  • You are going to have a hard time finding a decent HRM in that price range. I have a Polar FT4 and paid $75 for it. I tried looking for an inexpensive one and saw nothing but bad reviews. You are better off spending a little bit more money and buying a good HRM.
  • YES YES YES!!! My thought is that either I don't have good enough shoes (Payless lol!) or I wonder if the numbness and sometimes pain is due to my second toe being longer than my big toe. I can only do the elliptical / arc trainer for about 1 hour and sometimes I have to push through the discomfort. Makes me feel better…
  • I suggest getting a HRM and Polar is a great brand. That will give you the most accurate calorie count because you put in specific details about yourself. They can be a little pricey but are total worth it!
  • Those are some amazing numbers! Keep it up :)
  • Thanks all! I'm heading to the store in search of some delicious sounding snacks :)
  • I just ordered a box set of Jillian Michaels DVD's and one of them is, of course, 30 Day Shred. So I'll be right there with you!!
  • I just purchase a 4 DVD set and am wondering how well each of the DVD's work so I'm interested to see people's opinions too!
  • Thanks to everyone for their opinion. Overall it looks like people are fans! I just bought all 4 on Amazon.com in a bundle pack for 3 in case anyone is interested :) Always have to look for the bargains!
  • I completely agree with this statement! I'm sure it is frustrating not seeing that number change but you know that you are losing weight by going down 2 pants sizes. That's amazing! Muscle is more dense than fat so you can reduce the fat, build muscle, weigh the same, but become smaller.
  • How long have you been working out and not losing? Have you already lost weight already and are stuck in a rut?
  • Welcome to MFP! This site has been crucial in my weight loss and the people have been amazing. It's beautiful to get support from people that you have never met but understand what you are going through and want nothing but the best for you, even past weight loss. Good luck on your weight loss and I hope that you find this…
  • I've found varying reports on calories in sushi. For the California roll I have seen 250 up to 450, which is a huge difference! Knowing me I could probably eat 3 rolls but thinking of the higher calorie count would be over my whole daily limit which is super saddening because it's so good! Why does eating healthier have to…
  • To juggle multiple things, it's tricky. The only thing I can say is that the motivation to keep working out and losing weight is what keeps me going. I work full time, 8:30-5 and on Mondays and Wednesday I have school at 5:30-7ish. I go to the gym every Mon and Wednesday after I go home and have some dinner, usually get to…
  • The only way that you are getting to get an accurate reading is by using a Heart Rate Monitor. That takes into account your age, weight, height, sex, etc...much more than the machine does. Some machines I use tell me I have burned more than my HRM and some say I burned less. If you are serious about seeing exactly how many…
  • YES! Last week I got a HRM and I LOVE IT! For the most part I burn more than what the machine says but it doesn't take into account all of the factors that a HRM does. Plus, I hate having to hold onto the metal things on the machine that get your heart rate.
  • Try getting the 100 calorie packs as snacks. String cheese is a great snack also. You need to make sure you are drinking a lot of water too. Thirst can mask itself as hunger so beware you aren't thirsty instead of hungry. Plus water will fill up your stomach and dissipate the hunger for a little big longer. Don't get…
  • How long have you been trying to lose weight?
  • I can understand how you feel. Before I really started my journey of getting healthy I would drive by McD's and argue w/ myself on whether or not I should stop and get a breakfast sandwich. After the first few times of just driving past it and telling myself 'no' it got so much easier. Now when I drive by, I don't even…
  • Congrats on the weight loss so far! What a great start and wonderful motivation to keep going. It's great that you are starting to live a healthier lifestyle! I'm fascinated with shows like The Biggest Loser and Heavy. They are so inspirational and it's amazing to see how people's lives change. You want the best for…
  • For you ladies that have no side effects, I am so jealous! Sitting here typing I can just feel the weight in my stomach. I think I may just avoid the scale until my next weight in.
  • The best way to lose weight is slow and steady. Losing 7lbs in one month is great! The last time you dieted and lost 10lbs that is likely to have been mostly water weight. A lot of people see a significant loss at first and that is usually why. Don't get discouraged, just keep doing what your doing. You may want to…
  • Your body will get used to the workout if you have it on a schedule, it helps to switch it up (if you can). I work full time and go to school part time so I'm like you in having to fit in it when I can. I always go Mon and Wed but will try and go on a Tuesday if I can and then take of Wednesday. It is very important for…
  • I thought the same thing. I would think a place along the lines of Michaels, Jo-Ann Fabrics or A.C. Moore.
  • Usher - More It's a great motivation song and the beat is fast so you find yourself trying to keep up!
  • I will start off with saying that 20-30lbs is not measly! To lose that type of weight takes commitment for months and continues on even after you have lost it. Do you think you are truly committed to losing the weight and keeping it off? That is the first and biggest step. If you are only sort of into it then of course you…
  • You have the right attitude! Congrats on your 3.5lbs.
  • Congratulations on your daughter's birth :flowerforyou: I hope that you find this site and everyone here helpful, I have!

  • If you are exercising a lot your body may be tired so give yourself an extra day or two of rest. As other people said, switch up your work out. If you don't lift weights try doing that. Maybe push yourself just a little bit harder. Let us know how it works out for you!
  • That's incredible. That is such an accomplishment that you have made!
  • If you are looking to do cardio then I would suggest an elliptical. It burns more calories than a treadmill and is easier on your joints.
