When ya'll say "set your own," does this mean you can adjust what the "allotted" amounts are for different categories? If so, can you tell me how to do this? I had a feeling it could be done, but for the life of me couldn't find where to do that.

I am okay with a higher fat and protein allowance (and calories to some extent), and I want a lower carb allowance. Many days I go over or way under certain ones, and it would be nice to not see so much RED at the end of the day.

Thanks for any help people can offer to me!
You cannot do it from the app.
Go to My Home>Goals>Change Goals>Custom and then you can adjust your macro percentages manually

I started off using MFP's settings, with a goal of losing 1 lb per week, as suggested. Then I discovered that as I started to lose, my calorie allowance dropped!! Since then I've set my own goals and have been happy with my loss. They're currently set above my BMR and below TDEE, I'm not hungry and I do lose, so it works for me

I use mfp's calorie goals and don't really pay attention to macros (but I'm generally way over on protien). For calories, mfp's numbers (provided I eat back exercise calories) come in the same as TDEE-20%, but I've been injured and/or ill too many times to feel comfortable automatically including exercise that I may or may not be able to do. I do average things out for the week-so on days I don't work out, I'm "over", and on days I do, I'm usually "under".

Nope. I set my calorie goal on the advice of my doctor and nutritionist. I don't eat calories back, again on their advice. I set my macros to 55 carbs/ 20 fat/ 25 protein, but I don't even track either carbs or sugars. Instead, I track calories, fat, protein, calcium, fiber, and sodium.
It's working for me so far

I'm using MFP's recommendations. I've calculated my BMR and TDEE, and found the numbers are very similar to what I am allotted through MFP. However, since I like to eat back my exercise calories instead of having a consistent number each week, I've decided to stick to MFP's setup. It works well for my life.

I set my own goals since only I know what my actual TDEE is. So no, I did it through application of eating the maximum amount of calories to maintain my body weight then basing my cuts and surpluses on that number.
