Try some protein snacks. They fill you up more than carb snacks. My favorite lately is turkey bacon. Pop a few slices in the microwave and cook it until it's super crispy. It almost reminds me of eating chips. It has the saltiness and the right texture with protein and very little fat. And each slice is only about 25…

Good article but the worst sugar is sucrose, not fructose. Sucrose is the bad refined sugar that's bad for you. Sucrose is a disaccharide (chem. - C12H22O11). It's a combination of fructose and glucose combined with a glicosidic joint. Fructose is also a sugar but occurs naturally in fruits an honey (chem. - C6H12O6). It's…

Your weight will fluctuate up to 1 kg depending on your hormonal cycle, water intake, etc. (I'm assuming you are a woman), so don't worry.
-
Yeap, and it always starts with the first pound. BEST OF LUCK!!!! You CAN do it. Think of it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet.

Nope.

It's a tricky situation. I've been there twice: 1. My coworker asked what I was doing because she also wanted to lose weight. I suggested mfp but she didn't really follow any of my advice. Then, continued to ask and complain about her lack of results and I absolutely didn't know what to say (I wanted to say "I told you and…

OMG - this is soooo true! LOL and this was the "latest technology" :D - geeks rule! :)

your students have no idea what you're talking about when you mention the DiCaprio + Danes version of Romeo and Juliet you thought Atari was the greatest invention of all times! :)

That sounds delicious! What a good idea.

Exactly! that's an "edit" I wanted to add. If you have severe diabetes and your doctor told you to limit your sugar intake, then look at the sugars in general - that's why many diabetic can't eat many fruits, pastas, etc. (my mom is one). Then, you also need to learn about the glycemic index of all sugars, etc. But for…

Absolutely ok. You CAN'T avoid natural sugars. You would have to avoid dairy, grains, fruits, etc. They are good for you. What you want to avoid is added sugar - again, check the ingredient list. Avoid sugar and high fructose corn syrup on the ingredient list - that's what matters. If MFP doesn't separate those two, just…

I thought I'd share a simple example: SKIM MILK will have 12g of sugar listed on the nutritional label. That doesn't mean there was any sugar added to that milk. Milk has a natural sugar called "lactose", that's where the 12g come from. It's still a healthy choice because it's a natural occurring sugar, and not added…

Be careful reading labels. Sugar is a natural part of some of the grains and fruits in cereal. Don't just read the nutritional info. Always read the ingredients. If you see sugar in ingredients, that means sugar was added to it. If you don't, it means that the cereal has natural sugars in it - those are not that bad. If…

Do you like Mexican flavors? Boil the pork chops in water until they are fully cooked (about 4 chops). In a separate pan, boil about 3-4 tomatillos (green tomatoes), 1-2 jalapenos, and about 2-3 diced potatoes. When the skin of the tomatillos starts to crack (or they have cooked for about 10-15 minutes), take them out of…

PLEASE don't do this to yourself. I know how hard it is because I used to do it too. Don't weigh yourself every day - it's will drive you crazy, it will disappoint you, and it will frustrate you more than it's worth. It's not possible for you to gain 7 lbs in one day - you would have to have eater over 21000 calories. It…

Back in the day... I was always the tallest in class. I am 5'7". My legs are even longer - not even proportionate with my body - my car seat is always moved all the way back and I hate traveling via bus or plane because my legs don't have enough room. But I hated running and wasn't good at it - I was always outrun by my…

You are wayyyy to harsh on yourself. You look amazing! So what you won't be lean - you will be HEALTHY looking!!!! Just as someone said before here about Kim Kardashian. Think about it: Jennifer Lopez was just named the sexiest woman - look at her body shape. Let me tell you - lean and thin is OUT!!! Healthy curves are…

And to answer your question: try non-fat vanilla Activia yogurt if you can't have greek - I find it tasty.
-
If you're on Dukan you can only have plain or vanilla yogurt non-fat. Check ingredients for added sugar - if you see sugar in ingredients, stay away from it. Any fruit yogurt is a no-go on Dukan - especially in the first phase.

I'm sorry but do you truly think that it's an "ok weight"? You're 3 pounds from being underweight when it comes to BMI. I realize that it's not the perfect index but you really don't need to lose any weight - you're in the low end of healthy weight for your height.

Most larger restaurants will have an online menu with nutritional information. That's my safe bet before I go out to eat. Just check out what you could order before you even get to the restaurant. Also, be careful with the salads, I once went out, had a salad, just to come home and find out that the salad was 1000 calorie…

Try garbanzo beans in salads to as hummus. Very tasty.

Whey protein powder for shakes comes in tons of great flavors - I LOVE chocolate, coffee, cappuccino, chocolate coconut - YUM!!! I have it every day for breakfast lately - can't get enough :) It was recommended by a nutritionist, too.

If you measure in stones, you probably live in the UK. You MUST have heard about the Dukan diet - search the internet and decide whether it's something that might interest you.
-
Not sure if it's true but this is what I heard: the cravings are from your body producing hormones that dis-regulate your insulin production. You crave sweets to balance this. Supposedly complex carbs will even out the insulin levels and make your cravings go away - they take longer to be digested and consume the insulin…

I agree, I have just switched to a low carb myself. It's disappointing to see everyone around you lose weight and not to see any changes on your scale! And I have an upcoming wedding, too - my sister's - and I'm the maid of honor. Keep in touch with your doctor, do your blood work regularly and as long as you're healthy,…

One more thing that came to my mind: there is a difference between a German quark and a Polish quark. The German is much much smoother than the Polish. So, if you have the smooth one, just use it for the recipe. If yours is not too smooth - creates small curds when you break it down with a fork, then you need to process…

There are many different recipes for cheesecake. here's one you could try (I'm not good at baking cheesecake - it always collapses when I make it. Mom mom, grandma, or sister can use the same recipe and it will turn out great). This recipe is for a high protein, low carb diet and you need to know that I never tried making…

OMG! What can't you do with it! I'm Polish/German and grew up with quark. 1. Slice it up and eat in on bread. 2. Make pierogies (the original kind) with potatoes and quark, 3. Make a salad: shred quark with a fork, add chopped radishes and spring onions, a little sour cream, salt and pepper and have it on bread. Love…
