  • While everyone's different and can have different results from the same plan, all I can tell you is that I'm completely sedentary (although now working on that) and I lost around 65 lbs in 11 months eating between 1450 - 1500 calories. (I'm 5' 7) I upped my calories to my maintenance level of around 1650 - 1700 before…
  • 63 here and what you see on my ticker took me around a year........ so, no, it's certainly not impossible! Edit to add 29kg is around 64 pounds.
  • Are you really losing weight by just counting calories and exercise? Yes to the counting calories (and staying more or less at goal each day) Is counting your calories teaching you to make better decision? Yup - make bad decisions and you can't stay at your calorie goal! What are you doing to make sure you stay under your…
  • I don't go by measurements because I have no clue to the answer to these questions - in spite of seeing numerous diagrams that tell me how to do it. Largely because none of them resemble my body in any way shape or form  Good luck!
  • My highest (and I lost some weight before I started MFP) was 37. Current is 26.3...... almost at normal :-)
  • Definitely made all the difference for me. I was a very heavy daily wine drinker and at the beginning of last year I swore off for a year (which also meant I cut out all the chips that went with the wine!). I lost consistently for that whole time and I know I wouldn't have achieved what I did without cutting out the wine.…
  • I started off using MFP's settings, with a goal of losing 1 lb per week, as suggested. Then I discovered that as I started to lose, my calorie allowance dropped!! Since then I've set my own goals and have been happy with my loss. They're currently set above my BMR and below TDEE, I'm not hungry and I do lose, so it works…
  • Wow - bit of a shock for you
  • Because fitness is problematic for me (I have some medical conditions that make regular exercise difficult), the most important thing for me is actually improved health - and it's weight loss that's continuing to drive that.
  • Thank you :blushing: And yes, I will definitely pop in here occasionally to see what people are up to!
  • Oh, and I've lost my 29 kg eating a fair proportion of my calories in the evening, usually after 7.30 pm. So - no, with the proviso that others have given, that it doesn't affect your ability to sleep comfortably.

  • I'm still here  And here's where I got to with my no wining: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/opal24/view/the-life-changer-474531 Nice to know you're still going well!
  • I lost 64 pounds doing the same thing - not a moron either!
  • Your success story was one of those that, when I first found the website and started logging properly last January, convinced me that I could actually lose the weight I needed to lose. Now you've confirmed for me that not only can I finish losing it, but I can also keep it off! Thank you - and huge congratulations! You do…
  • Congratulations! That is THE best feeling!!!
  • It's just an Excel spreadsheet - days along the top, months down the side, enter the weight each day and use the chart wizard to make your graph. I have weekly one as well....... I just love having a way of 'seeing' how the loss is going! I also find that it helps me not to freak out about any slow patches or upwards…
  • Yay Vacherin!! It's been great having you as company on this "interesting" experience!! If anyone else is thinking of doing the same, then I highly recommend seeing if you can friend someone doing the same thing. It was great being able to PM each other and swap feelings as the year went on. And huge congratulations on…
  • Have stuck it out to the bitter end, I'm proud to say! So tonight's the last night (New Year's Eve here in NZ). Unfortunately, no one in the house is going to be awake at midnight and they don't drink anyway........... hoping I can find someone to break the drought with me tomorrow evening!!
  • 61 lbs in 355 days on MFP - and pretty much all through just diet as I have problems exercising.
  • I'm guessing that a lot of people will have either cut right back or cut it out completely to keep within their calorie count - that would explain why you don't see it in many diaries! When I go back to it after a year off I'll definitely be logging it - not counting it in the first place is why I'm here :drinker:

  • Hi - good to hear from you. I'm still here, still dry, but counting down now.......... 34 1/2 days to go :-) And like Vacherin I'm finding that the closer I get to the end the more I miss it. I'm really not looking forward to the next month of Christmas social activities, but I'm absolutely determined to get through them -…
  • Absolutely all I did to lose around 60 pounds in 11 months was to enter my stats into MFP, tell them that I wanted to lose 1 pound per week, and eat the number of calories they told me to (I tried to get as close to that number as I could - NOT trying to see how far under I could be!). Because I'm basically completely…
  • Lovely NSV! And kids are so honest - you must have really shrunk!

  • My diary is open and I'm here every day. I do like to have friends who want to interact (I try and comment regularly), and I love to see healthy diaries I can get good ideas from.
  • Hi - thanks for the invitation! My name's Christine. I'm 63 years old, born in the UK, but have lived two thirds of my life in New Zealand (migrated when I was 21). I now live in Auckland with my 3 cats. I'm many years divorced. I have 4 adult children - boys (well, men!) aged 38, 36 and 33, and a 30 year old daughter. My…
  • 63 here and I've lost 61pounds, most of it since the beginning of this year. Not too much in the way of problems with loose/saggy skin although there is a bit of that - and I'm much older than you are! So don't despair, if I can do it you certainly can  Edited to add that I think the key is to just take it as slowly…
  • I'm 63 next week and I've lost 55 pounds since January this year. I have a number of medical issues that make it difficult for me to exercise (including an autoimmune disease affecting my joints, and fibromyalgia) so it's all pretty much been lost through diet alone. Every time I try to exercise I have a flare up, so have…
  • Yes, even without exercise - just diet, I've gone from 140+/90 to 125/79. Definitely works.
