My latest weird discovery is that I can feel my finger bones through the pads of my fingers, thumb bones in particular. A family member got a giggle out of that when I commented on it. She's always been able to feel hers. Who knew!

I've been there. Pretty sure most of us have had days like that. :) Perhaps try planning in snacks or a desert into your day ahead of time? That helped me when I started. I often logged in the next day's snacks the night before because I knew I'd want them. Then I just ate other meals with those items already factored in.…

I suggest asking your doctor about this. Or, your physical therapist if you have one. I'm sure they would have some ideas about safe movements you could do. That said... it sounds like you might be able to do some things with your arms and possibly abdomen. Arm lifts and curls, pressing your palms against each other, and…

It's from water retention. At night you are retaining a bit of water from having eaten relatively recently. In the morning you haven't eaten recently, and your body isn't retaining as much fluid. You wouldn't see as much of a difference if you weighed after breakfast instead of before. I see the same thing when I happen to…

Good points. I do need to log better. Measuring out ketchup, dips and butter has always felt like a bit, I don't know, silly I suppose, and more work rinsing out measuring spoons then I was interested in for sure (not to mention called attention to the weight loss attempt, and when I started I didn't tell my family).…

Thanks, that's something I can try. I hadn't thought of salt intake as a cause. Also hadn't thought my salt intake was very high, since I only use a dash here or there. I imagine it is high on things like breaded chicken though. ll try to read up on the impact of salt on weight loss. I thought it would just impact water…

My diary is open, and I have over 100 to loose, but I still eat pizza, breaded chicken, pasta, and other things along those lines. If you want an example of someone loosing while making small changes over time (allergies and picky eating - jumping right into a major diet overhaul was not for me, I make changes gradually)…

I agree with the person above who said not to label food as good or bad. I extend that to not thinking of my overall day as having been healthy or not, and my weight loss for a week as good or not. In my opinion that way of thinking is self defeating, because every time you eat something 'bad' or have a week where you…

I think you need to go back to your therapist and let him or her know how you are feeling. If you are existing in this kind of negative state, and are prone to obsessiveness and anxiety when working to improve your health, then you need more help then forum strangers can really give you. You may want to consider seeking…

Yes, water retention will cause bloating and the appearance of weight gain/puffyness. It'll go away. Text is a poor medium for conveying tone sometimes, so please read the following keeping in mind that I am trying to say this nicely, and am concerned for you. Please consult your doctor. Get a referral to someone who you…

4 Hour Body? I read the book, but decided slow carb wasn't for me. I did find some of the tips in the book interesting, such as the ice baths (not that I could bring myself to do it). For anyone thinking about trying this, the book is a good read, but be prepared that Tim Ferris' writing style leaves something to be…

I have had similar moments. I don't feel shorter, but I do keep noticing the loss. I compare it to getting taller as a kid. One day you realize you can see the top of the counter, or the fridge, can reach an item on a particular shelf, see the top of someone's head, etc... The weight loss equivalent for me is noticing…

When you have your first lesson you'll most likely be doing a lot of standing in the shallow end, blowing bubbles, and doing things like holding on to the side, a kickboard, or your teacher learning about breathing, floating and to kick. That's an excellent time to ask questions like this, along with telling your teacher…

If you are a phone rep, and thus stuck at your desk that whole time, you could do flexes. Pelvic floor (kegal), butt, back/shoulder, stomach, and thighs all come to mind as something you can flex subtly without the floor manager noticing. You could probably also get away with some slight leg lifts and work the backs of…

I went with the Polar FT7 because it will work in the water (for laps and other surface swimming - it's water resistant to 30m, not water proof). It has the soft strap included but is compatible with the stiffer coded strap (which some people prefer using for fit and accuracy - my soft one has worked fine for me). I…

I think part of the problem is you are panicking. You've had some good suggestions in this thread, you know you have options. So, take a deep breath. Write down some of the suggestions you are going to try. Imagine what a day using those solutions would look like, and let yourself feel positive about how well that could…

I'm down 25lb and am nearly a size smaller. Pants are looser and I can fit into an old top I tried on the other night that use to cling more then it does now.

I second the recommendation for square foot gardening. It's an easy method usable both in your garden beds and in containers. The method's inventor has a very easy to follow book you can buy, but there is also a lot of free information available on the web about square foot gardening. Your local garden centre is a great…

It's interesting, but poorly executed in my opinion. Of course a more complex product with more parts to break up will take longer, whether or not one scares you with mention of a gas related chemical being part of the make-up of the product. She oversimplifies the issues. It looks like the goal was to shock people, so at…

It sounds like you are making two separate, if similar, meals. Instead perhaps make the "healthy" version and leave her the option of adding to it if she wants to (cheese, sauces, salt, etc). I agree with the other replies that she is responsible for her self and her own choices. If she doesn't like the meals you make or…

You probably already have paint on your computer, and it's pretty easy to use. Assuming both images are the same size and just need to be placed beside each other all you need to do is open two copies of paint, one image in each that you want to use (one for your before, one for the after), and then copy your second image…

I work from home as a rep and I know just what you mean about that tether, lol. During my shifts I try to get in a little lifting (arms and legs) and flexing (butt, abs, etc). It's pretty easy to do a little lifting with the bottle of water you probably have at your desk anyway, but your boss might raise an eyebrow at…

I make soup in my rice cooker. I eyeball the amounts, but it looks something like this: 1 scoop rice (for a scoop I use the little measuring cup that came with the cooker, but it's not a measuring-cup cup, it's much less) 1/4 cup carrots 1/4 cup celery 1/4 cup corn 1/4-1/2 cup leftover cooked chicken (optional) 2-4 packets…

It all comes down to perspective. I have gone through some really difficult things, some that anyone would agree is hard, and some that others would say i should just get over. But this is easier said then done in some situations, and I've learned that just because I find something difficult does not mean someone else…

Swimming (laps, and in-place, not racing) is my fav. way to workout, it's never triggered an attack and I can do it for hours if I want to without issue. Other workouts that don't increase breathing have also been fine, such as using resistance bands, light weight lifting (haven't tried heavy), and beginners yoga. I…
