  • I recommend the Hugh Fearnly Whittington (?) veg cookbook. It's amazing, and full of proper recipes and real meals WITHOUT the need for any meat. Try cooking curries as well. Avoid the jars of premixed sauce: a few spices, a little oil, and water then lots of ginger and veg, and you're well on your way to a delicious…
  • Hi all, I've rejoined MFP, hoping to shift the 10kgs I gained after 3 years of working night shift! Since my mum and sister aren't using MFP anymore I'm friendless at this stage so would appreciate new friends to help motivate (and also compare diaries... Any other vegetarians out there?) Not sure how to add so please add…
  • Hi Dukaners - I'm following a plan from a nutritionist here in France (Dr Compagnon) and it seems very similar to Dukan. No fat, no sugar and no carbs. As a vegetarian it's a nightmare.
  • Hey - I'm on a similarly restrictive diet, and as a vegetarian living in France, it's bloody tricky. It does mean however, that I HAVE to cook, so have plenty of recipe ideas. I eat lots of soup (onions, leeks, garlic, cabbage, mushrooms and stock cubes - LOTS of herbs and seasoning, bulk it up with aubergine pieces,…

  • I use 1.5kg weights, and level 2 is kicking my *kitten*!!
  • I'm running my first ever marathon in July. It's a terrifying prospect, especially since I'm running it on my own :(

  • I'd like to bump this topic as well ... I LOVE my Metafit and Kettlercise classes, but have no idea how many calories they burn. I'm guessing loads cos these classes completely destroy me! I'm currently logging them as "Circuit Training" but would be eager to learn if there's a more accurate way to log these classes?

  • I know what that feels like!!! A few tips I like to use to keep hunger at bay when it strikes at unusual times: - drink lots of water. Have a glass when you're hungry, then have a snack - snack on fruit, rather than crackers/cheese etc (which is what I was doing!!) and you can eat loads of it without worrying too much…
  • MacDiver is right, it's more important to restrict what you eat than start building a home gym - which is why MyFitnessPal is such a great site, and a good way to start keeping track of what you're eating (I'm horrified by how much extra crap I'm shovelling down my neck!). But working out at home is easy enough - the trick…
  • There's a massive jump from Level 1 to Level 2 - I'm a huge fan of the Shred and converted all my girlfriends. When I first started the Shred last year, I found Level1 really really hard, but my mate (who is quite fit) found it easy. When she went on to Level 2 it almost destroyed her! The thing is though, once you get…
