  • I have not used the boards much either. I, too, am an on again and off again gal. I have lost 20+ pounds in the past only to put it on again over the last 2-3 years. I want to lose 10 pounds by March (figure that is a realistic goal :-) and have done it before using my fitness pal and know I can do it again. Feel free to…
  • You are NOT a failure! I feel defeated sometimes. Now is one of those times for me too. I have put back on weight that I lost before but I am determined to to make this work. It is not about excuses but about one step at a time and finding a way to change old habits! You can do this!
  • Mine sound like rice krispies when I walk up and down stairs :-) No pain either. I have been taking the supplements too-but not a lot of results. I will have to try the quad and hamstring exercises and see if that helps.
  • I'm in too.. SW (Dec. 2010) 197 CW 175 (has been up and down for the last 3 months) GW by Christmas - get back under 170 (168 preferably)
  • I teach special education and have worked with hearing impaired students over the past 15 years. One thing we always suggest is watching TV and movies with the closed captions on. This gives the child more exposure to the words as they hear them and see them. He is going to struggle because he missed some of the sounds…
  • I walked the dog and then turned to the treadmill to get in my c25k training. Even though I have been fighting back pain and have lost and gained the same 4 pounds over and over, I got up and got moving. Thanks for reminding me to focus on TODAY. I made today a success!!
  • I am just a little further south than you Dottie, in Ohio. We have raspberry salsa and peach salsa. I believe I have had them from Rothchild's farms. You can get them on line and not too bad for you either. The chips you put it on is worse-but some people like pretzels with it and the raspberry pretzel dip (kind of a…
  • Right there with you. I will find a little success and then struggle again. I think I have lost the same 3 pounds over and over in the last month or so. It is good you have supportive friends. Your back will heal and then your work will pay off even more-until then, hang in there and do what you can. Nothing worth having…
  • I can sympathize too. I do have a much more structured work week so the weekends seem very tempting. I have learned it is okay to go out but be very aware of what choices you are making. I will look at a menu ahead of going out to eat. I try to make a healthier choice without feeling like I am "losing out" on anything. If…

  • Very well said-a thought for all of us to consider.
  • We love you too, Erica! Thanks for all your support. Glad your friend shared the info on MFP with you. You have been a great inspiration and motivator to me too. Congrats on such wonderful success...and KEEP SMILING!!!
  • I usually walk about 3.5-4 miles in an hour. How about you?
  • I have a Arnold's sandwich thin, toasted with low fat ham and low fat swiss cheese. I usually use half of the thin (50 cal.), half the ham serving (Oscar Meyer deli fresh 30 cal), and low fat swiss (60 cal)-then add a piece of fruit and water. Protein, fiber and fruit and around 200 cal-so you could add egg too if you like…
  • Awesome pic! I have lost 14 and can see a bit of a difference-but can't wait to see much more! Great job-keep sharing. thanks
  • Discovered I can pull my one pair of dress pants off without even unbuttoning them... hopefully, no one is into pants-ing anymore?!
  • I agree, I think you need protein to help keep you going. I usually have half of an Arnolds sandwich thin, toasted with some lean ham (Oscar Meyer deli fresh types) and reduced fat swiss cheese. A piece of fruit rounds it out and is still under 200 calories.
  • I am just under 5' 8" and weigh 183. I have a 1230 cal goal each day (without exercise). Your calories are based on what you put in as your lifestyle and what you want to lose. I eat salad for lunch a lot or a low fat sandwich made on the sandwich thins (only 100 cal. per bun and lots of fiber). I try to do a protein…
  • When I know something is not going to be on the database, I use a similar item and do a "best guess" estimate. It will not hurt you to have a fun night out and enjoy pizza with your family. You might be able to ask the place to go a little lighter on the cheese is you think it is too much. Just remember that you have been…
  • Thanks for sharing. I work in a high school and see first hand how mean some kids can be to one another on a daily basis. I have also had the fortune to see the caring compassionate side of kids too. This is a great "food for thought" post.
  • It was one meal. Don't beat yourself up! You will make better choices over the next few days to make up for it. Besides, many fitness folks say it is okay to have a cheat day now and then. I went there last night and was about 400 calories over my calorie count for the day. My husband and I split a dish and I go for salad…
  • The columbus zoo is great! My kids love this zoo and the extra rides and water park make it a nice family weekend getaway.
  • I am from Englewood, Ohio-just North of the Dayton area. Go Bucks!!
  • I record my treadmill under walking or jogging with the speed. For example, I used the treadmill tonight at a 3.5 mph speed and burned 191 calories. When you type in the time it will give you estimated calories; if you know your calorie count, then you can put in that number. Mine will adjust for times that I run then walk…
  • That is awesome! Last week when I went out with my husband (17 years) we shared a meal and even a dessert. It felt so good to not be stuffed. It just goes to show that you can enjoy one another without all the food. Was it a good movie? Congrats on a great night!
  • Try adding more protein to your snacks; like some natural peanut butter with your apple or some cheese; nuts are also a good source. This will stick with you longer and help you to fill fuller. Also watch your water intake. If you are exercising more, you could just be dehydrated. Often feeling hungry is really just…
  • I have not done the 17 day diet, but some folks at work have. They say it works great. One lady lost 9.5 lbs the first week. I have had past successes on Atkins style diets but I agree they are hard to maintain for long. I think cutting back the carbs/starches can help-even if it is for a few days to jump start the system.…
  • I make some extra grilled, boneless skinless chicken breast over the weekend. Then I can cut them up into right sized portions and have them on a salad (easy to put 2 cups of pre-cut salad in a to go bowl and have handy) or use a light Flatout flatbread wrap with chicken, light cheese, or whatever you like. I also love the…
  • I am not in HS or college, actually I teach at a HS. I just wanted to tell you good luck and to say I have been there before, too. Good for you for working on it now. It will be a challenge in the college world but you can do it. Find friends on campus with the same goals. Good luck!
  • You can do this! As a mom of three boys and a lot of pregnancy/bad habit weight, I know it just takes the will. Eat often but small and work out as often as you can with out making yourself crazy:tongue: Someone once said that you should eat like a queen at breakfast, like a princess at lunch, and like at pauper at dinner.…
  • Glad we can try to tackle this together. I want to stay on target this time. My family is going to Walt Disney World in March and I would like to feel good about being in pictures again.:embarassed:
