its a habit like anything else.…

I have a 32 oz mug that I fill with ice and water to take to work. I will generally refill it with water at least once throughout the work day. I will also have a cup or two of tea most days and if my husband and I go out for dinner I will usually have water, sometimes ice tea. I have more trouble getting enough water on…

String cheese or other cheese sticks come in low fat and are anywhere from 50 to 80 calories each. There is also the mini Baby Bel cheese wheels that are about the same calorie wise. Apple slices with peanut butter or other nut butter is also good. Hummus or guacamole with pita chips or a low calorie cracker is also good.…

I agree with those when suggest not bringing up the subject when you are with her. If she continues to give "advice" anyway, just say "Thank you for the advice/concern." and change the subject. You are doing what you know is best for you. You may want to limit the time spent with her and look for other people you can pal…

Caffeine is addictive so the headache is caused when you don't have any. My nutritionist advised me to avoid caffeine when I was pregnant with my first child but I drank a lot of iced tea. I don't drink soda and I avoided juice because I had gestational diabetes but I also needed a switch from plain water now and then. If…

The guacamole you get at Subway is below par. I agree with the poster about Wholly quacamole, it is much better. I will often make avocado toast in the morning, mash about 1/4 an avocado onto a dry piece of toast. Add salt and pepper, a little basalmic vinegar, lemon, or lime. It's very filling. I also like to cut up…

What does learning disabilities have to do with managing your weight? You can still make better choices in what you eat and whether or not you exercise. It sounds like you are making excuses, only you can make the changes necessary to lose the weight.

I drink very little alcohol but when I do I will have a glass of wine or a wine spritzer, wine with soda. I will usually drink unsweetened tea with lemon, water with lemon, or I have found some sodas that are very low in calories. One is Dry Soda. They have some really unique flavors like rhubarb and cucumber along with…

Yes, you can have a bagel. I have found mini bagels which are right around 100 calories. Half a regular bagel is about 120 calories. You can even add a bit of cream cheese, I use the light cream cheese for a few less calories. Check out the calorie count of what it is that you want and figure it into your daily calorie…

Have one or two Hershey's kisses, a piece of Dove chocolate or another small piece of chocolate. One Hershey's kiss is 22 calories. A piece of Dove dark chocolate is 42 calories. Usually one or two pieces will satisfy my craving for something sweet and/or chocolate after a meal.

You will burn more calories in a shorter distance if you jog but walking briskly will burn many calories as well with a lot less stress on your knees. Neither will "help" you lose weight unless you are eating less calories than you need.

I don't really care for fast food in general and McDonald's in particular. When we are traveling or occasionally on my way to work I will stop for breakfast, the Egg McMuffin is not bad calorie wise and even the Sausage McMuffin is still in the 350 calorie range. When I eat out I prefer to go to a sit down restaurant where…

I eat Greek yogurt (plain) with my oatmeal, either old fashioned oats or steel cut oats. I will add about a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup to sweeten it a bit. I make my oatmeal with milk instead of water which adds some protein in addition to the yogurt. Throw in a few nuts and fruit as well as some wheat germ to up the…

Cauliflower crust pizza is right up there with taco pizza. If I want a taco I will eat a taco, if I want cauliflower I will eat cauliflower but leave my pizza alone!

If you google low calorie make ahead lunches there are hundreds of ideas out there. Some are mason jar salads, wraps, etc. One side that I found and is very easy is a Very Berry Salad. It's a pound of strawberries, 6 oz blueberries, and 6 oz raspberries. The dressing is 1/4 cup sugar and 2 Tablespoons basalmic vinegar. It…

I tend to eat a lot of oatmeal in various forms for breakfast. I have a couple recipes that I can make up ahead of time, scoop out a portion and add some Greek yogurt and fruit. I will also eat an egg with a slice of toast and a slice or two of bacon or a sausage patty, usually on the weekend when I have more time to make…

The purpose of eating every 3-4 hours is to maintain a more even blood glucose level.

As a diabetic it is recommended that I eat breakfast and should eat approximately every 3-4 hours. Eating breakfast doesn't mean you have to eat what is thought of as "breakfast" foods. I use to work nights, 7 pm to 5am. I would eat "dinner" when I got up, have something in the middle of my shift and then eat "breakfast"…

An egg with whole wheat toast (no butter), fruit and Greek yogurt, oatmeal many ways with fruit and nuts. All are good low cal breakfasts. I will often have a salad with cheese, lean meat and a bit of dressing for lunch. I have googled low cal breakfasts and low cal lunches online and found hundreds of recipes for meals…

There is no substitute for chocolate. You can learn to control the amount you eat. One or two Hershey's kisses or a dove chocolate does not have a lot of calories and you can fit it into your daily allowance.

If you don't want the carlories/carbs of bread you can have peanut butter or other nut butters on apple slices or celery sticks. Cheese goes well with apple slices as well. A little humus with apple slices or raw veggies will give you some protein, although not as much as you would think.

I usually buy the premade salads at Safeway. They are all under 300 calories and contain some protein. The veggies fill me up and the protein keeps me feeling full. Since I am the only one in my house that will eat salad I am limited in what I can buy to make my own salads as it goes bad before I can use it up. I have…

I drink primarily water and have for years. I don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners in diet drinks so I would rather have the real thing in limited amounts--very limited. A six pack of soda will last me several months. I do drink a lot of tea and flavored waters as "just" water tends to get a little boring after a…

Cheese and anything with cheese in it or on it.

I don't do "cheat days", at least I don't plan a specific day to go over. I do go out to eat, have meals with friends and family, etc which sometimes causes me to go over. If I know ahead of time I will cut back throughout the week to "bank" calories. Sometimes it's not planned. If I go over one or two days, I don't sweat…

With all the stress of planning a wedding you want to add a massive weight loss plan on top of it? Set a reasonable goal, no more than 10 pounds. Continue with your exercise plan, it's great for stress relief, and try to maintain a reasonable eating plan. If you have ordered your dress, you want to leave time for any…
