The beauty of pickling is that you can pickle so many different vegetables. Beans, carrots, beets, asparagus... the list goes on. Green beans are my favourite, and I make my own.

I didn't battle with my weight until I moved away from home. I replaced country living and garden eating with a fast food lifestyle. Instead of driving an hour to get a bag of chips, I could just walk across the street whenever I felt like it. All me. 100%.

And can you imagine how fast a farmer would be facing a law suit if, god forbid, someone who shouldn't be on their farm gets hurt? People shouldn't just be randomly wandering around the big equipment and big animals. That's asking for an accident to happen.

My quick and lazy method is to drizzle on a little vinegrette dressing and pop it into the microwave to cook until tender crisp. I've tossed it into soups, stir frys, on the grill, and all sorts of ways. In bite sized pieces, it even makes a great pizza topping.

So far, food wise, our Jamaica experience has been the best for all-inclusive eatings. And yes, there was curried goat. :) Jerk chicken served down by the beach had to be the best experience, though.

Oh yes... the coffee in Cuba was so good! Definitely one of my best memories of vacationing there. I think Canadian McDonald's has a different blend than the US, too. I swear the coffee I get across the border in WA isn't as good.

From my house, I can easily walk to six Starbuck's and three Timmy's. But for just plain old black coffee, I like McDonald's coffee.

You're supposed to put steak sauce on eggs, not ketchup! No ketchup on Kraft dinner. No ketchup on grilled cheese either (but pickles and mayo, hell yes). Could someone please pass the ketchup chips and poutine?

I cut out the cream and just drink it with a dash of Splenda. It didn't take long to get used to not having any cream or milk in it, and it was a few extra calories that were easy to permanently eliminate from my diet.

This one happened a couple of years ago (my weight was almost at it's worst) when my husband and I were out at the park walking our dog. He's got a very heavy double coat, so he looks as round as he is high, but there's a lot of very well-fed dog under there, too. Another man was out with his dog and we were making the…

I used to be a very picky eater, and seeing my father get worse about food limitations over the years to the point it makes my mother miserable cooking for him, I decided to change my own outlook on food and have a more open mind. It was baby steps, but I slowly worked on adding foods and trying new things. And now I'm…

The pink slime thing has never bothered me. I feel we should be using as much of an animal as possible from both an ethical and environmental standpoint. How else would a place like McDonalds be able to sell cheap food to the masses, a lot of whom are at or below the poverty line. And can you imagine how many cows would…

steamed edamame (soybeans) - Meh, I'll pass, not a fan of soy anything virgin coconut oil - too expensive, maybe one day when I've run out of the other oils in my cupboard commercial peanut butters - as long as the ingredients are just peanuts and salt lactose free chocolate milk sweetened with sucralose - Would drink it,…

I've had to cinch my favourite bra up as tight as it will go in every direction, and I'm very happy with losing all of that extra boob size. I feel so much better about myself with a smaller chest. It matches my smaller body.

I agree that the tins of store-bought Christmas cookies aren't worth the calories they're made of. Makes it very easy to avoid the temptation if they just have no appeal. Now if they're homemade shortbread... that's a little tougher. Just have one. Or maybe two. But certainly no more than three! lol

I'll be trying to survive the chaos of the Bellingham Costco tomorrow. lol No one knows how to drive their shopping carts. :explode:

I live 20 minutes from the border, so I do a lot of my grocery shopping in Washington state. Dairy, meats, and eggs are all substantially cheaper. Add a tank of gas plus some extra fuel cans, and you've saved a heck of a lot of money for a trip that only takes about three hours. Then add in online purchases shipped to a…

Every now and then I get a 5-pack sample from Keurig.com just to try things before I buy. Works great for keeping just a few decaf around, too.

I was on Effexor several years ago, and it was awful. You really couldn't miss a dose without serious side effects hitting quite quickly. And as depressed as I was, I wasn't suffering from suicidal ideation until I was on it. In the end, I made the decision that my mental health was my own to control, and I had to get off…

We have a Sodastream and a bottle of diet syrup in almost every flavour that they make.

I love it best with just a little salt and pepper.

And here I was having a hankering for Starbucks, too! I just wore the wrong shoes to work to go for a walk for a couple of blocks to get one. lol I'll have a tall no-fat cappuccino with a shot of SF vanilla, please and thank you.

One cup of coffee doesn't have enough diuretic properties to do anything. It's vastly overwhelmed by the amount of water you just drank in that coffee. It's a very personal choice, but I count everything but alcohol towards my total daily FLUID intake.

This! lol What part of Canada is this happening in? I can bring my own fork!

I actually really enjoy family-style eating when we go for Chinese, sushi, Greek, etc. I can try a little of a few things instead of just a lot of one thing. But I get really possessive about my pizza, especially when it's one of my favourite varieties. I don't want your mushrooms/onions/peppers, so you leave mine the hell…

I did a huge closet purge a few weeks ago as I was putting my summer stuff away. I sorted my jeans into three piles: can wear now, can wear in a few pounds, will get back into eventually (tucked that pile away to try again in a few months). I also bagged up a whole bunch of old smaller clothes that are an old style or a…

If you're limiting your butter and sugar, then I guess you really don't want my infamous Yummy Yam Casserole. lol

What are you eating at Extreme Pita? I've heard that some of their items, such as the pizzas, are listed per serving on the nutrition charts, but they don't tell you that each pizza is more than one serving.

I did the spontaneous "while we're there let's get married" thing as well, and don't regret it one bit. But I only had two weeks to prepare. I just bought a simple white dress that looked good on me as I was, enjoyed our vacation, and treasured my wedding. You could always plan to have new professional photos done for your…

I don't go too often, but a $5 footlong gets me two meals, which is absolutely the best value in the area if I have to buy a lunch. Plus it's a full half hour of walking there and back from the office. I should probably go more often, actually.
