  • when i switched to the cradle bar it helped my form and i have been able to increase my weight and can now deadlift 140-160lbs (43 year old 170lb female). Form is critical your back should not hurt if lifting correctly - have a trainer watch you lift and tell you whats going on...
  • Happy to report i had an awesome fit test today and beat my scores from 6 weeks ago by a lot. Not bad since i was worried that i would tank since i'm nursing a few minor injuries. Happy to see concrete proof that the gym hours are worth it even if i have not lost any weight...
  • i would like to join in on the over 40 club! I too am loving my 40s for the most part. Had bariatric surgery at 41 and 2 1/2 years later in the best shape of my life. Do MSVB thrive class 5 or six mornings a week and try to stay at 1500 calories. I'm 5'9" float around 172-174 lbs and have for some time have a goodly amount…
  • i was in denial too. When i look back at pictures now i almost cant recognize them as me. I have lost around 170 pounds and although my bra size is smaller 34 from 54 i am still a DD so still "chesty" and since the rest of my body is smaller its maybe even more "noticeable" if you will. However even if it was not it would…
  • try syntha 6 chocolate peanut butter protien powder tastes yummy...
  • i think i need to find out my body fat percent too i think that would help me figure out if i still have fat left to lose or it is mostly skin...
  • yes one of my greatest regrets on this whole journey is that i didnt do any measuring. I do occasionally go to a support group meeting that has one of those fancy scales that tell you fat/water etc and I have keep track of that but havn't been in a few months.
  • I guess it comes down to I wondering how you figure out if you are in starvation mode versis you have found a healthy weight your body wants to just maintain...
  • I don't know if we are truly comparable, but I am 5'9 and my goal weight is 165. I would be perfectly happy at 170. Anything lower than 165 is not sustainable for me. However, I have seen people who are 5'9 that seem to sustain much lower weights, like 140, 130. I look sick at 150, sothank you that is helpful... thank you…
  • My workout has a ton of heavy lifting it is covers everything cardio, strength power, flexability etc. for over a hour a day. Since I had the Bariatric sleeve which greatly decreased the size of my stomach but doesnt impact absorbtion i have more fexability in what i eat.I The bariatric diet which I followed religiously…
  • Generally speaking that is what i do so that answers my question. Well than in my opinion you can both lose fat and gain muscle on a calorie deficit because all of 2011 and 2012 i ate around 800-1000 calories a day and worked out 6-7 times a week. I have lost 170 lbs and have gained alot of muscle. I have between 15 and 20…
  • thanks for the answer while i do some different and some the same exercises in my thrive class 5 days a week i do them at least that heavy or more in most cases so i guess what i do is "heavy" lifting just never thought of it that way. I also do a lot of core work, planking, rope climping, pull ups and push around sleds…
  • Generally speaking pregnancy stretches your skin and muscles out in such a way that they dont quite ever look the same even with alot of work. It also changers your body chemistry, metabolism and how you store fat. A lot of women struggle around the midsection afterward. Keep at it though you can improve it. I find core…
  • just out of curiosity how do you define "heavy lifting" for a female and what level of calorie deficit. I have lost a lot of weight and built some decent muscles for a 43 year old woman over the last 2 years so i know you can do both at the same time to at least a modest degree of success...
  • rolling out on foam rollers saves my butt (or legs lol) I do a 20 minute rolling stretching routine before my daily workouts and i am rarely sore...
  • Im sorry for your losses and challenges. One suggestion I have is to think about switching to protein bars or shakes for some of your meals. I eat them as one or two of my meals daily and they are healthy , yummy and portable. Be careful though they are not all created equal. If you want suggestions i can help and Im sure…
  • hi i am a bariatric patient (gastric sleeve) done in jan 2011. I started at 336 and now weigh 172. I am trying to lose my last 12 or 22 since im unsure of how low I can go without skin surgery. I am always looking to support/be supported. feel free to friend me...

  • Ive lost 170 lbs went from a 54dd to a 34dd. They look fine in a bra but are saggy sacks with out. I need major plastic surgery but no casholla so :(
  • It assigns you 1200 a day if you change the amount of weight loss you want from the recommended 1 lbs to 2 lbs.
  • hi, I don't normally comment on other peoples food choices since everyday is a battle for me. I have had successful weight loss (170lbs) and joined my fitness pal like 2 weeks ago. However since you are asking for help my suggestions are -dont drink your calories like the apple juice drink. I drink only water, smart water…
  • i am a big time food addict who made the plunge two years ago and had bariatric surgery. I have lost 170lbs. I follow a pretty strict diet and work out every day except sunday. One thing that helps me is to learn how alot of ordinary healthy people eat. They make a distinction between ordinary days and special days. I…
