  • you are doing great!! most gyms have five pound rubberized plates that you place on top of the weight stack. you should look around/ask.

  • Wow...did 5A1 today...and I totally kicked it!!! The four reps was interesting. I may extend this stage bcse its so challenging. Once you contol the weight, its not so bad, but gettting into position, I think I may kill myself!

  • so, you have been doing 10 sets? you are going to be able to significantly up your weights when you drop down to three sets of ten!

  • how many sets of each exercise are you doing? the whole point of a long stage one is to get your form down and get you comfortable with the weights. I would just pick up with 3 sets of 10 for 1A5.

  • good morning ladies - in hot st louis today. No workout for me and business breakfast and lunch...dinner will be a protein bar so I dont go overboard eating at the airport. I do cardio so that I can eat more, but I also do cardio because I want to be in good cardiovascular shape... manic - I had breast cancer, diagnosed @…
  • there are some moves that I go through the entire stage without adding weight. it is crucial to the program that you add weight when you can. agree w/emtabo that its harder to add weight when you are focusing on smaller muscles.
  • I agree with you. if the plates are hitting what is getting you off the ground, there is no point. not sure why it makes your back arch (do you mean round?) if its just like doing them from the ground... on the BSS, I use dumbbells. a bar would work, but I would use dumbbells to work on your grip strength.

  • the more often you go, the stronger you will get. the stronger you get, the more confident you will be. At my gym, everyone is super nice and helpful...looks can be deceiving!
  • DYNAMITE!!! You are doing great! keep it up!
  • Aw beeps, you're just jealous! ;-). I promise my next report will be NR 5A1!!!
  • Yea! We rolled over to part 2! Jo - wow..that is great progress. make sure that you are contining to keep your core tight and use your legs on the way down, too. I am sure you know this, but its important to control the weight on the way down, too. Glad you found a gym.

  • lb2ll - hope your day today is better! emgel - I am doing the warrior dash in July. Can't wait! beeps - maybe we need to start a new challenge since everyone is fading. on my last post, I said I was ready to take a nap. I actually did get back into bed and snuggled with my 9 year old. It was awesome and just what I needed…
  • Hi ladies - glad to see so many of you starting the program! I just finished stage 4...can't wait until stage 5 on Thursday! check in with us in the daily chat thread, too!
  • totally agree with emtab. adjust for what works for you on the eating front. this group is all over the place on the diet front. also agree that getting enough protein is the key, but again some of us shoot for 25-30% of cals, other 40% or more. 1g per pound of body weight or 1g per kg of LBM are rules of thumb that some…
  • done with stage 4! did 4B4 yesterday. progress: FSPP: 65 to 70 step up: stayed @70, but moved up to 6 risers one pt row: 60 to 70...70 was too heavy to keep good form lunge RFE: 54 to 70 pushup:65 total to 96 total plank: 105 to 120 horiz wood chop: 70 to 75 wide grip deadlift: 125 to 140 (keeping on the 70 pound…

  • ok...done with stage 4. I am going on vacation this weekend, but I think stage 5, more than any other, can be done in a hotel gym. Wish me luck!!
  • chuckles - i think if you have been steadily gaining weigh for a month that you should cut back your cals. You are in the "eating maintenance" phase? cut 300/day and see how you do. My body weighs about 2 pounds more with the water weight from lifting, fyi. sue - it sounds like you had a great weekend! samantha - i hate…
  • beeps - I was 263 over my target...not sure what star that is. This is the best I have done since we started the challenge.
  • yes, beans are awesome!
  • happy monday everyone!! I got up early and polished of stage four this am! Yeah!! Beck...see you in Stage 5 on Thursday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and mother's day! Manic - that is so awesome! I have been cancer free for just a year, so I LOVE hearing good stories! ...and two out of the nest: excellent! LB2LL -…
  • cool! thanks for the feedback!
  • hi chuckles - 1. you should feel the move in your arms and upper back, not your lower back. you need to focus on bringing your shoulder blades together. 2. not sure what triangle attachment you are referring to. My book has the short bar. I use that.

  • great job!!! keep up the hard work!
  • hey all - my workout 4A4 report is pretty simple: 3 sets of everything at 70 pounds, except pushups I did 5 sets (20,20,20,20,15...so close to 100 total!) and wood chop, I was at 75 pounds. Totally random that everything is at the same weight! my one point rows should be a little less, as my balance is really an issue on…

  • sam - you play, you pay...seriously, you KNOW you got a great workout in yesterday! beck - sorry I am being a laggard getting to stage 5! zafitg - great job on you 100lb seated row! so, I lifted to day...last 4A workout and I noticed that I am at 70 pounds for every lift except for woodchop (which is 75). totally weird!…
  • only one more stage 4 workout left! sorry I had an unplanned week off of lifting! I will be here shortly!
  • yes, there is. the way to get into position is to stand in front of your bench, take a large step forward and then put your non-working leg back on to the bench. If you are not in the right spot, bring your non-working leg down and take a little step forward or back.

  • I don't know the answer to your question, but if you do NROL, you could do it with your Hubby and that might be fun!!
  • I always combine the weights so that you have a measure across different moves. So, if I lift 2 10 pound dumbbels 15 times, I write 20/15 in the rectangle. But , really, anything will work as long as you are consistent. The log is for you to know where to pick up.
