anyone out there with type II diabetes? Finding it hard to lose weight. If you have the same problems as I do, feel free to respond. Thanks Maureen

I've lost 10 since the beginning of June. Walking 5-6 days a week and watching the diet works wonders. I'm a type 2 diabetic and I didn't think I'd get this far, but I have 10 more to go and I'm pumped! Good luck!

I have lost 10 pounds as of this morning. I really started kicking up my workouts (walking) and diet. I have 10 more to go. I don't record my food as much as I have been, but I now know what to eat and when. Now, I have to start doing my strength training at least once a week and to resume my abdominal exercises daily. I…

As of the end of July I have lost 5 pounds. I have lost inches and am fitting better in my clothes. 5 lbs. isn't a lot, but it's enough to keep me motivated. I have around 10-15 to go till I get to my desired weight. When I go back to work this month (8/20) I'll have to find time in the morning to workout instead of…

Make sure you eat two snacks along with your 3 meals and you should reach your 1,200 calories. I keep track of my carbs since I'm a diabetic and my blood sugar has been good. Of course, walking everyday helps too. I usually get extra calories because of my walking, but I try to stick to the 1,200.

I drink those sugar free drinks (walmart brand) that come in the plastic canisters that have the small packets. I brew some green tea and use that instead of water. For example, if it calls for 2 quarts of water, I use 1 quart of green tea and the other quart water. You get your green tea in too and it's good for you too.…

I mixed my decaf and caffeinated coffee at first until all I drink is decaf. That worked for me. I still crave a good cup of coffee once in a while, though, but that's ok.

Cleaning house is all fine and good, but you need the aerobic exercise to burn calories and fat. Maybe you should start walking in the mornings. It gives you a ton more energy than cleaning house. Besides, who likes cleaning house?!!!!

If anyone is interested, get on the Oprah website and read about the diet plan (Bootcamp). I was on it for 4 weeks and lost 5 pounds. This next 4 weeks I'm gradually adding grains back into my diet. I get so tired of meat! Since I broke my front tooth and need dental work, I've had to really chew my food slow and I use…

After being on a diet/exercise program since the beginning of July, I finally lost 5 pounds. I'm a type II diabetic and being over 40, I know it's hard to shed weight. I started walking in June, but really worked harder this month. Even though I'm 10-15 lbs from my goal, I feel more fit and trim and have more energy. I…

Well, my daughter turns 23 in November and sometimes it still feels like I'm still carrying the baby weight!!!!! You know how God puts things in your life that turn out a bit positive? Well, I broke my front tooth and found out I need dental work (bridge) that will cost us about $1,300 out of pocket. I'm getting a second…

I know how tough it is after 40. I'm 48 and a type II diabetic and I have managed to lose 5 of the 15 or so pounds that I'd like to lose. Keep working out and watching your weight and keep using the fitness pal. It's wonderful! It lets you exactly what you're eating. It opened up my eyes for sure. I walk up to 6 days a…

I walk from 2-3 miles 5-6 times a week. What would be a good dvd for me (Leslie Sansone)? I'll have to workout at home starting in about 3 weeks.

When you get to wear things in your closet that haven't fit for a while, it feels great! So, don't lose hope. I wore a pear of pants to church this morning that hadn't fit real good when I bought them. They're the size I want to be! I know the next 10-15 pounds will take a little longer, but you don't want to lose it too…

Don't feel frustrated. About a week and a half ago I got on the scale (which I rarely do!) and I weighed the same as when I started. I decided to wait another week till I got on again. Well, yesterday morning, after about 4 weeks on a diet and exercise plan I found out I had lost 5 pounds. I'm a type II diabetic and it's…

Fixable, Do you have any protein ideas if you don't eat a lot of meat? I get tired of meat myself. I would love to go back to being a vegetarian, but I lacked protein. maureen

Yea, bananas are a great source of potassium. I eat one just about every morning before I take my walk or I put them in my slimfast shakes. I hope that helps. Maureen

When I get sick of eating egg and egg whites I do a slimfast shake in the morning with some tofu and a banana. Yumm. Gets me through the week! If anyone has any other protein ideas, please share.

We're all in the same boat. Want to lose a few pounds and look good and feel good about ourselves. I've been walking since the beginning of June, but the last few weeks I've been working out more intensely and cutting down on my eating. I feel thinner and my clothes fit looser, but not sure how many lbs. I've lost yet.…

I'm a type 2 diabetic and I try to get at least 150 grams of carbs a day. If I eat more than two or three fruits a day my sugar is high the next morning. I try to limit my fruits to two per day (Bob Green's life diet) and all the green vegies I want. It's great that I love vegies!! I do pretty good as far as protein, even…

I was at walmart the other day and was going to buy some sugar-free pudding (Jello brand) and noticed that some other stuff was "made with no sugar" had less carbs than the sugar free stuff. The sugar free pudding had 15 grams of carbs and the other had 8 grams. I went with the stuff with 8 grams. Why does the sugar-free…

Thanks for that tip. I've been eating way too many eggs. Probably 6 a week. I'll mix one egg with two egg whites instead and I'll get my share of protein. Thanks!

I had a few headaches, but I'm fine now. I don't drink sodas, one every once in a while. Instead of drinking straight decaf coffee I mix half and half, but I recently bought just decaf. I also make the sugar free peach tea and I use green tea for half of the water I use to mix with it. That way I can get my green tea in…

I love this website! I usually don't stick to something and keep track of my eating, but this is so easy. It's also motivating me to keep exercising. Exercising has become a habit now. Even though it was lousy weather I was able to find a track today and walk 43 minutes and when I got home I did my strength training as…

I have been following the Oprah Boot Camp and I really like the exercises. Plus, I add a whole bunch of crunches for my abdomen. Get on the website and see if you'll like it! I walk at least 6 times a week and do strength training (also from the website) 6 times as well, with one day off during the week for rest. I'm a…

Hi all! Been two days for me since I found this website. Even though I have been walking since the beginning of June, I see a slight change in the way my clothes fit. BUT, when you work at it and you try on those pair of pants or a dress you haven't had on in a while and it fits, that's JOY!!!! I will weigh myself in…

I put my food in the food diary for today and I was amazed on what I was eating. I'm a diabetic and my sugar level was low at 12:30 this morning and I made the mistake of eating too many peanut butter crackers and drinking apple juice (only one glass), but I was ravenous and didn't need the extra crackers. Learn my lesson…

My name is Maureen and I'm from E. Texas. My goal is to tone up and lose about 15 pounds. I'm a type 2 diabetic so I want to get my levels to where they should be and to improve my overall health. I like to walk and have started to work out with weights. I'm getting my husband working out too and to get us both motivated…
