Did a 5K yesterday, pretty flat. Walked a bunch after. Today we have a weather front moving in and I have 5K. My knee is sore, not terribly, but kind of grumpy. So Stability band, here we come. I will have to wear the band to do the 5K.

Is there anywhere in your office you can set up a dvd player and workout inside on bad days? An exam room not used over lunch would work. I will stretch with others in our office break room, but I am a little shy about doing a full on work out for a period of time. Good luck!

Is there a gym or health center at your location? You will generally find scales at either location. Good luck!

Have your doc recheck your thyroid. Mine will go a little wonky once in a while. Used to be I could recheck every six months, we are rechecking every three right now. I had a high reading, went off meds, then went really low about 18 months ago. Try some modest exercise everyday, this can be tough to squeeze in, but may…

Fage is one of the more expensive Greek Yogurts here. Greek Gods is available in a one quart size and I portion it out to take to work. One of the points of Earth Day, is buy local eat local. The other is to eat in season. Can you switch up your fruits and veggies to what is a better buy right now? Oranges and cuties are…

My weight loss was only over three months. But I have only lost a pound since the first week of March. Losing inches tho. Frustrating:grumble: I have kept about the same speed walking over this period of time. Not making any progress there either. We have run into some bad weather and I have wimped out some. No real advice…

Best Wishes! To start, just start walking. Lots of C25K apps and books out there. Start walking, intermix running, until you can run a full 30 minutes. Some of us are destined to be walkers of the 5k because of physically limitations. Doesn't stop me! Saturday, I went out for my first 5k of the the year. Not many…

I wear a stability band below my knee cap. Helps the pain. I have bad knees and there are days when I know I need to wear the band starting out.

Portion control and calories. I have downsized my lunch into a Rubbermaid LunchBlox. Four small containers, 2C, 1C and 2x 1/2 cup. Throw in a piece of fruit and a carton of yogurt and I am set for snacks and lunch for the day. I try to pack my lunch the night before and log everything. Didn't do that last night, so I was…

We have a partial wheat free household. Our daughter needs this so somethings we go wheat free and some we just buy two kinds(like bread). Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta is the best in my opinion. Holds up well, good texture, not too pricey. If you are in the Omaha area, Rotella's bread had two wheat free loaves available. PM…

Some of my lunches come from left over dinner the night before. Packed and in the lunch bag right away after dinner so I am not tempted to nibble. A salad is always fun. Grab greens, veggies, fruit. Then nuts, meat, fish, cheese or eggs for protein. I have yogurt, a piece of fruit and a cup of cut up veggies in the lunch…

Walking up hills gets me slimmer in these areas. Don't forget to stand tall and control those tummy muscles! (from Omaha, and we DO have some hills here). I try to add hill work into my day two or three days a week.

Cut your workouts back. Maybe to 1/4 or 1/2 of what you were doing, build up. Good luck.

Way to Go! Keep up the good work!:flowerforyou:

Reporting in from Bellevue, NE here. Used to walk bunches when our girls were small. Got way off track. Last September, a dear collegue wanted 50 of us to do the Omaha Corporate Cup with him one last time before his retirement. There is a 10K and a Two Mile option. I registered for the two. Did not prep. Walked, made it…

5K on Papio Trail with our JRT(Jack Russell Terrier). Walked it in 51 minutes. Had a headwind going out, when in Nebraska is there not a headwind?

Speed work. I do hills here for it, but it really helps my times.

More H2O, less salt. Yogurt, sometimes two servings a day to get things 'moving', or tomato juice(low salt). Fiber too. You also need a certain amount of good fat in your diet.

Try the Bisquick one.
-
go for it. One step at a time.

Find a spice store. We have a Penzey's here. There are many spices, herbs and blends in a spice store. Most are salt free. Ask questions, the staff can point you the right direction. I make my own taco spice blend and dip mixes, cuts down on the salt. Good luck.

As the mom of an FMS patient, I had to take a deep breath and back off the sham statement. :explode: Diet helps, as does moderate exercise. A good day is really tempting to overdo, and sometimes our daughter pays for it the next day. As a teen, no drugs are approved, so our young lady has had to tough out the bad stuff.…
