The first few weeks will be the hardest, but if you tend to eat similar things often, MFP will learn those things so you can go to your favourites for recent and frequent meals instead of having to search every single time. It can also help to think of the recipes you cook often and pop them into your recipe box. That way…

I don't take any on a regular basis. I eat lots of fresh fruit and veg and get all my vitamins and minerals that way. If I get to the end of the day and my protein is looking low, I'll have a shake before bed. If I'm feeling abnormally tired or know I have a stressful day, I'll have some b vitamins. That's all.

I pay $110 per week which includes two sessions with a personal trainer. It's way more than I'd like to pay and I'm making a LOT of sacrifices elsewhere in my life, but I feel like it's worth it. Once I drop a couple more kgs I'll drop back to 1 session per week which will cost me $60/week... and hopefully eventually end…

I don't really binge on FOOD.... but I can have a night where I throw back a good bottle or two of wine which would be 1500+ calories or so. Then there's the inevitable greasy/carby breakfast the next day, but I can usually fit that into my allowance.

That's pretty much how I live my life.

Love the black and white makeup!
-
Exactly this :)

That's my net. I eat back pretty much all my exercise calories. Yesterday I ate over 1600 because I went for a jog and did some weights. My BMR is only ~1300 (TDEE ~1600 before exercise) so I don't really feel like this is too low for me. Thanks for the input though :)

You are either eating more than you think, burning less than you think, or need to see a doctor.
-
Brush your teeth and go to bed?
-
That's awesome! I would love to be able to jog for a full 30mins! At the moment I can do about 10mins then I have to stop a walk for a bit to get my breath back. Your pics look fantastic by the way.

I'm about 167cm and 26 years old. I started at 72kgs and lost my first 7kgs from diet alone. I was 65kgs when I decided to join a gym, which is how I've lost the other ~5kgs. ETA: At first my calorie goal was 1450, then 1350, then 1280, then 1200. I recalculated every few kgs.

You have done an amazing job! You must be so proud. Well done :)
-
I'm eating a bit less than you (today I netted ~1300 which was ~1600 less exercise) but I'd be happy to help where I can. I'm from Sydney too :)

This :)

I was going to reply, but this is already the perfect answer.

From the looks of your diary, you're eating a lot of calorie dense food (trail mix, peanut butter, bread, gnocchi) and a lot more carbs than protein. If you're underestimating the amounts you're logging on those calorie dense foods, you could be eating a lot more calories than you think you are. I don't know how much you…

I didn't say that anyone would want to. I was just saying that the wisdom of the OP ("you can't eat 3 x 500 calorie pasties a day and loose [sic] weight") is incorrect.
-
Mmm, nope. You can eat whatever you want and lose weight if you're taking in less calories than you're burning. You might not feel good. You might not look good. You wont really be 'fit' or 'healthy'. But you will lose weight. http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/how-to-lose-fat/ Scroll down to The Twinkie Diet.

Loved it. I'd much prefer to do weights than cardio.
-
I'd agree with this. I think it would also depend on the person. I'm shortish and starting to get slim, so my BMR is only in the 1300s. Me eating 1300 calories vs a taller and heavier person eating 1300 calories would be very different.
-
If it were me I'd go with TDEE less 20% which comes to 1840 calories, which is near to what your bootcomp PT said. You need to recalculate your TDEE when you've started to lose some weight because your needs will change. Exercise wise - are you going from sedentary to this? Cardio every day and weights 2-3 times a week…

Agree about it coming later...more that I started to notice it later, I'd say? I started to notice it when I got to my last 5kgs. The first pic below is only 3kgs heavier than the last pic but you can see a difference in my stomach. Exercise wise...I started doing weights. Before that it was pretty much all (unguided)…

The only thing I do at the gym (except for classes now and then) is lift. I have a personal trainer twice a week and he runs me through it. My cardio is swimming and running outdoors. I've lost 10.5kgs (1.5kgs to go!).

One of my knees has been playing up lately. I've been walking and swimming and they're both fine. I can run a bit but it depends on the terrain.
-
Well done!! :)

*waves* Sydney.

I'm vain. That's really what it comes down to. I want to look good in my clothes, I want to look good naked, I want to feel good about the way I look.... and I'm willing to forego that slice of cake, or that extra serving of dinner... or swap that glass of wine for a vodka soda, in order to look the way I want to.

Thank you! I highly recommend taking photos. Sometimes I get a bit down if the scale isn't moving much and I am putting in a LOT of effort. But then I look at the pics and I can see a difference :)
