A stall already??
Hey guys! I'm a month out from the RNY. I lost almost 20 lbs in the first two weeks since surgery (45 altogether), but I've been at a stall since then! I'm sticking to my food plan so I don't understand why the weight isn't coming off. I get around 800 calories a day, and don't really have cravings or snacks or anything…

Surgery in One Week...it's getting real
I'm halfway through my liquid diet with surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. I've lost about 12 pounds on the liquid diet so far (22 lbs total in 6 month prep period), but the head hunger is wreaking havoc on the liquid diet! I've been pretty good for the most part, sticking to protein shakes made with skim milk, broth, and…

Swimming Plus ???
Does anybody else swim as their regular form of exercise? I'm a big gal so I just started swimming as it's easy on my joints, but I am curious if I should be adding anything else to my routine? I've been swimming laps for 30 minutes and I can definitely tell that my muscles are being used, but should I be lifting or…

Tips
I've just starting swimming again after years away from it. I used to swim competitively in high school which was about 10 years ago. Sadly I've grown to be very overweight/obese and out of shape. I joined my local gym and have been swimming laps for about 35 minutes each day. Just curious if you all had any tips for…

"Retraining" your taste buds?
So I'm pickier than I'd like to be. I really don't eat any fruit, but I do like most veggies (though I'm getting better). I always see recipes that look REALLY yummy and then realize i wouldn't like half the ingredients in it. :( Can you retrain your tastebuds to like foods that you normally wouldn't enjoy?

Atheists Go to church for their kids
http://news.yahoo.com/atheists-church-doing-children-225034079.html He probably won't get down on his knees, but that fellow sitting near you during the Sunday church service just may be an atheist. And a scientist. A new study out of Rice University has found that 17 percent -- about one out of five scientists who…

God asking you to sacrifice your own child?
I don't know why I get myself into these debates on Facebook, but one of my colleagues/friends posted the question: "What would you have done if God asked you to make the sacrifice Abraham was asked? (Genesis 22:1-19)" I said that I would assume I was crazy if I were hearing voices in my head and seek help. What concerns…

Prayer in Schools
Here's a VERY good transcript of a discussion/presentation regarding religion in schools. All contributions came from either people of faith or Pastors/Reverends. I personally found it quite refreshing that there are people of faith who object to schools leading prayers and sponsoring religious activities, etc. It's a long…

Largest group on MFP?
Okay maybe it's just me, but I've seen a group titled "Largest Group on MFP" with the sole purpose of simply having the most members. Posting is optional, there's no other reason to have the group. I think that is really stupid. LOL. Waste of bandwidth!

Chicken with Lemon Wine Sauce
So I made up a meal tonight and it was quite yummy! Here's what I did: Saute 1 package Tyson Chicken Tenderloins (the one I used was 1.33 lbs with 10 'tenderloins' in it, each tenderloin is 2 oz) in olive oil (or you can use no-calorie cooking spray if you want). I also seasoned mine up with garlic powder, onion powder,…

Tailbone Pain?
So I was doing Level 2 of 30DS, specifically the first portion of ab exercises lying flat on the floor. I sat up and as I went to stand up, I felt something 'strange' in my tailbone. Not really a pop or anything, but it just felt odd for a second. Now it's sore...not like shooting pain or anything severe, but more annoying…

My new fave breakfast!
So I'm trying to eat earlier and have it be something healthy. Generally I don't like oatmeal, but yesterday I made it and added a scoop of ON Nitrocore 24 protein powder to it. It wasn't too bad, but a little calorie heavy since I made it with milk and not water. This morning, i made the oatmeal with water, added the…

Small rant
Ok so I'm a big girl. 320 lbs to be exact. I Know, I know, I'm huge. But I'm working on it. I work out while I'm on break at work, usually doing 30 minutes of huffing it on the elliptical or the 30DS. I work out with 2 coworkers, both considerably smaller than me. I'm still working on Level 1 of 30DS, partly because I want…

Kind of a NSV...
So I my 2 friends/colleagues and I work out on our lunch break at work every night. We've been doing 30DS Level 2, and I am having a really hard time with the plank stuff. I just simply am not strong enough to hold my weight up by my arms AND do other things like the plank jacks, etc. On one of the exercises, I gave up on…

Should I be doing more?
So in addition to tracking my calories, I also am doing 30DS 5 days a week. I've been seeing some weight come off even just in the past 5 days that I've been working out. But it's only a 20 minute workout, and while I can complete the whole thing (and feel like I'm going to die lol), it's still only 20 minutes. Should I be…

Restricted?? Hahahahaha.
I found this on Yahoo's photospread of stars who have lost weight: "Russell Crowe gained 63 lb. for the 2008 movie "Body of Lies" but then had a tough time getting all that weight off. Recently he got himself on a grueling health regime that involved 105 days of training and a diet restricted to 2,400 calories a day. "If i…

Looking forward to working out???
I must be dreaming but I actually am looking forward to Jillian kicking my *kitten* in the 30DS today. I've only done it about 5 times but I like it! I'm going to 'officially' start Level 1 on Monday since I have missed a few days of working out in the past week (30DS means you have to do it every day, yes?)

Help me break a BAD habit....
So I need a good kick in the pants I think. Nearly every day on my way to work, I stop at Scooters (it's like Starbucks but better) and get a large 24 oz Mocha Smoothie (like a Mocha Frappuccino) with whip. This thing is like 400-something calories. Now I'm still staying within my calorie goal regularly, but this habit…
