Just a little support here. No matter how many "bad" days you have you can always jump right back into it. As soon as you realize that you have been sabataging yourself, make a plan to have a better day the following day or even the rest of that day. I have dieted a million times and this time, this lifestyle change has…

I cannot relate to your situation but I can say that you seem to be doing just fine on your own. What your father chooses to do is about him and not about you. You are obviously not a priority in his life so maybe he shouldn't be one in yours. Sometimes our own families are not what we need in our lives in order to be…

That is awesome. I remember when I posted the exact same achievement. I was glowing for days!!! I regularly run 2 miles and can do three if I really push myself. Every time I reach three I feel such a sense of satisfaction. That's the good thing with fitness goals, you just keep progressing so you get to continuously…

Personally with the heat/humidity I know that my workouts have not been as intense as they should be. My runs have suffered most due to the heat. I try to double time it on the cooler days to make up for it.

The best thing I ever did for my new healthier lifestyle was to purchase a treadmill. I worked out at my company gym on the treadmill consistenly for a month or so and when I knew that I was going to keep it up I purchased one. I tried it out in the store, I walked on it and ran and tried the inclines, etc before…

Congratulations!! NSVs are the best because that scale can be a liar. Even when the scale doesn't move you can find something that has changed whether it is looser clothes, increased fitness or being able to tie your shoes easily. Those are the things that keep us going :) Keep up the great work. Whatever you are doing is…

A lot of stores will let you exchange a pair of sneakers if you discover that they aren't working for you. I believe you can probably take a few good walks and then return and try another pair. That is what I did with running shoes, it took me a few tries to get the right ones. I would run a few days and then return and…

I weigh daily just to gather info. I log a loss when it has stuck for a few days so I'm sure that it is not just a fluctuation of sorts. For example this morning it appears that I lost two pounds. I will log that when I have seen it for a couple days :)

I have an hour for lunch, quickly change my clothes/shoes and then hit the company gym. I do about 10-15 min of weights and then 40-45 min of walking on treadmill. I walk fast enough to get a workout but not so fast I'm dripping. I do half the incline I would do at home, again to avoid the sweating. I usually burn 300…

Congrats!!! I remember how awesome it felt after completing that 20 minute run. You are doing great!!!

During the workweek I plan to eat on schedule but am a bit flexible. I have breakfast 7:30a, and then plan snack around 10a but will eat it a little earlier or later depending on if I am hungry. I plan to eat lunch around 12:30 but maybe a little earlier or later. Snack a couple hours later and dinner a few hours later.…

I experienced a sharp pain a month into starting the C25K program and that freaked me out. I decided to rest for a week and let it heal. As the days went on I felt better and when I was in motion it felt fine but when I sat for a while and got up it was sort of painful. This is still the case. I figure I am able to run so…

I'm not doing as well as I would have thought either. The summer is chock full of parties and festivals which means lots of yummy foods that I just can't resist. I have been making better choices than I had in past summers but still not as good as I would like. My workouts have been stable however I have not enjoyed them…

I hear you. I'm 5'1" on a good day :)

I've lost 50lbs since January mainly because I have been exercising a lot. I think I might have to start a kitchen revolution myself so that I can continue to lose the next 50lbs. My problem is that I am very picky. Yes I love to eat but the things I like to eat are pretty boring and I am not very adventurous when it comes…

I started C25K in April and graduated in June running an 18 minute mile and right now I am running an easy 15 minute mile. I hope that as I go along my time will be better.

Yikes! Sorry your start was a little rough. It sounds like you have a GREAT attitude though, ready to get back to it. Make sure your ankle isn't still sore or your likely to hurt it more. I started C25K in April and could hardly run without feeling like I was going to die. Now I am running 3 miles and was breathing like a…

Zen Labs graduate here too. Totally free and met all of my needs. You can easily go back and repeat a day if you wish, you can pause it if you have to and yes you can listen to your music while it works in the background.

Great point! I have a coworker who is great at reminding me of this when someone offers us some treats. I usually look at the treats and then try to decide if I should partake or decline and she will often say that we should split the piece or even split a cookie. Very supportive!!!! This way you get the best of both…

[/quote] Yeah - I am just going to have to figure out when it's best for me to do it in the afternoon. I think I'm just going to have to do what you are doing & just go a bit after dinner. Dinner is usually the biggest meal of the day for me, but maybe I could start training myself for lunch being a bigger meal & not much…

CONGRATULATIONS!! Your story is similar to mine. I also started in April and while I finished the program as designed I could run the 30 minutes but was only getting to a little over 2 miles. I finally reached the 5K on this past Sunday and it took me 45 minutes to do it. I know how excited and proud you are feeling right…

I started in April and finished in June. I too thought that I was going to die but I stuck with it and successfully completed it in the 8 weeks. By successfully I mean I was able to run for 30 minutes straight. It has taken me two more months to finally run the full 5K and it takes me 45 minutes to do so. Slow down, get…

YES!! Prior to buying a scale I thought I was overestimating my food and boy was I shocked to discover the truth. Definately invest in a digital scale to weigh all of your food. At first it was a bit annoying to do but now it is habit and it has made a world of difference. I also find that MFP overestimates my calories…

I did not know that about marathoners! Interesting, that means there is hope :) I've read a lot of your posts and you are always so encouraging to everyone. Thanks for that!!!

I love Tek Gear capris from Kohl's, $16.99 and tanks from Old Navy $10

And every little bit counts so don't get down on yourself if you can only do 10 or 15 minutes. I started with 15 minutes daily on treadmill and seven months later I am running three miles. We all have to start somewhere. Experiment until you find what machine you like best. Lift weights :) Congrats on getting out there!!!
