I am way on the independent Protestant side with my views, so this my tint my comments a bit. Lifestyle changes are great, and six weeks should make a good start on a lifestyle change. Good luck in your ventures. However, this is where my views come into play, if you are 'giving up' for repentance, I would beg to differ.…

on the food tab, click recipes, add the ingredients and quantity, number of servings and there you go with a new nutritional analysis. You can even name and save this for future use by yourself or the public.

YouTube has great exercise videos, so no gym required. Walking outside, also free. Cook at home, save money. Great recipies and videos on the internet in many places. Shop local farmers markets for fresh ingredients Pack your lunch, portion control, preplanned, prelogged in your MFP diary. Saves on cheating, money,…

For defense, I walk with the dog. Not too much happens other than folks wanting to stop and pet the dog. But, walk with about a 1/4c of a liquid of your choice in a plastic water bottle. Oh, so sorry that made a mess of your windshield, car, etc, you just scared me so much I let go! (believable, but make sure you can hit a…

There are some folks out there that think they can make any comment about anybody. At a 5K over the weekend, a lady was jogging in front of me. A group of teenage girls behind me started making comments. I turned around and said 'REALLY' glared. I swore if they made another comment, I would march their ample little botties…

Try this. Brown Rice 1/2C cooked. Tossed Salad 2 cups Salmon 4oz. I am cooking the Rice in the cast iron skillet with the Salmon on top sprinkled with chili powder and will squeeze in Lime Juice just before serving. Toss a salad. Not too many calories here!

There is an open division if you don't have a team.

Go and have fun! We have a running club here. Great group. See if there is one in your area, there may be a beginners group or a ladies group to connect with. I walk my 5K for physical reasons, but I am working on my time. So, lace up, get up, head out the door and have fun. Listen to the tunes, listen to the birds, see…

I had a sad experience with a big name shoe store this spring. Feet were NOT happy with that pair of shoes. Walking a 5K was unpleasant. I went to local running store. Picked up tips. Bend the toe of you shoe back toward the heel, if you can do this easily, pass. The company whose shoes I am wearing does do mail order, so…

Walking DVD which I own, works great in the winter for me. YouTube can get you hooked up with all kinds of great workouts. Or pu on some good music and DANCE!

Wear old clothes and shoes. You may not be able to salvage what you wear to the race. Take a towel, shampoo, clean clothes, undies and shoes so you can shower at the end. A garbage bag or two would be a good idea. One for the seat if you can't shower, or one for the clothes you haul home that are a mess. Good luck! Take…

Best wishes on your journey. Remember this is the journey of a lifetime, you are just getting a jumpstart while your hubby is away. Eat well, work hard, have fun! Background. Hubby was stationed in Korea for a year when we were engaged 31 years ago. Not exactly like what you are doing, so I am a bit out dated. We have been…

I like the one in Good Housekeeping February 2013. 300 Calories Breakfast, 400 Calories Lunch, 500 Calories Dinner, Two 150 Calorie Snacks (three if you are not trying to loose weight). See WOMENSDAY.COM

Mine sound like velcro. You may be wearing out the cartilage in your knee. Try not to extend your knee beyond your toes when you squat. (this is a challenge all to itself). No pain right now so no worries. Try not to over lift, work into weights. Good news, loosing weight and gaining muscle helps. Fish oil and glucosamine…

Taking a great dish of your own is a good idea, you know there will be one thing you can load on your plate and not feel guilty. (swing by the store and get a veggie tray if you are rushed, just check the dip for calories before diving in). Life is going to happen while we are on this journey. Deprivation should not,…

Get a work out in before you leave for work, even just a short 10-15 minute walk gets you started Walk as much as you can at work, walk over to talk with coworkers, don't im, email or call Take the stairs Stretch or do light weights during your breaks, walk, put in a 10-15 minute workout dvd and close the office door…

Mine went away when I started exercising and got a great fitting pair of shoes. I do still have problems with flip flops, but not going bare foot! Thank goodness. I did get shoe inserts and still wear the heavy duty ones at work. For working out I just wear my running shoes. At home, I am usually bare foot. The shoe issue…

Great finish! The tips were good. Helps me put my 5K quests into perspective. Anyone looking for runs of any kind, hit your favorite search engine and plug in foam, color or mud runs with your city name. You will see a few depending on your area. There are quite a few here in the Omaha area. All with great names. This sure…

Don't forget to check your shoes. You may need a new pair. Try to roll a tennis ball under your foot while you are seated to relive the pain. Exercises for the foot. Back up your training schedule a few days or a week and repeat while your body recovers.

Great! Keep it up!

Have you had your doc do a blood test? Are you taking the prescribed meds? Lots of reasons why you can gain 20lbs in a month. I have most of 'em. Get to your health professional or free clinic and get some blood test drawn. The thyroid draw is in a special tube and nothing else is tested from that tube. But while the…

Stick to the sidewalk, not the side of the road. Safer. Find a Trail, well used, no vehicle traffic. Carry a soda can or a cup of coffee with cream, if you feel the need to protect yourself. Throw the cup at the windshield and run like h***! A loud whistle would also work.

Carry your cell phone. Don't wear earphones, or maybe just one. If you drive to your location, lock your purse in the trunk and carry just your car key and an ID. Go out for 10 minutes and head back. If you are still comfortable, go for your full run.

Walk, tall shoulders back. Do hills or incline on the treadmill if you can, keep the tummy tucked in. I do 3 sets of 30 of this each day. Stand on one foot, so right foot on ground, right hand behind head, raise left knee to meet right elbow. By the way, I had to work into this. Bend to the left, then right, stretch the…
