Thank you all so much for the input and the helpful links. Staci's journey was especially interesting. I do some strength training, though maybe it doesn't count - it's an hourlong class at the gym where we use lighter weights (I use 2 7.5 pounders) and do various quickly-paced exercises, like bicep curls, triceps work,…

You don't sound rude at all! I'm only trying to get to around 130, possibly a bit less. I'm currently at 135. The reason I try to get "bang for my buck" is mostly because I like eating and have trouble limiting my calories... so I'd rather work out more so I can have more to eat. I think your body shape has a lot to do…
i am shorter than you and do less exercise, but my TDEE is around 2,200? which calculator are you using to get your TDEE?
I used this one: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

Thanks! That's a good point. I calculated my TDEE (with 7 days exercise) at 2255. So does that mean I eat that amount (minus like 10%) regardless of what the HRM says or how much I work out? I also calculated it via Fat to Fit (BMR), and I'm getting 2444 at the "very active" level (minus 10% to lose some weight). Do I use…

@collingmommy - I feel like that is what I'm netting - a little less, around 1300 per day. Hmm. @ars1300 - I'm still eating like 2,000 calories (or more) total per day - is that too little? It seems like kind of a lot to me. @vismal and @MrM - I guess my main issue is that I'm afraid to start doing more weight lifting…

I'm 5'8", and I'd like to get to 125-130. I'm currently hovering around 136 and can't seem to get any lower than that, no matter what I do. My highest was around 165. I'd be happy if I got to 130!

I've worn mine during a pilates class that mixed the reformer with springboard and some barre work. My heart rate doesn't get super high when I'm laying down, but certain exercises definitely get it higher! I just started Pilates and only do it maybe once a week - still getting the hang of it. Anyway, I burn about 310 cal…

My favorites, depending on the time of day and my mood: - Light and Fit Greek yogurt (80 cal) -150 g berries (blackberries, raspberries, or blueberries), or 300 g strawberries -300 g watermelon -Special K chips (110 cal for a pretty good-sized serving) -Dole Banana Dippers (sliced frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate -…

My favorites are the Healthy Choice steamers, particularly ravioli with chicken and a marinara sauce for 260 cal. The red pepper alfredo and chicken margarita ones are good, too... and I liked the "baked taste" ziti. I also like Smart Ones veggie lasagna quite a bit! It's dense and very satisfying. Smart Ones pasta with…

Get a digital kitchen scale and weigh, weigh, weigh! I weigh just about everything, even fruits and veggies (hey, they have calories, too!). Most foods have two "serving sizes" on the back - by cup, or by weight. The weight measurement will be more accurate. I usually use grams and find a listing in MFP that gives calories…

I would suggest that you eat back the calories that you exercise and eliminate the "cheat" day. Work in the foods you want in smaller portions during the week, and since you can eat a little bit more when you work out, you won't feel like you are starving or totally depriving yourself. For me, at least, I need to fuel my…

I absolutely LOVE chocolate! My favorite treats: -Trader Joe's dark chocolate covered marshmallows (3 for 120 cal) -Trader Joe's fiber-ful chocolate chip granola bars (120 cal, will keep you full) -Quest chocolate chip cookie dough bars (190 cal, stick 'em in the microwave for 15 seconds, and they are SO good and will keep…

I'm in just about the same place! I'm 5'8". SW: 160 CW: 143 GW: 135-140 I've hit several plateaus along the way, and have found that changing up my exercise routine, eating a little closer to my goals, and (maybe most of all) making a concerted effort to drink LOTS of water has helped me break through!

If I don't work out, I'm allotted 1290 calories - so I work out every single day, even if it's just a really long walk, just to get some extra cals. I had jury duty the other day and couldn't work out. By the end of the day, I felt crappy, tired, and depressed. I listened to my body and decided feeling so bad wasn't worth…
-
Totally agree! I don't usually eat every single calorie back, but if I don't work out, I'm at 1290 cal per day, and that is just not enough for me.

Recent favorites: 7 ounces Steelhead trout (tastes like salmon, but fewer calories and more sustainable) baked with jarred bruschetta sauce on top, plus a salad on the side. 4 ounces 96% lean ground beef cooked with onions, some seasonings, and a little salsa, served on a bed of lettuce with tomato, avocado, some light…

Vegan or just vegetarian? I like a hardboiled egg (70 cal)... or a protein/granola bar. Alternately, raw veggies like carrot sticks or celery and salsa for dipping?

Is it possible you have a fissure? That would explain the bleeding.
-
I agree with the others. I just count calories - I don't worry too much about carbs. However, I've learned that some carbs have a calorie count that, to me, is not really worth it. Bread and pasta are delicious, but for the amount of calories in 'em, I could eat way more of something else that would fill me up much better…

I have colitis, and during a flare, I'd eat almost exclusively plain, beige foods... mashed potatoes (or however you like 'em, but not fried), plain pasta, white bread toast, oyster crackers. Maybe a scrambled egg. My triggers were oily or fatty things, high fiber stuff like veggies or whole grains, dairy stuff, spicy…

Turkey burgers made with ground yellow squash, garlic, and onion, topped with a tomato mozzarella bruschetta and served on a bed of lettuce. Yum!!

I'd say listen to your body. That diet is really restrictive, and you probably can't stick to it indefinitely, so you'll have to learn how to eat more "normally" at some point if you want to maintain or lose. Nothing is really evil if you eat it in moderation.

It helps me to look for foods that ARE MyFitnessPal friendly as much as possible. Sure, that won't be every day, but on a normal day, I can look at the labels of what I'm eating and enter my food correctly. I very rarely come across a packaged food product that isn't in the MFP database. When I cook, I measure every last…

I've recently gotten into Dry Soda. It comes in several flavors and is not as sweet as regular soda, and it's made with 4 ingredients. I really love the vanilla bean kind - tastes like cream soda, and a 12 ounce bottle or can is 60 calories. Sometimes I need soda to settle my stomach - just something fizzy - and this…

I work out 6-7 days a week, and if I'm not at the gym, I try to get some sort of physical activity in, like a hike or a long walk. I do it because I like the rush I get after a workout, but I also feel pretty guilty if I don't... and if I don't, I only have 1290 calories to eat, and that is just not enough for me. I have a…

"Skinny" Crock Pot Chicken Tikka Masala over brown rice. Haven't made it before, but it's in my crock pot cooking right now, and it already smells amazing.
-
Probably 60-80 minutes 4-5 days a week - the 2-3 I do maybe 15 minutes. I love any kind of fitness class - I take spin classes, and on the days I do strength training, I hop on a treadmill to burn some extra calories before or after class. I'm motivated by the calorie count and my heart rate monitor... I love eating back…

I'm 5'8" and would ultimately like to be 140 - I keep hitting plateaus, but I'm trying to power through it. When I get to 140, I may think about 135, but I'm not sure that's doable for me. Currently working my butt off at the gym and counting calories religiously!

I tried Crossfit on a friends and family day, so I got to give it a try for free. I actually liked it a lot. The people were nice and not high pressure, there was a good combination of weights and cardio, and the workout went very quickly. You can scale down the workouts, and I used lighter weights than my partner. It's…

I am obsessed with these lately. I eat them before my morning workouts, and they keep me full until lunch! Probably all that fiber. I like the cookie dough ones heated up.
