  • Protein shakes are good if you have a hard time getting in enough protein. I love snacking on hard boiled eggs, beef jerky (minus the high sodium but great for protein as well), granola bars, etc...
  • My personal opinion on all those things are they are short term fixes that don't help you lose weight. The best way to lose weight is nutrition and exercise period.
  • That's amazing, congrats! What a huge difference, weight wise and confidence wise :)
  • I'm sad that you felt like you had to delete all of your friends because this isn't your first time on here. Guess what? It's not my first time here either! We are humans and things/life happens and that is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about! A lot of people are in the same boat as you (wanting to lose weight) so we…
  • On days where you workout you may want to replenish your body by eating back calories. Of course you don't have to eat them all back, but personally I find that I need to eat more on days that I workout. For those commenting on MFP exercise calories being off - they definitely are! It would give me an extra 80 calories…
  • The very beginning is the hardest - you just need to hold yourself accountable and even if you don't want to take that first step, do it anyways. I know for me I didn't want to start working out and had to force myself to start going and now I have to go all the time!! You can do it! =)
  • I weigh myself every few days but only log in my weight on Friday mornings. Weekends are usually where it's harder for me to stay on track so I like to see my progress throughout the week. But I don't live and die by the scale because it can be deceiving. I suggest taking progress pictures because you can see physical…
  • Love this! I definitely pay attention to people with a dog!
  • Confidence! That's such an attractive thing and I think it draws people to you more when you are confident in yourself. Work it girl! ;)
  • Losing weight is so much more than the physical appearance it's such a mental process too. And I do think the two go hand in hand. Enjoy all the perks to getting healthier and happier! :)
  • Dymatize ISO 100 is amazing and I know many other people who feel the same way :) Lots of delicious flavors too! I would make sure to get a shaker bottle too because sometimes the powder doesn't completely dissolve if you use a spoon to stir it. I thought it was a little expensive but it's definitely worth it!
  • You don't NEED protein powder but it's not a bad thing to have more protein which will give you more energy and make you feel fuller longer. Personally I like to have a good balance of carbs and protein and I don't eat nearly enough protein so I use a shake in the morning as a supplement. It's completely up to you. I'm…
  • I would do as much cardio as you want - maybe switch up the types of cardio you do every few weeks so that your body doesn't get used to the type of workout you are doing. Also - there are optimal heart rate zones for fat burn so I would determine what your range is if you are interested in burning fat. I think it's…
  • Nothing like a vacation that requires less clothing to kick start a weight loss/life changing journey! Feel free to add me :) Motivation and support are huge!
  • May I suggest checking into different ways to lose weight? For example, I am doing IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) so you still eat what you want but you are more focused on a proper balance of carbs/protein/fats. Rice and carbs are my weakness but instead of completely eliminating something from your diet you just learn…
  • Maybe try and pay more attention to the other macros that MFP has set up for you, especially sodium since that will cause you to retain more water. Sometimes switching it up helps kind of "jumpstart" your weight loss back up.
  • I have heard the same thing too but to me it doesn't make sense because the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. So if you build muscle then you should burn more calories therefore lose weight. I do IIFYM and they want you to lift over doing cardio and people consistently lose weight using this method. Are you…
  • Best thing to do is to see if the scale is calibrated properly. Take something that you know what the exact weight is, place it on both scales and see which is more accurate.
  • I lost weight before eating 1200 calories a day and exercising often. Gained it back and here I am again. This time I am using IIFYM and I eat 1600 calories a day, working out a few days a week and in the 3 weeks I have been doing it have gone down 6 pounds. I can't believe how much I eat and I am never hungry. To me this…
  • While losing weight it is still important to eat - you want to make sure you are losing fat and not muscle. The first time I lost weight I was eating 1200 calories a day. Losing weight this time around I'm eating almost 1600 and I've been consistently losing weight. Your body needs energy and this comes from the foods that…
  • My goal is about 60g of fat which I'm usually under on as well :/
  • I eat the typical chicken, eggs, meat, etc... just looking for some new ideas so I can switch it up. Protein bar suggestions? I am always struggling with staying within my carbs (130g daily) so something with a lesser amount of carbs is preferred.
  • Thanks for the info!!

  • Cardio and weights were extremely helpful in losing weight for me. It speeds up your metabolism and continues to do so after your done working out. Plus it just gets your body in better shape. Losing weight is more nutrition than exercise but I personally believe you are more successful if you do both.
  • I'm so sorry that you lost your mother, I can't imagine having to go through that. You look amazing!! Your face looks so different, I wouldn't think that both pics were of the same guy. You are very good looking!
  • LMAO - that is exactly what I thought of too!
  • PUSH UPS!!! I hate when my trainer makes me do them because I suck at them. The most I got up to is 3 and I don't have weakling arms, I got some guns going but for some reason I just can't do push ups. Most. Hated. Exercise. Ever.
  • I say keep pushing if you still have a goal to reach! I've been in the same mind frame lately and realized that I don't want to settle, I want to work hard and become what I dreamed of. Try switching up your exercises. If you walk on a treadmill, try walking backwards (and same for the elliptical). If you run, try biking,…
  • It looks like you can fit practically your whole body in just one pant leg now! Congrats on achieving your goal :)
