Yeah, that's the one I was looking at. I'm a geek and love gadgets  I guess I could get it AND calipers

That is great. Do a few more of those 25 minute walks - no need to push it. Then step it up five more minutes - or increase the speed a bit. Just a bit at a time and before you know it you will be amazed at the rate of improvement. Then, pick an item at a time to improve - work on the calorie levels. Then, drink water -…

Think of it as a bucket that you want to keep at a certain level. Eating puts calories in the bucket and exercise takes the calories out. Your goal is to keep the bucket at your designated level by eating and exercising.

That’s cool - I too am at a point that I find it hard to hit higher heart rates and my resting heart rate is now in the 50's! Last night I rode my recumbent bike for an hour at an average of 114 bpm with RPM at about 70. For the last 60 seconds or so I pushed RPM's up to 140+ and couldn't get my heart rate up past 150. And…
-
Thanks - how/why did you decide that you wanted to hit .5 grams of protein per pound of body weight?
-
Yeah, my dr recommended Centrum and a calcium supplement. Still curious about the various types of diets I see people reference on MFP and how/why the choose the targets they do.
-
Thanks - do you set and follow your nutrient targets in MFP? If so, do you just use what MFP says or do you set your own? If you set your own, what process do you follow to determine what they should be?

I just ate a stalk of celery :)

That's what my wife says too, but she still makes it for me :)

Yeah I have been cutting that out too. I read an article that said it is basically a "toxin" that the liver has to clean from your body, and while it is busy doing that, it isn't working on burning fat. The jello is now about all I have with the artificial sweeteners.

Murfreesboro here.

One difference between the FT4 and FT7 is that the FT7 can be used with a dock to load data directly to the polarpersonaltrainer.com web site. Very useful for me.

Moo Goo Gai Pan is great regarding calories but way bad on sodium. Most all chinese is bad on sodium though.

I have steamed chicken and shrimp with veggies with brown sauce. You can do that for less than 400 calories. The garlic sauce is LOADED with calories.

Yeah, I record it as aerobics and record the calories from my F7 HRM and adjust for BMR calories. But does anyone know if it fits into the formal definition of "Interval training" or HITT?
-
Thanks - that's what I love about this site. Always a learning process. I have heard all of these terms but never had the background to put them to use. Ok - now reading about HIIT....
-
You mean you were hit on but didn't know it?
-
Ok - so essentially it's a "pay me now or pay me later" sort of thing? If you burn calories from glucose now then it will cause your body to burn from fat later? Also - my thinking was that if I exercise at 65% I am able to exercise for a longer period of time. For example - just now I exercised for 30 minutes at about…

So I am better to hit the lower end of the fat-burn scale at 60%? Does that still push my cardiovascular system enough to improve fitness?
-
Of course it is all based on your max heart rate which is 220 - your age. At 47, 120 is best for this purpose. Over 130, I am pushed into the anerobic zone.
-
That is my take away - a slower pace allows your muscles to maintain an energy flow that supports burning fat. A higher pace requires your body into an anaerobic state which is not burning fat. And, going slower for longer is better than faster for shorter.

Do sleeze posts burn more calories than non-sleeze posts?
-
Thanks - in the end I found myself stating exactly what all the advice says  But now, I understand more about the reasoning behind it which will help my motivation.

I agree that the fat and cholesterol in eggs is not my concern - I'm looking for foods that have low calorie content to help me with my fitness goals. Egg Beaters has nearly half the calories as eggs. But I do agree that it's better to make our own - cut out the middleman doing all that processing and we get to control our…
-
Ahh. So Egg Beaters is really just the whites with flavoing added? If so - then the only question is the cost of time and effort to essentially make your own? These days - my wife and are all about cutting out processed foods and doing it oursevles. Seems this is one more opportunity.

My goal is to continue to lose weight, continue to exercise and improve my nutrition. For me, it's a change in my way of life that doesn't end, so I don't set any dates. I do have a goal weight - and when I reach that I will adjust my calorie targets to maintain that weight.
-
I love this - I started from such a base of ignorance and i just keep learning and improving. Here - in one simple list - shows me all of the areas I need to work on and a real life demonstration of why. Thank you!
-
I like that idea! I will do that. I am on the last hole now  Thank you!
-
Hey - I like that idea! Thank you everyone - you are part of my success too.

I think I'm doing quite well - I just wonder if anyone has actually been able to hit the perfect targe with food alone. Sounds like the concensus is nobody has. Makes sense not being able to on less than 2000 calories. Currentl, I need to lower sugar and increase iron and calcium.
