  • I love Jillian too! She is awesome. No More Trouble Zones is one of my favorites too. Another favorite is Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. You don't use weights in that one, but its a great full body cardio style work out. Six Week Six Pack is great too. There are two levels with that one and you use weights on a lot of the…
  • Thank you SO much! That is so nice of you! I really appreciate it! :)
  • I was born and raise in the south and love biscuits and sausage gravy. Its my family's favorite breakfast. I usually make it about once a month and its so good! Here's how I do mine. It's only 4 ingredients, plus salt & pepper. One roll of Jimmy dean sausage 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour 3 cups water (maybe more, I…
  • You can do it! That is a attainable goal for sure! Good for you for taking charge. I did the same thing before my 40th birthday. I lost about 15 lbs, reduced my BF% and feel awesome. I have been maintaining for 2 years now. I love to cook, eat (and drink), but tracking my calories is what really helped me. A food scale and…
  • lol! Yes, he does love his squats and lunges. I love the strength training aspect of Max30 too. I am sore in places I haven't been sore in a while, but not too bad where I feel like I can't do it again. Looking forward to another workout today! :)
  • If workout DVD's are what you enjoy doing, have you ever tried any of Jillian Micheal's workouts? I love her workouts. The 30 day shred is a great beginner (and non-beginner) workout. She also has a modifier that is lower impact which is great while you are trying to build your endurance and strength. You can view it for…
  • Received Insanity Max30 in the mail on Saturday and got started right away. I love it! I did the Cardio Challenge on Saturday and was dripping sweat by the end of it. Then did Power Tabata and the 10 min Power abs yesterday. Man that was a good workout! This is what I was really looking for to switch up my workouts.…
  • Totally agree with this. I exercise for many reasons, and one of them is to be able to eat more. Whether it is a cookie, mexican food, beer, chicken wings, or just food in general. I like to eat, so I like to exercise too.
  • You have had a lot of great suggestions. One thing that helped me too was purchasing a heart rate monitor, especially if you are following CICO. While a HRM is not totally accurate, its still a great tool when you are tracking calories you eat and calories you burn while exercising. Being over 40 now, I really had to up my…
  • Yum! Love biscuits and gravy. That is one of my favorite things to have for breakfast. I like my homemade version though...some of the gravy at restaurants taste like powdered gravy.
  • I had this for breakfast this morning and it totaled about 210 calories. That was with 2 poached egg whites (6 tablespoons of All Whites) and 2 oz of smoked sausage. It works good for me and keeps me full until lunch. I am one of those that likes to save up my calories for dinner and maybe a glass of wine/beer, so its nice…
  • This is my favorite go-to breakfast, probably have it 5 days out of the week. 2 poached eggs / or egg whites 2 tablespoons ghost pepper salsa 30 grams avocado 2 slices of bacon / or 2 oz of smoked sausage coffee I make enough bacon or sausage for about 3 days, so all I have to do is heat it up in the microwave.
  • Those look so good! If you like it hot, try some sriracha hot sauce! yum...got to have these soon!
  • Thanks everyone for the feedback! I am glad you all like the workout. I liked that it is a 30 minute workout too. I enjoy mixing cardio with some weight lifting, so an intense 30/40 minute workout and about 15/20 minutes of free weights is always what has worked best for me. @jeremywm1977 - I love your description of being…
  • 41 here! Love seeing so many other 40 somethings! :)
  • I love the workout and rotate it with some of her other DVD's. I agree with the others, that alone is not going to get you a 6 pack in 6 weeks, however it is a great workout. I would get bored too if that was the only workout I did for 6 weeks. Some of my other favorites of hers are Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and No More…
  • I went through this last year and went through all types of testing. (nerve conduction study, mri, blood tests) Everything came back normal. My hand and arm would be tingle all day and fall asleep a lot at night. They finally diagnosed it as some type of nerve damage and said to not do much of anything that involved my arm…
  • Thank you guys for the suggestions! Looking forward to checking them out today. I would love to have a playlist instead of just random songs. I don't like going from a fast song, to a slow song during my workouts. :) @scasey250 - Thank you for the compliment! You look awesome too! :)
  • 41 yr old, Mom of two here! Feel free to add me too! I would love some more friends in the 40's and 50's! :)
  • That does seem a bit high based on your pic and stats. Does your trainer have any calipers? I know those can be inaccurate, as well. But if you use it as a guide it can be helpful. I called around a few gyms in our area and had mine tested by a personal trainer about a year ago. It seemed to be fairly accurate based on…
  • When I use our treadmill I watch Food TV Network. I love that channel. I like to burn calories while I get ideas on what to cook for dinner.
  • You can get visible abs by doing workout DVD's and tracking your calories. So if that is what you enjoy, then go for it! Jillian's DVD's are what helped me lose 10/15 lbs and my abs are pretty visible. I also have added lifting into my routine and enjoy it a lot. When you start seeing more results, you will love it even…
  • Hang in there! I agree with an above poster that said to get out and get walking. My jogging stroller was the best thing I had after having my kids. When I had two I had a double jogger and it really helped to lose those 10/15 lbs after giving birth. My c-sections were 11 & 8 years ago. I still have some numbness, but…
  • I had 2 c-sections 8 & 11 years ago. Doesn't seem that long ago! lol! Welcome to MFP! You can do it!
  • ok, thank you! That is what I thought. I think DH would like that better.
  • Following this thread, as I was looking to get a tracker for DH for Father's Day. How does the Fitbit HR track your heart rate? Do you have to wear a chest strap? I would think DH wouldn't mind wearing one while jogging, but curious how it would accurately track throughout the day.
  • Awesome job!! Way to go! you look amazing!!
  • Thank you guys for the encouragement! I work out at home, so I do a variety of Jillian Michael's DVD 5/6 times a week. I have my favorites that I rotate depending on how much time I have that day. I also have a set of weights ranging from 5 to 25 pounds where I do deadlifts, over-head presses, etc. I would love to one day…
  • I think a long time ago they used to do vertical c-sections. The majority of c-sections now are horizontal.
  • I have had two c-sections. I was in good shape before pregnancy and also did not gain more than the recommended amount of weight each time. I lost weight pretty quickly after pregnancy, so my body was able to recover from the surgery pretty quick too. @peachyplum - I would just keep doing what your doing. Any extra core…
