Every body is different. On a BBC research program they discussed "low responders". That is definitely me!! I can relate to this research. Exercise does NOTHING to help my weight loss. Here is a link to the BBC series that tried out varied weight loss programs and reported his results.…

I agree that the calorie counts are iffy no matter where they come from. I am also 5 ft. and 65 yrs old. I dropped to 900 calories at one point and had minimal success except that I was very successful at becoming light in the head and had difficulty concentrating. There was a BBC series about weight loss and there are…

Looks like you have lots of good company. I am now 5' and I think I used to be 5'1" so I completely understand the frustration with low calorie needs at our height. I am 63 now and of course... a body growing older creates moments of despair. So every time I think a negative thought about my body I turn it around and give…

Everyone is different... and it is so darn frustrating!! Although it is good that you have this forum to ask the question about hypothyroidism... individuals will have experiences different from your own. The exercise issue is important. But... if I watch calories and try to burn them via exercise... I do NOT lost weight.…

I am not sure which program on PBS addressed the issue of "low responders" regarding weight loss. I think if you searched Michael Mosley | PBS you might find some good programs and videos. He also did a segment of 5-2 fasting plan... I have never even considered doing that but some people do. Seemed too extreme for me. It…

I didn't bother with the RV idea... I just moved and rented places. It appears my house in Silver City is in the process of selling this month... I love Silver City and have lots of friends there... so if I am so inclined I will return and rent a little cabin or something. My parents did the exploring with an RV and that…

Good morning everyone. Good luck, Wooken, with meeting your goals. You are a star here and always have been since I joined over a year ago. I just weighed a couple of days ago and was down another lb but I never count them unless it stays off for several weeks. And, I tend not to weigh myself very often. Wishing you all…

This is great advise. Up the water intake and expend more energy-calories cooking healthy food. The issue of water is especially important as you cleanse your body of the cigarette poisons.

I wouldn't use e-cigs. You are just extending your addiction. If you must... maybe chew gum when you want a cig till the nicotine craving subsides??? I was a smoker... and I am 62 now. This weight thing seems to be age-stage of life thing and I bet most of us in this age range will agree. And... your body has to adjust to…

Happy for you!! I am another short woman and I so understand what you are saying. 5 lbs on us is like 10 on anyone else, I think! It seems like I have a loss... then stop... then start losing again. Guess it is a life time commitment. Happy for you and keep up the good work.

I am 62 and I thought this was an "age" issue. Guess it happens to us all, especially when we get to the final 10 lbs... I read in Dr As book that maintaining your blood sugar and insulin response can be achieved by eating 5 small meals and a lean and green at night... keeping carbs at around 100 a day. That is the program…

OMG... you really need to ignore the negative posters... talk about bringing ya down!! Who needs that kind of negativity . yuk.

Very interesting and it goes along with what I have been reading from other metabolism specialists. Thanks for sharing. Have you seen the specials on PBS... I think if you "search" PBS diet and exercise you will get the program name and link... can't remember the guys name but he finds researchers in the area of diet and…

WOW!! I love where you live. I went there one summer. Beautiful. Would love to go back... in the summer.

I totally agree with Road Dog but if you want to really challenge yourself and risk not getting out till spring... North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan will guarantee their snow. Timberline is one of the most beautiful and historic structures I have ever been to so really, go with Road Dog's advise.

I completely relate to what you are saying. As others have said... You either do it honestly or don't. I am saying that to myself as much as I am you. And in your case... you have a profession ahead of you in which you need to set a healthy example. So it is like NIKE... just do it. Most of us with weight issues don't eat…

Great plan. I like your writing. And one more thing... which I was reminded of last weekeknd... you don't have to eat the whole thing. Sometimes just a couple of bites does the job. Good luck and have a ton of fun!!!

Looks pretty!! But glad you are getting sunscreen :-)
-
You are beautiful!! Thank you for your courage and saying "out loud" what so many of us have shared over the years.

Ditto that. LOL

WOW. You are doing great! I really like protein for breakfast. If I get tired of eggs I might eat cottage cheese.

my daughter was diagnosed at about the age of 16. She is on this site, "andeeluna". I don't think her meds have caused weight gain but she loves to cook .... :-)

thanks!!

squats!! I know I say that because of my knees!!! ok, I am going to research this... safe squats for older folks!! Thanks for posting that... I really didn't know this!!

I am 5.0 ft tall. Used to be 5' 1". I have 125 listed as my goal but will be happy with 135. I lost a lot of weight last year but in the process lost muscle. Now I weight more but I am much more fit and muscular ... The difference in muscular weight and fat weight is quite a surprise. I am down 4 lbs but have gained over 2…

Looks like a lot of good comments... one being a doc appt if things don't improve. I would like to add... slow down... Gulping water, not chewing adequately, chewing gum will add air to your digestive and make you feel like you are hungry but you are just stressing your digestive process.

redredfox... GREAT advise!! Just get over it and move on!!! As far as small towns and AA, it is always a surprise who you run into... and that is one of the issues AA treats... "worrying about what other people will say."
