  • Focus on eating well and maybe working with dumbells while seated. Pilates?
  • OK. Sometimes it's ok if it feels overwhelming...but it's not ok to quit. I manage "Project Moi" by having the same thing for breakfast most mornings, cooking all my weekday lunches and packaging them on Sunday, and having a fresh veggie omelet for dinner. Snacks are usually a few choices that can be rotated (sometimes…
  • I take some daily. Fiber Choice Tablets (resemble sweet tarts). Fiber really helps me to not feel as hungry, without the nasty side effects of other methods.
  • If you incorporate weight training, more of the weight loss will be fat, rather than also losing muscle. Also, muscle is metabolically active, so the more you have, the more calories you burn. But it's hard to give up the addiction to seeing the scale change. I'm working on the latter.
  • When you do something that other people are unwilling/unable to do sometimes makes them uncomfortable. I try to take it with a grain of salt and keep moving forward. Had same issue when I went back to school... suddenly there was a vacuum around me as a number of people, including family members, withdrew. So... it's not…
  • Cottage cheese with splenda and frozen strawberry slices. Makes me happy.
  • I include a fiber supplement in my diet every day. I find it really helps to avoid feeling ravenous.
  • Keep inching up on the incline and speed. I started doing 2 songs at the speed I was doing, and then pushing it up 2 tenths of a mph every third song. You can do the same with the incline.
  • Icy Hot. Ibuprofen, in moderation. Stretching afterwards periodically. Doing a different light activity to keep those muscles warm. Hydrate. Hot bath. Frozen bag of lima beans/peas for 5 minute intervals.
  • If you've had children, you may want to investigate an IUD. I was very interested, but my primary care phys. does not think it's a good idea for me because I've never given birth. Sigh.
  • If I were in your shoes, I'd look into some calorie dense foods I enjoy from a taste perspective. If you are recovering from stomach issues, you probably don't want anything too greasy, but try adding avocados, hummus, quinoa, garbanzos, cottage cheese to increase calories in a healthy way.
  • It is probably time to change up some of your foods. I get into those ruts, too. Try dry rubs for meats and experimenting with spices. :drinker:
  • This ^ I'm an apple with most of the weight so far coming off my back and legs. Pants are officially impossible. It's also much easier to make a skirt work while losing weight.
  • I have gotten a little light-headed after a workout. It may be that you are stopping too suddenly, rather than cooling off. Even if the machine stops, you may want to try re-starting for a few minutes while you bring your heart rate down. It may be that you workout too soon after a big meal, or got too dehydrated. If you…
  • Some of the pricier models do. Amazon is great for comparisons.
  • Grits... 500 calories for a generous serving of a SIDE ITEM!! Sneaky!
  • Maybe the rowing machine would work, as your knees would not be supporting your weight. The other thing that might me helpful is to focus on weight training to increase your metabolism. Also consider more swimming during the week. I hope you find something that works for you. :flowerforyou:
  • Veggie omelet with a really flavorful cheese sprinkled on top. I find the stronger the flavor of the cheese, the less I have to use to satisfy my palate. :-)
  • I would suggest against the liquid diet. You can get great results without tricking your body into doing it. Because it WILL get revenge. If you are supper low on energy, don't start with cardio. Start with weight training, just some hand weights. This will increase your metabolism, make you stronger physically, and can…
  • If you have access to a pool, you can try walking in the pool. It's easier on your ankles and knees, if they bother you. It's wonderful that you have started the journey. :drinker:
  • You don't mention working out, which you may find really helpful. I recently read an article that stated that one of the benefits of exercise is that it helps to re-balance our brain chemistry. The whole binge eating cycle thing may be a need for the rush of chemicals that our bodies release when we eat our "magic" foods.…
  • It's happened to me, too. I'm trying to make sure I get enough healthy fats and proteins. Also tweaking my hair routine to not make matters worse by over processing... but I'm not prepared to let my gray show, either! I also noticed that the hair loss really accelerated when I stopped taking my vitamins for about 3…
  • Part of the process is retraining your body to do without the chemical kick from all the sugar/simple carbs in the alcohol. It's great that you decided to make that change. Try to be methodical about how you are going to go about helping your body adjust to the regular flood of sugar. Maybe it would help to have fruit at…
  • To quote Sheldon Cooper, the social convention is to offer someone in distress a warm beverage. How about some nice tea? I don't like the smell of chamomile, but I've been drinking a vanilla-infused tea (Bigelow, nothing fancy) that doubles as aromatherapy for me. I also enjoy cardamom teas.
  • Coffee? Yes, please. I need my large mug in the morning, with artificial sweetener and powdered non-dairy creamer. But the rest of the day I drink tea with only the artificial sweetener. On days that are close calls (calorie wise) I'm not prepared to spare more calories on creamer. If I couldn't have my coffee.... Godzilla…

  • Jimmy Dean Delights Turkey Sausage and egg white muffins.
  • For me, if it's first thing in the morning, I prefer to workout on an empty stomach. I typically work out after work, and about 1.5 hours after my last snack. I worked out once within 1 hour of a full meal and almost tossed my cookies. Also, make sure you drink water while working out. :-)

  • Once I am on the treadmill, I take of my glasses, as I can see enough to see the MPH and heart rate info. Sometimes I walk with my eyes practically closed, just open enough to keep my balance and not get too far away from the front of the belt. I don't know you, but this may be the fight of your life and for your life.…
  • It was when I realized that the work I love has me sitting and reading for long hours, that humans tend to make many unconscious opinions about people based on visual cues, that I was using the weight as camouflage, that my camouflage was trying to kill me slowly, and that I love my life too much to choose to give it up…
