  • I've just gone through the same pain. 5'11" and 223lb. I lost 14lb dead easy, but the second 14lb has been torture. I tried to lose at 2lb-per-week and MFP set the target at 1460 cal-per-day. Add the exercise cals in and even after say a mile swim at speed (by chosen cadio exercise because running incurs too many injuries)…
  • Thanks for the replies. I have considered that it is just slipping into 'starvation mode', but having an abundance of energy challenged that. I can't claim to be not losing weight as being able to lose that 2lb in one day certainly disproves that, but this only occurs after stopping exercise after a number of days…
  • I find it strange that I can now perform vigorous exercise 5-times-a-week and not run out of energy, whilst living on 1500-1600cal a day (yet I burn approx 800-900 cal with the exercise). I manage to lose just 1lb-per-week tops with that regime. I drink buckets of water every day. In the past if I'd not consumed 2500+cal I…
  • 2lb in my first week - which was bang-on-target. Then another 5lb in the 2nd week, which must have been water-weight. That gave me a false sense of security though. Although I had a few more 2lb-per-week successes, that all seemed to be picking the low-hanging fruit. Now every lb off is hard-fought.
  • I'm on holiday in the US in August. Not wanting to look quite as large as many natives in the queues was one of the incentives to lose a lot of weight. As it is my lad can run rings around 95% of his US-born peers, who look goggle-eyed at how quick he is. I haven't seen any evidence to date that the efforts to persuade…
  • A girl in the canteen who had been working on another site the last month noticed this week, which was nice. My lad has noticed but his weight loss in the last 18 months (through sport only) has been way more dramatic. I'm not vain but looking forward to some comments in the future; the 'moobs' are gone but I don't…
  • I've found that if I try to go under the MFP recommendations, then I run out-of-steam by the end-of-week. So I try to eat back the burnt-off calories. I'm trying to lose 2lb-per-week, so I have a deficit set to 1000 cal, or a target of 1460 cal/day. I exercise with vigorous swimming for 50 laps front crawl and burn around…
