  • Congratulations!! This is a great step you took. I started running a little over a year ago and at first I only ran on my treadmill for fear of being seen by others. It took me months to work up the courage to take my runs outside. I felt so self conscious but kept on running and found that no one paid any attention to me.…
  • I make 10 on Sunday and eat two a day through the work week. I've been doing this for quite a long time and have not had any problems doing this.
  • This is great!!! It reminds me of the day that I realized I could put one foot up on the opposite knee to tie my shoes. I was thrilled with this tiny thing that I never realized I was missing out on. Keep up the great work and you'll have many many more NSVs like this :)
  • I have done this quite often. When I know I have something coming up and will be eating more calories than normal I will eat a bit less in the days before and/or after the event. I've lost almost 100lbs ;)
  • I enjoyed your love letter to MFP, it expresses my own thoughts and experiences so well. Congratulations on learning what is involved in losing the weight and getting healthy. (It took us long enough, didn't it :)) You are very beautiful and I look forward to hearing more from you as you continue on your journey to better…
  • This is a great NSV. One you are in better shape and two you get to see how much you have lost in a very real way. Those NSV's keep me going when that scale wouldn't move. I remember when I realized I could put one foot on to my other knee to tie my shoe. I was so excited. Also when I was able to wrap a regular bath towel…
  • I'm looking forward to making some serious progress with my running when I'm no longer eating at a deficit. Six more months, I hope!!! More food!!!
  • Congratulations!!! Those labels really do get us don't they. I am a little over 10lbs away from being overweight and you better believe I'm going to be dancing a jig when I get there. When I get to normal in 36 lbs I will probably cry. Keep up the great work!!! Especially when it gets hard and it will get really hard…
  • Ideally I would love a HRM that I can wear on my wrist like my fitbit flex. I love the ease of this activity tracker but wish it had a HRM built in.
  • Slow down. That was the best advice I received when I first started and was struggling. I've been running for a little over a year and I'm right around a 12 min mile. Slow and steady to build up endurance and then if you want to work on speed go for it. Congratulations on starting the program!!! Slow down and I am sure you…
  • I'm bumping this because I am getting close to maintenace and so far so good but I want to hear experiences from others.
  • I don't typically do one meal a day, though I have. I really enjoy eating a lot of food at once and will usually eat a 1000 calorie dinner each day. I will have a 300 cal smoothie for breakfast and then eat 4-5 "snacks" throughout the day, rather than eat a lunch. That is just the way that I prefer to partake in my meals…
  • I love a big dinner!!! My dinners are usually around 1000 cals, my breakfast around 300. I don't eat a real lunch but rather I have smaller snacks every few hours. 2 hard boiled eggs, cheese, fruit, nuts and some chocolate make up my daily snacks so about 400-600ish calories depending on how hungry I am and/or how busy I…
  • I'm almost 37 and it is a slow go losing weight from my midsection. My shoulders and back seem to be getting bony while my middle is still covered with fat. Just keep working at it. Things are changing but just really slowly. Patience is the name of this game :)
  • For reference, I was 260 when I first started walking and I would burn about 250-275 cals in a half hour walking at 3mph.
  • I have not cut anything out of my diet and I've lost over 90 and still going. I eat cheese and yogurt every day and ice cream most days. Personally I don't care for milk so I don't drink it. Everything in moderation, everything. Unless you find that something doesn't agree with you or it is contraindicated for medical…
  • Last year I started running (using C25K app) and after running for less than a minute I thought I would die. I was actually sure of it :) Yesterday I ran 5 miles without stopping and felt great throughout. You have to start somewhere and if you are at 3 min now that is great. Do that until it feels better and then push…
  • Cadbury. I've had two this year and hope to have another tomorrow. In years past I would have had dozens by now so I'm doing pretty good :)
  • I used to get terribel shin splints, ouch. I would get them even walking long distances. I found that the more I walked and later the more I ran I no longer got them. I believe that your body will get used to the impact after a while. Definitely get shoes that work for you, stretch and use good form. You can google good…
  • Interesting. Where do you buy chia seeds?
  • My company has a gym right downstairs from my office!! I walk at a decent incline and speed for 52 minutes, which allows me time to clean up before returning to work. I'd love to get a run in but I get far too sweaty :( During my "smoke breaks" I go down and do a couple circuits on the weight machines. It is nice to get my…
  • We are about the same height and according to those darn BMI charts I should be 152 to get into overweight and 126 to get into the normal range. I started at 260 (big) and am now at 169 and though I look decent in clothes I still have quite a bit of fat that I am working on losing. Ideally I think I will be happy after…
  • I am a huge fan of cous cous. It's easy to make and very versatile. You can add nearly anything to it or just eat it up plain. YUM!!!
  • Huge difference. You look amazing. Congratulations on your loss!!!!
  • When I did the shred the first time I lost about 4-5 lbs but lost 12 inches from hips, thighs, belly and upper arms. I felt much stronger after just a few days, my waist felt tighter and my biceps became rock hard by the end. You will definately get results but maybe not so much on the scale. It's an awesome and short…
  • I have the double belly too and after losing 80+ pounds both belly's have shrunk a lot. I still have double belly and hope that after the next 50lbs they will flatten out. When I was thinner in the past I did not have the top belly at all but my problem area was that little lower belly that was always so stubborn. It…
  • For those of you who were inspired by this here is another one that is similar and the two of these kept me going when I started running at 235lbs. I felt like I was too fat to be running and that everyone would be mocking me for it. To know that there might be just one person out there who might be silently cheering me on…
  • Emergen-C packets, mix with water, tea or juice and it zaps the cold right away. Can be purchased at grocery store in nature section. I like the lemon-lime, tastes yummy.
  • OMG I can relate to so many of these. The one that really jumps out at me is when I was doing 30DS all that jumping caused my body to "clap" for me in so many bad ways, boobs (with two bras), thighs, belly they were all cheering me on as I was soaked with sweat and praying for it to be over.
  • I too have to eat every few hours while at work or I will go home famished and devour everything in the house. Keep some healthy, low cal snacks at your desk and when you get hungry eat one to prevent you from getting so hungry that you can't think clearly enough to make good choices. Also drink more water!!!
