This makes sense to this lifting beginner. I am starting to incorporate some free weights, use machines mostly, but have a history of joint issues, am obese and don't want to injure myself! Taking it slowly and increasing the resistance regularly as the reps get easier. Starting to love it!

Monopoly! Love the competitiveness!

I agree! I pay £41 / month...swimming and gym...but ltd equipment in gym! WhatI love about it is it is very quiet..usually have the pool and gym to myself! Adult guests pay £5 and children 12 and under £2.50! I left a gym that cost £17 / month for this one! Mainly for access to a pool!

FR sent! Can so empathise with you! Lots of us do this and I know I am gonna get the weight off, get fitter and keep it off this time! Determined!

Weighed once a week initially, then paranoia has set in and sees me weighing dail/ every couple of days! My scales are going…

Tycho_mx - pretty sure everything logged and accurate....suggests too many cals?! Ready2 Rock - steroids increase appetite and cause abdo distension (less severe side effects..lol!) .....I hadn't thought that not gaining is ok! Another perspective....cheers for that!

Thanks Belgarath and Williams969.... Backs up what I am thinking...for now! I could do ok on slightly less calories, but I do feel I exercise enough to need those 1700 to get enough protein in!
-
Ccpeace: I have read elsewhere to stick to a plan for a good while! So I will give it another week before seeking more advice, and perhaps reducing! Thanks!

Ninkyou : cheers for your reply! Yes, I weigh everything, every morsel! I stick to the 1700 calorie end too, generally....sonThat if I go over, it is not gonna be masses over 1900, the upper limit!

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through! First, give yourself some time to recover and get your head around it. Then talk to your doctors about your dietary requirements...I wish I had used my doctors and nurse specialist more when it came to this aspect. I am hypothyroid, amongst other things, and from what I've…

Bump! 3 weeks back, no loss yet! No gain either! Will need this post over the next few weeks, me thinks!

Lots of great advice given here, can't add to it really, but frozen veg, fruit and canned are staples in this house as have to budget to make ends meet here too! We live in a quiet suburb and whilst grow some of our own, there are plenty of growers who sell their excess wares! Currently rhubarb for 50p a large portion, so…
