  • I used to... It's very affordable and tastes really good... but as I learned more, I sought out less sugary options with more natural ingredients. But I used it way back and it did help....
  • You can't WORKOUT a bad diet. :-) 100% agree!
  • thanks guys! i am going to include whomever would like to be. :) any progress, or story.... everything counts, no matter where you are in your journey. :-)
  • thanks jenna!
  • Hi there! I am in Illinois too! :)
  • just my two cents... you didn't gain THAT Much muscle in a week.... but, i would also wait another week and see what happens. UNLESS you aren't netting above 1200 cals a day. if you are extremely low in your net cals, your body won't budge.... the exercise also adds to this idea. most often, when people aren't losing who…
  • I have plantar fasciitis (sp?) and also a heel spur... they go hand in hand. Stretching your calves is EXTREMELY important, and roll your foot over a can of soup a few times a day. The tightening of these areas causes the tendon to pull on the heel, causing the spur to calcify. Also, make sure you have adequate shoes,…
  • all i know is what works for me... but i have read a lot and experienced similar issues, and there are three pieces to being regular. 1. drink enough water 2. get enough fiber (25+ to start out with but increase as you wish) 3. get enough fat (if you lower it below 20% you will find issues with being constipated) Oh, and…
  • take a step back, and remember this is a journey. you will have mess-ups. I LOVE this and got it from metaboliceffect.com's blog... Being discouraged means there is an expectation that there is an exact way or time period in which things are supposed to happen. This mindset is a trap because it sets up a false premise. A…
  • it has been my experience that MFP suggests 1200 cals WAY TOO easily. i almost always use nutritiondata.com to get my client's BMR (estimate) and then subtract 500 to start them out. then we manually set the program that they are using (MFP, CK, etc)
  • are your goals realistic? it's not greed... but as you probably know, most women are NEVER happy no matter what. i would recommend focusing more on the journey and just saying thank you when people compliment you.... whether you are satisfied or not, you have done an amazing job. we could ALWAYS look better. when will it…
  • welcome back! the joy is in the journey... not the destination. stay put, good or bad!!!!
  • losing muscle is NOT inevitable. check out metaboliceffect.com as they have lots of great info on this topic. i have been following this eating style for a week now and i LOVE it. also, i agree, you should be concerned. i personally think you sound like you are active, and i think your exercise puts you at very active....…
  • yep, ditto.... are you eating enough? PLUS are you getting enough sleep? enough protein? enough water? and... why did you basically do a hard core workout on your rest day?
  • IMHO, if there is a good deal of fat left, you would be able to pinch it and still have a good inch or so... but if it's mostly just skin and a little fat then there will be much less to pinch, and it would pull away from the body. for example, my lower abs are very lean and just have skin while the upper abs (around the…
  • i have basically cut out all artificial sweetener and refined sugar since sunday and i feel AMAZING. i have ZERO cravings. however, there are some fruits which have a low glycemic index and therefore the natural occuring fructose does not have the same effect as a different fruit with higher GI. apples, and berries are the…
  • i am in a similar boat... but i don't believe in running every single day. however, in my experience, first you need to eat more. especially if you are running everyday. i am sure your metabolism is on fire. secondly, eat LOTS more protein if you are eating high carb currently (this is what i think my problem has been....…
  • Polar is great for a HRM unless you are wanting to also run/bike and/or know mileage. Then, I would recommend a garmin... but garmin should only be used for distance workouts as it does not work on general aerobic/dvd/indoor/strength workouts. the Polar is a good option for any type of workout as it will accurately give…
  • not a cookbook, but AMAZING so far... The New Metabolic Effect Diet... it does have recipes etc, but it is really a whole new state of mind.
  • i have battled this for over 2 years now. the best thing we can do is offer a good example of what is possible when you begin to eat well and move more. as you well know, we weren't ready for this until we decided that we were.... it's only fair if we allow our spouse the same.
  • hi there! i myself have achieved this... and i know walk prouder than ever before. :) i am living proof that you can do this, for real, the healthy way. the tools you need are here, and also within you! there is no excuse that is good enough to put your health secondary to anything else. without it, you are nothing to your…
  • one day at a time a bad day is just that, a DAY. this is for life. take a step back and think BIG PICTURE... imagine yourself in 5 years.... if you have a slip up, it will not matter long term as long as you keep plucking away at the end goal... oh, and PS. the end is never really the "end" as this is a life long journey.…
  • i have NO idea what brand mine is, but i got it at one of those kitchen stores that are in the mall. it was only 20 bucks and has lasted me over a year. it does grams and also oz.
  • skinny cow is amazing. i tried the cookies and cream sandwiches. i am so glad they don't have sugar alcohol in them, but sometimes the sugar content is a little steep... but still better than the alternative. :)
  • your body will adjust and you will still be able to lose. :) i have been on the pill for 12 years! and i have lost weight and gained it on my own accord... people say the pill really affects this but i haven't found that to be true. it may also depend on which one you are on.
  • it's impossible to spot train... cardio and strength are your best bet. you also should focus on lean & clean eating.... higher protein, etc. but don't cut out carbs. one other thing is that artificial sweeteners tend to cause bloat in the belly area as does refined sugar.
  • PS genisoy crisps (like rice cakes, made of soy) are GREAT. i am big on snacks that are nutritionally dense too... not just empty calories. a lot of the main stream stuff is empty calories. just sayin'
  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/raeannesisson/5950862727/in/set-72157627100623285/ <-- veggie chips that i get at my local nutrition store. these are different than the ones that are "fake" and just pieced together and aren't actually made of veggies... and they are CHOW. (not the most healthy... but amazing) i agree on the…
  • strength is not exactly a big burner... but i log mine as cardio. :)
  • Healthiest shake of it's kind.
