If I don't get enough protein, eat too much sugar (even if it's within calorie guidelines) and don't work out I can set myself up for a binge. Learning about leptin and how it affects the body was extremely helpful to me.

WOW!!!! What an incredible story. Thanks for sharing your perseverance that resulted in this monumental success.

I tried the shakes a couple of summers ago. It was a challenge trying to come up with interesting flavors....then I realized that there were interesting flavors in berries, melons, salads, and grilled food. So I quit the shakes and went for the real food.

I use the elliptical about 40 minutes 5-6 times a week at the gym. I like it for the cardiovascular benefits right now. At 58 I need to get my heart rate up and get the metabolism moving a little faster. I also use the treadmill and the arc trainer and alternate the rowing machine and free weights. It's not my favorite…

I've been debating throwing out the sugar, but, I don't want to (quite yet anyway). I know I feel better without the copious amounts I was eating but I do like that Reeses Peanut Butter Cup or Mountain Dew on a very regular basis. Kudo's to you for making the decision to eliminate the empty calories!!

I have protein for breakfast, usually cottage cheese. If I start the day with a mostly carb meal there aren't enough calories to fill me up for the rest of the day.

Don't care!, it's yummy:)

Yup, it's a cheapy from Wal-Mart. Not only does it help keep from too much but also from too little. Also use measuring spoons.

Yeah for you!!!!! Sounds like you took time to plan your treat, enjoyed it in a preplanned manner, and savored it! I LOVE Reese PB Cups also and I have them frequently. Sometimes I scarf them down right away, other times I share with my DGC, and then there are times when I do the slowly savor each tiny bite.

Yup, I eat at least half of them back. Depends on the day and the hunger level if I decide to eat more than half of them. I usually burn 800-1000 calories in exercise which does give me room for some fun stuff.

I log it all....no matter what I eat or drink. It helps me to realize the good consequences and the less than stellar consequences of my food/drink choices.

Congratulations!!!

what a fun read!!! Thank you for sharing your narrow escape from this harrowing, nightmare experience.

I record it all. For me it is an honest assessment of my day. Today was a cheat day with no exercise and even though I am a little uncomfortable because I am full I needed to know where I was at calorie wise. I can convince myself that "it wasn't that much". Overtime that adds up to 10 pounds and I tell myself, "It's only…

So far the days I've been snowed out of the gym have been on a rest day. However, if I were snowed in I would use the TV to my advantage and either workout to a DVD or just march in place during a movie, do some squats, or just make up some dance moves. Watch a ZUMBA infomercial for some ideas. I hope you get dug out soon.

I noticed about 13 pounds and it was primarily how my clothing fit. I was able to button the bottom button of my coat and I went down a size in my jeans.

Thanks for the encouragement Aubrey!

Massage and chiro if you can afford it.

Like the commercial says, "Epic". Congratulations on finding a way to accomplish your goal!! I'd like to be able to ski at any weight. Just too darn chicken to try.
-
You have a wonderful support system!!! It is difficult when our mothers tell us that we are going to fail:(. I am fortunate to still have my mom and fortunate that she is a cheerleader in my weight loss effort. You are armed (with information) and dangerous (determined to succeed)!
-
All I can add to what has been said is my Congratulations!!! (Sometimes the skinny comments are made by overweight people that are jealous-you decide what you want to look like.)

Don't set yourself up thinking each day is going to be perfect, they aren't. If you enjoyed yourself, which I hope you did, now you need to get over your guilt and get on with it. It's a lifestyle change and it sounds like you experienced some life!

Awesome Job!! Thanks for sharing your success.

You look awesome!! Job is well done.

Wow!!! You have done a fabulous job and are truly an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your story.

Yes, I too am a lurker on the success boards. You look amazing and congratulations on your efforts!
-
Congratulations to you!!!
-
Yup, did it today as a matter of fact.

challenge yourself......I started doing that at the gym. Thought I'd die after 2 1/2 minutes on the elliptical, lived to do it again another day, made it 15 minutes, now I can make it through 30 minutes. Be honest with your food log and don't give up.

Once a week I go to a Zumba class, although cancelled tonight due to the snow:(. Zumba is fun even though I have no dance coordination/ability whatsoever. Our instructor said that between 500-1000 calories are burned an hour.
