Hi Verner I've recently rejoined MFP. I currently weigh 173 pounds and Im 5'6.5 . I saw somewhere on here that your supposed to eat back the calories you burn in a day....Is their truth to this? If that's true then how does one get to the caloric deficit? Also I have my calorie goal set for 1200 per day, is this good? I do…

Hey! I walk 4 days a week. Approx. 35/40 minutes each time. And yes I've lost weight! and inches. I've only been at this for close to 3 weeks. If you wanna know what really works it's tracking your calories and stay within your goal. Eating healthier choices as well. Welcome and best of luck to ya!

What is your calorie goal? Im 5'6 too, and currently weigh 173. I think I have my calorie goal set too low. I have 1200. It seems like I cant eat that much, even if it is healthy.

Thanks So much...I get it now!

Hi Fiona! Welcome! This is a tough journey but also a very rewarding journey. I'm some what new to this as well. I joined MFP a couple of years ago. Didn't use it at all then, but just recently rejoined a couple of weeks ago. I love it. I feel better than I ever have! I've been really diligent in recording everything I eat…

Can someone please explain to me what a calorie deficit is exactly, how it works exactly, and how to achieve it? Feel free to dumb it down! Lol Thanks
-
Oh and its definitley about balance! Good luck and Happy Saturday everyone.

I'm with you on this one. I too am in a 1200 calorie goal. I'm usually under a smidge, or sometimes bang on but as long as I'm close to or a little over, eating what I want in moderation has been working for me.

I totally agree with you old momma! People get so wrapped up in gimmicks and buying stuff that claim to make you thin and fit....but the truth is eating right, and drinking water and incorporating some kind of exercise is all we as humans need. Good luck to you though if you decide to do the challenge!

Hey, I'm from Edmonton!

Your absolutely right! I work out for maybe a little over 30 minutes 4 days a week. I realize the exercise is making me feel good, but the way Ive been eating is making me feel better. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Keep it up, we can all do it!

Good for you!!!!!!

Thank you, thank you thank you! Now if everyone could just dish one of these kind statements out, maybe I wouldn't have 2 extra pages of garbage on here! So again, thanks!

Yes indeed you are that guy, and yes indeed there are those girls too that just have nothing better to do then make people feel small. Hey, I'm sorry your life is so miserable that you have to make others feel crappy for an innocent posts they put up. I'm super sorry because you have nothing better to do with your time…
-
Thanks, you too!

Stick with the good people on this site! Go for it, log it, do whatever you want to! I cant believe how mean some people are to this girl who was just asking a question. What happened to the support?! Best of luck to you!
-
You couldn't have worded it any better than that! Good for you for this forum! Just yesterday I posted on here, and people were doing the same thing to me. Not all, but some. It makes it really discouraging, doesn't it?! I have recently rejoined MFP and I need support and encouragement, not the opposite. The way I see it,…

Hey Funchords....I like what you wrote, makes complete sense to me too! Keep at it, and I will do the same. As this isn't temporary, it's for the rest of our lives! Today is supposed to be my rest day, but I think a moderate bike ride is in order!

Thanks!

Haha, well now I know!!!! Mystery solved:smile:

Thanks, and yes Im aware of different scales....which is why I went back to my Moms and checked my weight on her scale....and my new scale matches hers!!!!! Woo woo!!!
-
And to clarify one more thing, as I was re reading these posts. I had some people ask me how I knew what my starting weight was if I "refused to step on a scale" About a month ago my doctor told me I weighed 179 lbs. I guess I based it on that. But now Im losing as you can see from my ticker, and I was actually pretty…

Hey everyone, First thanks to everyone that posted such nice things, words of encouragement. I think thats what this site is supposed to be about....Encouragement and Support. Not the opposite, in which I've experienced already. I agree with what someone else had posted on here ( sorry I forget your name) that I wasn't…

Oh, breads is a hard one for me too!!!! But did you know that sourdough bread has next to nothing in the sugar content in comparison to other breads? So I buy sourdough bread and have that once in awhile, remember we cant give up everything, small changes will develop into big victories!

Nicely said young lady! Nice indeed. Thanks!!

No problem! Be positive and stick with it....at least that's what I keep telling myself! :flowerforyou:
