Where you store fat is largely genetic. Some people can have a chiseled 6 pack and still have love handles (me included). So... you just need to continually lower bodyfat until they go. If you get down low enough, they'll go.

If you are doing the ICF / JFTV 5x5 created by Jason and can still lift in between - I would suggest you are not doing the workout correctly either in regards to volume (not doing 5 full working sets as well as warm ups) or you're simply not lifting heavy enough.

Yep! Same story here. I will be focused 100% for a period, then all of a sudden (without me realising most of the time) I am back to my terrible habits and back to (almost) square uno! Currently in my focused mode and I'm losing .. but could definitely do with a bit of motivation from MFP users too. Add me as a friend :)

I don't think there is a NEED to actually give anything up.. you just need to keep everything within your calories and macronutrient levels..
