  • I know this wasn't directed at me, but..... I'm thinking you're probably right. I'm going to remove my goal dates. As long as I keep working at it, I'll get there sooner or later.
  • I tend to agree with lynzyn: Once you're able to, go back to eating healthy foods to get your suggested number of calories. As long as you get back on the wagon, this should only be a blip in the road! *hugs*
  • 18.5 is the cut-off for a healthy BMI. I realize this is a somewhat arbitrary number, but please be careful all the same. I can't help you from personal experience, but you'll probably find the following thread helpful. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/113609-relatively-light-people-trying-to-get-leaner Best of luck!
  • If you're consistently losing one lb a week, that's great! That's a very healthy rate, and one that is much easier to maintain once you hit goal, than a super speedy loss. Like everyone before me has said, it's likely that you're replacing the fat with muscle, which again, will make the weight-loss easier to maintain in…
  • Before I read the article, I was going to disagree and say we need to cut the parents some slack. But after reading that the mom "didn't have time" to prepare healthy meals - I have to agree. At 17, Georgia should be capable of preparing her own meals, but at the same time, if your child is in such a fragile state - you…
  • That really does stink! Just know that whatever the case may be, it's better to deal with it head on. Take the same attitude you're using for your weight and fitness and use it for these new concerns. You'll get through this. I'll be thinking of you, and sending as much good karma your way as I can!
  • Scary true! Too funny!
  • You'll probably like "Radio Lab" also then. I recently listened to the "Words" show and the "Numbers" show (both radio lab episodes) and found them really interesting. "Wait. Wait. Don't tell me." is also an NPR program  The entire NPR podcast directory can be found here:…
  • Regarding cheat days... I imagine it depends how you think of them. Some people use them as a means to "confuse the body." If that's how you think of them then I'm not sure of their necessity in the obese person's journey. In my head, cheat days are used in an effort to prevent bigger, more frequent cheats... it's a way to…
  • Yay Miss Tom! So excited for you, and glad to see that all the hard work you're doing is paying off. We all knew it would eventually - but it's nice to see the evidence! hugs!:flowerforyou:
  • Do you have any before and after(during) pictures you can post in the success/motivation forum? You've lost 84 lbs!!!! That's a huge accomplishment! I hope you realize you're an inspiration to others :) By posting there, and sharing your current position - just like you did here, you're sure to get plenty of encouragement.…
  • Do you want music or talk... Can't help you with music, but for talk NPR.org has a bunch of great podcasts. A lot of them are free. My favorite, This American Life, keeps its podcasts free the week after broadcast, but charges $.99 after that. I'm not sure if you're American or not, but I would think the program would be…
  • It's not quite right on the page, but I was able to see your "after" by clicking on "view image info." LOL - one thing MFP teaches is a creative way to view pictures  You look beautiful! You've been able to keep the weight off for two years? That's what I find most impressive! Keep up the good work!
  • Since joining MFP, my mantra has become "I can do this!" So far, so good!
  • Just for today: I will work toward my goals.
  • You should check out CricketKate's "Just for today" thread. I bet you'd like it. :flowerforyou:
  • What a FUN way to celebrate your success! Congratulations! You look beautiful!!!
  • I agree. I see your ultimate goal weight is 83lbs. That would put you in the unhealthy range for your height (or mine and I'm two inches shorter than you. The healthy range is between 97.9 lbs and 132.2 lbs. Being healthy is the key to a long happy life, not being skinny - and definitely not being too skinny! You look…
  • Keep an eye on your fiber - make sure you're getting enough. Add it to the bottom of your food journal.
  • Keep your exercise separate from your daily calorie settings. Your daily goal is determined by how active you are in your normal life. i.e. someone with a desk job is sedentary while a construction worker is likely to be very active. Best of luck!
  • I love the picture of your dogs! They look so stoic and adorable all at the same time. Are they with you in Bahrain? How long have you lived over there?
  • I think the following link will give you the explanation you're looking for: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing?hl=700+calories+a+day
  • Had a physical today - saw the same number on the scale there as I do at home. At least I know my home scale is accurate.
  • @jilld76 The podcasts that Carli has made can be found at http://runningintoshape.com/5k-training-downloads/ There are also a few others I've come across. I'll try to post them later today.
  • You look fantastic! Have you gone out yet in that slinky shirt you showed off earlier in the thread?
  • Be careful of increasing the speed too much. I had gradually increased my speed throughout the 1st three weeks, but when it came time to run W4 - I hit a brick wall. So... I returned my speed to my W1 speed, and repeated W4. I plan on keeping it on the W1 speed throughout the rest of the program (I did W6D1 today)…
  • W6D1 complete! I was hesitant about running today because I woke up with some congestion in my chest, but at a friend's urging I decided to give it a go. It didn't go as smoothly as W5 - my asthma was acting up - but I was able to complete it. I almost extended the walk before the final 5min run, but then Carli (I'm using…
  • That's awesome! I'm glad to see your hard work is paying off!
  • That's a great idea! Insurance companies and businesses in general had down negative decisions assuming that the customer won't speak up / follow up on them. Most people don't! If you follow up and ask for a physical exam or just be a squeaky wheel in general, there's a chance that things could go in your favor. Besides...…
