  • Yeah protein shakes and broth are so boring! I want to chew something! I might try ice chips or something. I can't do the jello or popsicles...blechhh.
  • I just started the process down the road to surgery. Right now in the medically supervised diet phase, surgery will likely be January 2016. Feel free to add me if you'd like!
  • Me! I'm in Nebraska.
  • I would get through half a day on that 'diet' before i threw in the towel. Not sustainable.
  • I've been upping my protein with edamame steamed in the pod. they're fun to eat, tasty, and filling. I've also been doing one protein shake/day, and chicken breast for dinner.
  • I have just started my journey towards weight loss surgery, but I have two kiddos as well, ages, 5 and 8. I've been trying to transition my eating habits from being relatively carb-heavy to very little carbs, which doesn't work well for kids. I have just been making up my own meals so far and kept doing their own meals for…
  • I haven't had my surgery yet, but my mom initially had the lap band and has since revised to the sleeve. She actually has plateaued and wants to revise again to the full bypass, but not sure if her surgeon is going to do it or not. From what my bariatric team has described, they're seeing a lot of sleeve patients that tend…
  • If you have your activity level set according to your daily routine at work etc, then you wouldn't want to log it separately each day. Your calorie goal is determined by how you select your activity level, so it like double logging if you also add it in each day.
  • I just got a jawbone up24 about a week ago, and I really like it so far. It's not so much for the calories burned since I Know that's likely inaccurate, but I like that it imports my food from MFP and that it tracks my steps and sleep. My sleep schedule is really wacked so it's nice to see how much deep/light sleep I get…
  • Do you see an endocrinologist or just your PCP? I cannot stress enough how important it is to be seen by a specialist for thyroid conditions. I never would have gotten the right treatment and dosage if I hadn't gotten into see an Endocrinologist for a second opinion.
  • Are you seeing your primary care doc or an endocrinologist? A primary care doctor will tell you that TSH levels below 5 are normal, but an endocrinologist will want to see you below 3 for TSH. I'd go to a specialist if I were you if you really want a second opinion. I just started seeing my Endo because my TSH levels…
  • I'd ask your doctor about the high resting heartrate to see if that will be a problem with exercising. I'm very obese but my resting heartrate is around 65-70, and I can get up to 170 with exercise without any problems. I'd be concerned about exercise if you're starting with a higher resting heartrate.
  • I just got the up24 and really like it so far. I like that it tracks my sleep patterns and keeps track of how much I'm moving. I sync it to MFP so it imports my daily food log into the app. And I like how it reminds you to move and keeps track of your steps. I got a pretty decent deal on amazon so I'm pretty happy with it.
  • I was on phentermine several years ago and didn't last more than a few days. Couldn't sleep, had the jitters and heart palpitations, and I felt like I was high on meth. No thanks.
  • It's really refreshing to see all these successful hypo/hashimoto sufferers losing weight! sounds like I'm on the highest dose of meds at 250 MCG daily to try to get this under control. Feel free to friend me!
  • Well PCPs and Endos go by different standards. PCPs say that levels below 5 are fine, but my endo wants to see mine at 2 or below. Right now they're at 9, and that's after 18 months on meds. She now has my dosage at 250 MCG upped from 125 MCG.
  • Do you see an endocrinologist sbashe? I'd highly recommend seeing a specialist versus a PCP for this. Every one that I know that has been dealing with hypothyroidism agrees that seeing an endocrinologist is a must.
  • I am severely hypothyroid and just started seeing an endocrinologist. I had been on meds for 18 months and my PCP was slowly increasing the dose, but my thyroid levels were still 4 times as high as they should be. My endo doubled my current dose, and I'm only a few days into the new dose and I can already tell a…
  • I also have hypothyroidism, so I feel you OP! I've been on meds for 18 months, but my levels are still very high. I actually saw my new endocrinologist today, and I love her. She actually doubled my dosage from 125 mcg to 250 mcg since my levels at 125 were still at a 9 when they shouldn't be more than 2. I'm hoping that…
  • My face is naturally a bit flush so any kind of exercise makes me automatically turn red. Has been that way since I was a kid so I'm just used to it now.
  • This is awesome to hear! Congrats on your weight loss. I hope to have the same results.
  • I've started using free weights for arms while i'm at home. Gym machines intimidate me a bit since it's been so long since i've used them.
  • I wish my community center had a pool. Right now I'm just using the 24 hour fitness that's 5 minutes from my house. It's costing me $25 month (paid up front for the year right at $300 including all fees etc) so it's not bad, and not many people use the pool.
  • I work 5:30 pm - 2:00 am, but am typically up early with my kids, so I try to keep a relatively normal eating schedule. I don't log my meals as "breakfast, lunch dinner" but by Numbers since sometimes my 'dinner' can be late in the evening for my lunch break at work. Seems to work better since there are times where i don't…
  • Anybody can add me! I'm getting back to it after a hiatus, so I'm always looking for more support!
  • I haven't tried any classes are anything, mainly because my gym's only aqua class is at like 9:15 am and I don't swim til after I drop my daughter off at preschool at 11:45. Can't afford the Y currently but might look into that in the future. I'm just glad to have a pool available 24/7 so I can swim whenever I want. Also…
