  • Understand there are other options as well... Drugs -- Several on the market now that work. There is also the band vs the bypass... Just do all your research and do the bypass as the absolute last resort. It will absoltuely require you to change your habits in life...I want to be able to cheat once in a while ...do that on…
  • Know what the best exercise in the world is? Want to know the most important part? It is any exercise you can do consistently. I don't care if your running 40 min miles...if you do it 5x a week...that is great. There is no slow or bad exercise because almost none of us are uber athletes. Your doing great! Keep it up and…
  • I am a carb addict myself. Portion control and healthy "sweet stuff" is they key. A few things...sugar free Jello 5-10 calories a serving. With Redi Whip Fat Free only another 5 calories! Protein bars . ...portion controlled but they can add up quick! Watch it. Fruit of course...some artificial sweetner plus berries and…
  • People say that you notice the weight first, then close relatives after about a month and then co-workers and others about 3 months later. I know when I see others loosing weight...its not something I really notice until the loose a TON of weight. I just have my head down trying to get done what I need to get done every…
  • Most Protein powers are from milk protein which = not vegan. True there are some pea and hemp powders etc but most are not complete proteins. TVP = awesome protein. Tastes great in chilli etc.
  • Everyone is different. If that works for you...great. It was fine with me till I wanted to loose the last 5-10 pounds. I could NOT do it. Then I switched to 60 Protein, 30 Fat, 10 Carb...clean eating and progress...very very slow progress was made. Do what works for you.
  • I read...and you can do the Google search...IF is more effective for men then women but can help both. I do it naturally since I stop eating at 6 pm and dont eat again till 8 am...that is 14 hours of no food which I think IF is supposed to be 12 hours or more. Not sure if it helps or not though :P
  • I lost all my weight and leaned heavily on diet soda to feel full. To the extent I drank about a 12 pack a day. The acid in the soda is bad for you. The coloring in the soda is bad for you. The carbonation is bad for you. The artificial sugar is bad for you... Especially the artificial sugar which they have linked to…
  • Mostly agree with this. Fullness is both physical and physiological. If you drink say 6 glasses of water your stomach may be full...but you still want to eat. So its a mixture of things that add up to fullness. Do not underestimate the need and how healthy good fats are too. Fiber and Protein are big pluses as well.
  • To start off I am a guy ... Got my attention because I am 5'2'' also. I gained back 15 pounds so struggling to get back down. I want to get to 115 but lowest I ever got was 122. I was starting to see good muscle definition (not necessarily what a women's goal is) but I felt I needed about 5-10 pounds lower even at 122. Now…
  • This! A calorie is NOT a calorie. Lean meat, Egg Whites, seafood a TON of Veggies...when I say a ton..I mean a ton.
  • I know running at about 6 miles per hour yields me about 450-500 calorie burn with 3 percent elevation. Your telling me hiking is better exercise than running?
  • Weight watchers has changed their approach and a calorie is not just a calorie any more. That said... I found the weight watcher system overly complicated and too simplistic at the same time. The points method is semi complicated with "cheat points" and exercise points and normal points and a points calculator etc. The…
  • A calorie is NOT a calorie. That is an over simplification. Everything works when you have 100 pounds to loose... As you get closer to your ideal weight individual body chemistry gets multiplied... Especially if you lost allot of weight within the last year...it takes your body time to reset and it keeps trying to get back…
  • Lol...in general all generalizations are crap.
  • I am constantly struggling with my weight loss. It has been a life long struggle but I gave up... The last two years I have lost most of the weight I want but every day is a battle. Good news I am making some headway... I bought ever non-fad diet book I could find...just the big ones. Zone, Adkins, South Beach, etc. I have…
  • Actually...there are lots of studies that show you should eat some carbs for breakfast. That can start a binge cycle without any carbs. Your body is already low on carbs for fuel if you eat around 6pm and dont eat until 8am.
  • I just saw someone else put in something about "free food". I have those too... Although they have their negatives too..and only rely on them when I am really really hungry.. Miracle Noodles and Pickles are two things I use when I feel the urge to EAT. I recently kicked a very bad diet soda addiction so...caffeine is out…
  • I have to laugh at some of the responses here. If you are not full you are NOT satisfied. Can you stop yourself ...yes. However, this is why you see people loosing 100 pounds then gaining it all back. You can't live your life this way...or you are constantly denying yourself. Which leads to binges... Which leads to yo-yo…
  • I don't normally count breakfast (6 out of 7 days) and lunch (5 out of 7 days) because I am a creature of habit. I eat the same 2-3 meals each time so I know exactly how many calories it is. So...it is sort of not counting. In that I don't have to input the calories. Dinner is always something different so I have to enter…
  • 1200 calories without good exercise is just too low. Now I am on 1200 calories but I am getting 500 to 800 from exercise a day...and I stay about 200 below that with exercise. So if I have 1800 I eat about 1600 calories a day. I find that to be ok...
