  • I love setting goals, it definitely helps me stay on track. For September my goals are: - minimum 70K steps per 7 days (average 10K steps/day) as per fit bit - minimum 10 miles running per week - Strength work out 3 times a week - 1 new recipe per week (5 total)
  • I am going for my Trifecta next year as well! I did the "Boston" sprint over the weekend and had a blast.
  • This weather is killing my ability to get in any runs. I have managed to keep walking but it is not the same. There is supposed to be a break in the temps soon so hopefully I can get in some solid miles before the end of the month.
  • Welcome! I completely understand Happy = pounds. When my I met my hubby I weighed 146 lbs, when we got married 2 years later I was 175 and a couple years after getting married I was over 200. Luckily, hubby is 100% on board with getting healthy (he has never been overweight but has lots of health risks due to genetics) so…

  • My latest NSV has to do with my profile picture. At my last race my friend was goofing off and told me to show her my muscles. So I "flexed" figuring my picture would look silly. When I saw this picture I was amazed. It is hard for me to see the way my body has changed eventhough I have not lost any weight in almost 2…
  • Great to see so many people, new and old looking to be active. We have a summer weight loss thread and an August miles tracking thread pinned at the top. Feel free to join! I am looking forward to supporting everyone on their journeys.
  • Have fun! The biggest thing with any of the OCR races is to not be afraid to ask for help and know your limitations. Everyone in the community is very helpful and most are willing to give a boost over a wall. Spartan races like to carry heavy things. Practice carrying weight and walking 0.5 miles. Sometimes is a pancake…
  • Starting weight (7/10):165 Goal for challenge: 159 Week 1 (7/17): No weigh in (vacation) Week 2 (7/24): 166.6 Week 3 (7/31): No weigh in (traveling) Week 4 (8/7) Week 5 (8/14) Week 6 (8/21) Week 7 (8/28) Week 8 (9/4) Didn't weigh in this weekend. I was traveling with family and forgot to weigh before we left. I am hoping…
  • I am setting my miles at 65 for this month. I have been slacking. Since I haven't manage 100 miles yet this year I decided to set a more reasonable goal. Time to get moving!
  • I was away for the weekend, working on it now, should be posted shortly!
  • I recently had a co-worker comment that I look strong. It made my day. I have been maintaining weight for the last 2 years so knowing that someone who sees me everyday sees a difference makes me happy.
  • Never too late! Join right in. Use this week as your starting weight for the challenge and when setting your goal keep in mind that there is only 6 weeks remaining. Welcome!
  • Starting weight (7/10):165 Goal for challenge: 159 Week 1 (7/17): No weigh in (vacation) Week 2 (7/24): 166.6 Week 3 (7/31): Week 4 (8/7) Week 5 (8/14) Week 6 (8/21) Week 7 (8/28) Week 8 (9/4) A little bummed about being up a bit after vacation. Logged it and am moving forward. Here's to a good week next week!
  • Managed a hot and sweaty run tonight. 5.7 slow miles done. I have a 5 mile OCR on Saturday. Should be interesting! Wish me luck!
  • Terra Chips are so delicious! I won't by big bags of them for that exact reason. I try to find my indulgent hard to resist foods in small bags so I don't have to worry about if I can't exert my will power when I want to.
  • Welcome Ashley and Becca! @Ashley- kids are draining on energy and definitely make this journey a little harder (IMO). I have an almost 5 year old and 2.5 year old and I feel like I am just constantly exhasted. Good Luck! @Becca- I also have a desk job. That really makes activity during the day tougher. I do my best to get…
  • How is everyone doing this week? Staying on track? What struggles are you having? For me the biggest struggle is exercise. It is 90 degrees out and oppressive with the humidity. I was supposed to do a group workout in the park yesterday but no-one showed (probably the heat). Instead of working out I did a little work in…
  • Lowered my goal. I was on vacation last week and eventhough I know I walked an swam a lot and probably logged a bunch of miles, I have no way to trully estimate. I am aiming for 50 (25 more for the rest of the month) and then I will reassess in August.
  • Welcome all that have posted in the last week! I was on vacation and it was great to come back and see this board lit up with intros! There is a miles challenge posted as as well as a weight loss challenge, Feel free to join in for extra support. Also, feel free to add me as a friend, I am on everyday (unless away for…
  • Back from vacation, no weigh in for me on 7/17. I am focusing on getting back on track this week and will weigh in and see if I did any damage then! Starting weight (7/10):165 Goal for challenge: 159 Week 1 (7/17): No weigh in (vacation) Week 2 (7/24): Week 3 (7/31): Week 4 (8/7) Week 5 (8/14) Week 6 (8/21) Week 7 (8/28)…

It is going to be tough with BBQs, vacation, and summer shenanigans but I am determined to…
  • I will get something up by the end of the week. Things have been stupid crazy here getting ready for vacation!
  • Please post introductions in the pinned thread at the top of the page.
  • I hadn't created one because it fizzled out last time but if there is interest I will create one tonight and post this evening.
  • Very slow start to the month for me. My ankle is feeling better so I am going to try a run tonight. If it holds up, I will start packing on the miles this month!
  • Welcome Sam, Laura, and Gatsby! @SamC_2015: I completely understand how your can reach your goal weight and be miserable and unhealthy. 3 years ago I was ~10-12 pounds lighter and was completely unhappy. I would indulge in crap and then starve myself to make up for it. It took a lot of work and soul searching but now I am…
  • Glad to have you on board. This journey is really about finding yourself and learning how to be a healthier version of yourself. Having supportive people who have been through similar struggles can make all the difference. On of my strongest lines of support comes from a group of women I met on MFP when first started. Use…
  • Spartan trifecta is on my bucket list or next year! My plan is to volunteer at the mass races this year to get enough free races to trifecta for free next year. Great having you here in this group!
  • I am in a music funk. I definitely need to find some new tunes for working out and for enjoyment listening.
